Quote:Like I said, loosen up.it is good to know that you find discriminatory statements the height of humor and sterotypes a joke to be laughed about .
But look, seriously kid. If you're looking to argue back and fourth with me all night on a forums, you're barking up the wrong tree. You obviously don't like me and frankly, I ain't too fond of you. Leave it at that and walk away, cause I ain't gonna bicker and all with you. -
Quote:And that's your opinion. You're welcome to it.your posts sure make it sound like thats your world view , I guess its easy to say things like that and claim its a joke out of one side of your mouth and then complain folks are against you for upsetting the conservative status quo out of the other side of your mouth .
Honestly, you're wrong. But whatever. I can't please everyone all the time and to be quite honest, I don't try cause I don't care to. I know I'm not a 'cool kid' and I'm not 'popular' because of my opinions being contrary to those others express but honestly, I'd rather be true to myself than I would be true to you to make you happy. Because what would I be then? A sell out and a lie. -
Quote:I'm not either of those things.are you sure its not because you come off as Discriminatory and just a tad racist ?
I think people need to learn to loosen up and take a joke. Not everything carries some horrible sinister motive. If I offended someone I would apologize but honestly I don't see anything to apologize for. Anything that anyone could be offended by is simply because they're too sensitive and are getting offended by something I'm not even serious about.
By the way everyone is discriminatory on these forums. They've got prejudice and bias against or pertaining to something, usually their personal opinions. You do too. -
Quote:People just don't complain and voice their opinions here because of the above examples. You post an opinion or complain about something contrary to the status quo conservative view that seems to be so popular with the 'cool kids' then you get flamed to crap and back and insulted.Come on, you read the boards just like I do, and we are both in some of the threads where people who have supported this game for years w/o complaints are at the "Taking a break" point. Many of them say it is because marketing is giving us nothing, and it is becoming frustrating.
This isn't on the Devs, or the Mods, it is on marketing for this game. The event is awesome (as I have said once today) because at least the mods are trying to do SOMETHING to keep things fresh. It may not be what we want, but they are trying.
This morning I thought I may be throwing too much at the marketing guys, then I listened to the Hero Con pod cast again, and decided my ire was well placed.
Today on VU this was discussed again, and even those who loved the event thought the lack of info was a bit frustrating.
We who read and post on these boards may just be the minority of this game's players, but we are the vocal minority. Which means we are willing to go to other boards and complain about what happens here.
So all in all, I am happy with the Devs, I am happy with the mods, but I have a strong strong dislike of the marketing dept. I would not buy them a beer. -

Quote:Your opinion is your opinion. Don't tote it as fact.Hey, if the joke was funny, it'd be funny. Wouldn't matter how explicit or offensive it is. The problem is what you were thinking of saying just isn't funny, so in lieu of actual humor, all that's left is tastelessness. This is my opinion. I can't speak for everyone else and I'm sure a few others here might find it funny along with you, but.. I kinda doubt it.
I feel like you overreacted. Once you realized you were playing a losing game, you should've just stopped. You shouldn't have even gotten to the point where you typed everything up three times and eventually ignored him until he went away. If I had the misfortune of meeting that GM, as soon as it became apparent we couldn't communicate, I'd have politely said his help wasn't needed anymore, and then maybe if it was a big deal I'd have petitioned it again in the hopes I'd get someone different.
It's your own fault you got upset the way you did, I'm sure we can at least agree on that.
My boyfriend found the joke perfectly humorous. Loosen up, homes.
Also I did what I did because I didn't want to be rude to the guy and wanted to give him a chance. However he proved to be completely incompetent which annoyed me because frankly I question why they would put someone so utterly unqualified for the job in such a position.
My own fault I got upset? Because of course I chose the irritating GM as my helper of choice and had to try to be nice about it and give him a chance. Right. -

