And, as always, the questionnaire you are given the opportunity to fill out when you cancel your subscription will continue to carry more weight than two years of BMWing on the forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kind of like the "Suggestions" box that gets emptied into the trash at the end of every month?

Case in point: The devs admitted ED was the change they lost the most subs over.
I bet everyone who left over it let the devs know why in that questionnaire if the devs weren't smart enough to figure it out.

Didn't stop pretty much the same thing from happening again on a smaller scale with the i13 PvP changes, did it?

    Wrong. It was players who...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would that be the same players who flocked to the MA so they could abuse it and farm better?

Did you ever stop to think that increased aggro abilities may have caused some redundancy issues for the AT and that Tankers in general could be a case of overspecialization? Or than the game today is a different beast than then and perhaps Tankers as they are now don't fit as well into the current paradigm as they used to?

No you didn't. You're convinced Tankers are awesome, have no design flaws and couldn't stand to be tweaked the same way Domms just got tweaked. Hardly sounds like a non-biased viewpoint to me, but hey whatever.

    [ QUOTE ]
This forum played a big part in directing Tanker changes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, for good or ill it has in the past. And now it enforces a status quo and gangs up to attack and suppress people suggesting changes that don't agree with that status quo. And that includes not only me, but anyone who comes by and disagrees being an aggro monkey is all that and thinks that maybe Tankers could use improvements and adjustments.

But you're NOT the totality of Tankers, or players of this game for that matter, and it's been my observation there's more people playing this game who are open to Tanker offense tweaks than I've seen here who are utterly against them. So maybe some day the devs will see that too and act on it.

And I'll say it again: For two and a half years I've been standing up to you guys here with the odds not in my favour and taking whatever you throw at me. So who's the real Tanker?

    .
  3. [ QUOTE ]
You problem isn't with Tankers, but that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I told you what "my problem" is.

The issue is that the devs decided to represent the heavy hitting, tough heroes from comics as mediocre damage decoys and distractions.

And then even after they admitted it was a mistake and saying they were going to fix it, they didn't.

    Get it through your skull.

    .
  4. [ QUOTE ]

Not that I have seen. Both DCUO and CO look like they are all melee characters scrappers, with a tanker toggle.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't comment on what I haven't played, but if all their melee characters are "Scrappers", and that's the toughest "class," wouldn't that make them the toughest and most melee damaging?

"Champions Online is new so it will kill CoX"

I got tired of hearing it too. Most of this seems to come from people who left here bitter

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe you should wonder WHY they're leaving bitter.
    Maybe the devs should too.

Could it be that after years of asking for things they want, THESE devs still wont deliver on them but OTHER devs will?

Could be it that few or none of these things look like they will be in the overblown issue 16 they're calling an 'expansion'?

Or that the expansion means that a true sequel to CoH (which may have the things those people want) is not going to happen any time soon?

If our devs refuse to give these players what they want, and other devs will, why should the players be happy with our devs and why should they stick around? And leaving quietly doesn't deliver the message to these devs WHY people are leaving.

If the devs get the message they may smarten up.
Or they may opt not to fight for their business. Frankly, if they're not willing to fight for their customers, that says a lot about how they feel about their customers, and how their customers should feel about them and the game.

MMORPG /= comic book. When will you get this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Two other comic book MMOs look like they're going to be doing those heroes more justice than here. Super heroes aren't rodeo clowns. That's what they get it seems.

    [ QUOTE ]

Why would I want to invite a squishy Brute unless it's Granite? So I can see them faceplant constantly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why don't you go over to the brute forums and tell them how squishy and weak they are.

    [ QUOTE ]

    I would easily prefer...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really don't care what you prefer.

    [ QUOTE ]

    Funny thing is...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny thing is the people who made this game admitted Tankers as implimented were a mistake and it seems newer super hero MMOs have learned from that mistake and are trying not to repeat it. So you defending that mistake at this point and working against fixing it is the funny joke around here.

    J_B's biggest complaint is that

    [/ QUOTE ]

...the devs decided to represent the heavy hitting, tough heroes from comics as mediocre damage decoys and distractions.

My second complaint being they admitted four years it was a mistake that should be fixed and still won't do anything about it. In fact they have routinely done things to make it worse, like side switching.

The third complaint is now we're going to have Brutes running around blue side to make Tanker offense look even worse in comparison.
    Way to shaft Tankers, devs...again.

And lastly, Brutes are hardly a substiitude for thoese tough, heavy hitting heroes I refer to since those heroes are most often NOT ruled by berzerker fury and rampages. Brutes are not heroic, even if you mash them into blue side.

    *

Maybe in the expansion the devs can add some more temp powers and IO sets to give Brutes and Scrappers even more free increased damage mitigation without cutting into their offense. That'd be just awesome for Tankers.

Sky Skiffs and Chasers work with slightly different mechanics than a car would, I do believe. No wheels to turn, no set direction, etc.

Are they going to steal the parts from Sergeant Hatred to build them?

Poor non-instanced content hurts immersion (I just defeated that named mob and it's already back?)

    [/ QUOTE ]

And exiting a mission door from an office I just cleared of CoT, and then immediately getting another mission at that same door, but now it leads to a cave full of Devouring Earth, isn't immersion breaking?

I think that's a limitation of it being a game, period. Instanced or non instanced, something is going to snap you back that this is a virtual world, and not even a simulation.

The difference is, non-instanced can be more social in my opinion. I meet more people in Rikti Raids and zombie invasions that go on my friends list than from the people asking me randomly to farm at the MA. Feels more super hero-like too. Heroes randomly teaming up to fight a threat.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypbRz...B4&index=0

I wouldn't execute that as an instanced mission. That would be a GM encouter where Spidey calles his SG buddy and the they pick up a pubber who stumbles by.

    the players playing tankers

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not all of them. Or even most of them, I'd guess.

    .
  12. [ QUOTE ]
No I don't expect you to agree with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess I don't because four out of the five things you listed I either argued against or hate outright they ever happened.

    [ QUOTE ]

We got it CO is new and therefore will be better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, CO is new and will have new things I like about it and new things I don't. But at least some of the things I don't aren't things I'm sick of dealing with for three years and have no hope of ever being fixed. CO gives me a little hope for something better. The "Goin' Commando" expansion really doesn't.

    [ QUOTE ]

Your right. The Dev team instead of trying to play catch up to the new guy with CO are offering things that the whole player base has asked for

    [/ QUOTE ]

I argued long and hard against side switching.

    [ QUOTE ]

    revolutionary tools like MA

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's little more than radio/paper missions with user generated text. It's more limited than the already very limited mission tools and story telling techniques the dev generated game has. I would have rather the devs spent the development time and resources used on it to see improved AI and improved mission design by the people PAID to design missions.

Or better, spent the year and a half since they formed the new studio working on a CoH 2, which is something I could be hopeful for.

    [ QUOTE ]

I have and still do agree with you on some design issues but frankly acting rudely to Devs and calling them names is not the way to get your message heard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No offense, but you don't really know half of what's gone down. There are a handfull of people on these forums I may have been too harsh with at times, but the devs aren't one of them. Leave it at that.

    [ QUOTE ]

    Get over it already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No.
I've tried to present my case in a reasonable manner on many occasions and offer solutions to some of those design issues you said you agree with and it's thrown back in my face and derailed by one of the very people it was aimed at. And then it's joked about.

is anything else that I've said I'm looking forward to in CO something that's unreasonable to want? I don't think so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps not, but nearly all of it comes with unavoidable strings which you'll have to experience for yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Strings or not, at least the features I want look like they're being offered and the problem areas are being changed at the very least. That's more than I can say for CoX and the expansion. I'll take the bad with the good if I'm happy with the test drive, thank you.

    .
  14. [ QUOTE ]
You've been playing longer than me,

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Your reg date is older?

    .
  15. [ QUOTE ]

And the man who led this abuse, you want HIS new game???

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean the guy who said in serveral interviews between the time Positron took over and the time CO was announced that he regretted Tankers didn't turn out like their heavy hitting comic counterparts and always wanted to fix it, but never could find the time or solution?

I don't care about your boogyman. All I care about is someone is offering me a game with a more open power system where hopefully I can pick my role independant of my powersets and build characters closer to what I want. Not just super strong, tough heroes. Things like a gun wielding martial artist. Or a power armored psychic. Or whatever the hell not being as strongly bound to a class will let me. I'm excited to find out what the new system can and can't do. I already know what CoH can't, and I'm sick of it.

As opposed to these devs, who I think really don't give a damn about Tanker concept, have done more to damage it than better it, and have done very little to deliver the things I'm interested in a super hero MMO being.

Things like a more open character creation/ power system system.
Not to mention environmental interaction, power customization, a decreased focus on instanced missions, new travel powers, improved travel powers(sonic boom yay!) brand new graphics(with the exception of cel shading which I'll turn off), new enemies, new zones and a dozen other things that interest me that CoX doesn't have, won't have in the expansion, and likely will never have until they get off their butts and make a CoH 2.

And frankly, its something new. CoX is five years of fluff tacked on a rotting, slanting foundation. If you'll excuse my zealousness for Tankers, is anything else that I've said I'm looking forward to in CO something that's unreasonable to want? I don't think so. And if Positron isn't offering those things, I'm going to at least entertain someone who will.

Six months from now I'm going to be playing a super hero MMO that lets me pick up and throw a friggin' car. I don't care who's game that is, but from the looks of things, it wont be CoX.

And whatever Emmert did, or what you THINK he did, he's the only dev here who ever respected me enough to engage me in a conversation, didn't dismiss my criticism of the game and copped to the situation with Tankers.

Also he NEVER posted OT comments to one of my threads, derailed it, got it nuked by a Mod and then laughed about it later, unlike some devs here.

    .
  16. [ QUOTE ]
So, what are the chances of you staying sub'd here once CO comes out? If so, do you plan on posting on both forums? Cause that would just be super.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said bucky, I've got two months until CO launches, and likely more than a couple after than until the expansion comes out.

I can easily pay subs for two games. The question is, do I move my other accounts from CoX to CO at that time and keep this one around just for giggles or just have the one here and one there.

you guys are all missing the obvious bonus if JB's idiotic predictions come true.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The real bonus is he will roll a hero brute.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The real bonus is he will be gone. But frankly, I'm not betting on it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's a 180.

It was only a couple months ago you said I'd tire of my pursuit like "others of my ilk" and split.

    .
  18. [ QUOTE ]
If I had to guess, I would guess (a), new archetypes that are more "neutral" than the traditional ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If by that you mean "bridge" archetypes that are roughly the middle between existing ATs on opposing sides, then that may be the only thing in this explansion that keeps me around.

But as you say, the's pure speculation, and the devs have a whole two months to further disappoint me with the expansion before there's an alternative, and likely several more months after that before the expansion hits.

    .
  19. [ QUOTE ]

The current Pretora story arc is extremely loose (like most content from those days.) We visit certain zones, cities and the such, but we never really see anything outside of isolated outdoors. I never seen an arc that mentions what I said, I was guessing that based on the trailer where Tyrant's empire seems like a paradise. Being who he is, I would not be shocked of him going through any means necessary to achieve that perfection.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing in the past content presents Praetorian Earth as being, or seeming, a utopia.

In fact the CoH comics presented it as being a burnt out world, dark, war torn and dilapidated.
    http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5.../praetoria.jpg

I consider the utopian angle very much a retcon, going against what we've seen before.

Now, here's where it gets interesting.

When they first showed the utpoian Praetoria in the trailer, I thought it looked a lot like Millenium City from the Champions Online concept artwork and videos.

Now, given that Tyrant "made" Praetoria, and Tyrant is the evil alternate version of Statesman, and Statesman is the alter ego of Jack Emmert, I think the devs maybe attemping a very meta kind of bash against Jack and CO.
    YMMV

I'm betting we'll see a damage reduction and the implemention of an inherent power where Inf, salvage drops and recipes are automitically removed from the Tanker's inventory at regular intervals and evenly distributed among his teammates...

    [/ QUOTE ]

The sad thing is, I can't tell if you're joking with this. Seriously.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm dead serious. That fits 100% with the apparent vision the devs have for Tankers and their role/concept.

    .
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I don't think tankers were singled out, they're just collateral damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Neglect can be a form of abuse. In this case, neglecting the impact side switching will have on Tankers, dismissing it and then steaming ahead anyways.

    [ QUOTE ]

But Johnny, if tankers get rare, really rare, because of brute-tanking hero-side, then tankers will get something good to revive 'em.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not gonna happen. Defenders have been the least popular blue side AT for how long and they haven't done anything for them yet. If anything, I say Tankers get pushed further into their niche by the devs over this.

I'm betting we'll see a damage reduction and the implemention of an inherent power where Inf, salvage drops and recipes are automitically removed from the Tanker's inventory at regular intervals and evenly distributed among his teammates.