Don't need to defend myself. -
Quote:Nope.. The guys name came up with a GM and all and he only contacted me after thirty minutes of having my ticket up....Are you sure you didn't contact one of those chinese gold farmers on accident?
Anyway, my (few) experiences with GMs have always been positive. I suggest you take the time to fill out the survey form (truthfully and without malice) so that it affects the performance review of whoever you'd gotten stuck with.
As for filling out the form? No thanks.. I already had a headache and was pretty frustrated, frankly anything I entered into that form would have been construed as malice even if it wasn't.
I fill them out when people do a good job so I figure when they find that I haven't done a form for someone it means they did a bad job. -
You don't agree with how I handled it? Now you must be kidding me.
What don't you agree with? How I kept calm through the entire experience? How I explained to him in great detail three times my problem and ended up doing most of the work by trying to explain to him that I could not take the quest that he insisted I take again over and over? That I simply ignored him finally after trying for so long and explaining three times, by the way did I mention THREE TIMES my problem and still received the same response?
I'd say I was far too giving. I shouldn't have to explain anything three times to anyone, especially not a GM. Especially not in the great and painstaking detail I explained it to him and all the text I ended up entering that night to him in an attempt to get him to understand.
What would it have accomplished?
Not much.
But it would have made me grin which would have been something for the headache I ended up getting from this GM. The point is I didn't do it.
I find it interesting how so many people seem so offended by this little joke when I've seen much more offensive and explicit jokes made regularly on Virtue by all sorts of folk. Are only the hyper conservative flamer crowd on the forums?
...Wait.. Stupid question.. -
My stance isn't that they're not doing anything, I specifically do not believe that it takes the entire dev team to work on an expansion that is probably mostly done ( I mean what we saw at Hero Con was pretty far along ) my stance is more that they're not doing enough.
I believe that we should see at least another Issue release before the release of Going Rogue or as an alternative some worth while content updates. I get the feeling a large half of the dev team is just floating around and not doing anything.. You'll also notice a lot of people and a lot of the community actually agrees with me on this.. So, you know.. Yeah..
Frankly I just expect more. City of Heroes has never been that impressive compared to any other game ( World of Warcraft, EverQuest or what have you ) where they're pumping out expansions left and right and it's actual huge updates to their content adding new things and all I just don't see that on City of.. Rather, I see it done on an entirely unimpressive and pitiful scale that could most certainly be done better.
I'm a little peeved too that I ended up spending $60 on City of Villains ( back when I bought it if you wanted to play a Villain having the disc was mandatory ) and then turned around and said "Well actually we've randomly decided that you can play villains without the disc! So those of you that bought it basically gave us $60 for virtually nothing at all! Isn't that great?" yeah, not so much..
City of seems like it could do a lot of things better and it just feels to me like the team doesn't apply themselves adequately. Like they're doing it less than even halfway and thinking everyone's going to be content with that forever. They're not.. They aren't.. Trust me, it's not just me that feels this way. -
Okay, opinions on whether the Devs are doing their jobs or not aside. A previous post I made in another thread made me think, wonder and then decide to bring this up with the whole of the Virtue forum community..
Last year I was playing on Redside with my other ( boyfriend ) and we were doing the little quest-line leading up to Ghost Widow. As we took on a follow up quest after finishing another we noticed the little nav point ( that shows you where your quest is ) was pointing to one area and surprisingly it wasn't the quest ( the nav point was stuck ) so we kinda just went "whatever" and finished the quest ( via the whole "drop the quest to finish" thing ) so we got the next follow up quest and surprise surprise, it was doing the same thing.
So irritated, I looked at him and said "You want to contact a GM?" and he goes "Yeah.." so I sent in a ticket..
About half an hour later we finally get a response, we'd decided after the first ten minutes to just move on so we left the building the nav point was stuck on and began to randomly search around the city ( going from door to door to try to find where our quest was ) and surprisingly we finally found it.. So we did our quest and then received a response from a GM a full thirty minutes after..
The GM asked me what the problem was and I told him, you know.. We got a quest and the nav point was stuck so we had no clue where to go and surprise surprise surprise surprise (?) the quest AFTER the two we had just completed had the very same problem. So I told him this in great detail explaining how we had specifically completed two quests prior and that we were currently searching for the location of our third because the nav point wasn't working properly ( note that from the get go it was difficult to understand him, he clearly didn't understand or know how to speak English very well ), he asked us what the first quest that started this line was and I told him.. Then he says "retake it" and I'm like "Uh.. We can't, dude. We completed it." to which he responds "you have to retake it to me help you" ( I kid you not he typed like this ) so we went to the quest-giver thinking maybe he'd enabled it to be taken again and tried to take it.. Surprise, we couldn't.. So I explained to him again that we had already taken the quest and completed it and therefore couldn't retake it.. To which.. Surprise.. He said... "you have to take it again for to help you", at this point I'm rubbing my temples going "Okay, let me try this again." so once more I explain to him in great and painful detail the problems we're having and the fact that we have completed two quests in the line already and to this he responses YET AGAIN with "retake it" to which I just randomly exploded and went "AUUGH @#$! IT! asdfgas" and stopped responding ( I didn't actually send the whole @#$! IT ) and after a while the GM stopped sending me messages.
I walked away convinced this was my WORST experience with a GM to date. I was wrong, of course.. I've had worse since then but I won't go into detail about them..
Anyway.. After this they sent me to my email one of those "tell us how good we did" surveys and of course I didn't fill it out but due to the massive headache this guy gave me in trying to understand him I was tempted to fill it out entirely with just "YOU WAN FWIED WICE!?"
My question is this.. With the outsourcing of GM's ( which seems like a horrible idea because I mean, y'know. They're only working on U.S servers so why would they need something as silly as a knowledge of the English language? ) have you had problems like this? Understanding or dealing with GM's? -
I tend to agree. The Rikti were new what? 2007? Guys, it's 2010. It's been a little more than three years since the Rikti were new. In the grand scheme of things ( MMO time ) it's high time for an update and something new.
I realize we're waiting for Going Rogue but what I also realize is we've received no new information on it since Hero Con and no release date.
Going Rogue coming out ( "Soon" TM ) doesn't excuse the devs from doing their jobs and frankly even while it's in the pre-release phases I think we should see something new. I however have the sneaking suspicion that Going Rogue is going to be used as an excuse to avoid doing any actual work or adding anything new until Going Rogue..
...Whenever it comes out ( "SOON"! TM ) -

Quote:I did it on Virtue. You, Jade, are BAD. Bad, I tell you!
But that's a pretty darn funny idea ...
JUST cause there are so many complainers on this server I went to the Pocket D and posted in open chat a BDSMish post in local and quickly logged off after ( incapacitated by the giggles )
Coincidentally I did this as a dare and also won a little over $40 USD because the person who dared me was fervently convinced that I was too sheepish and easily embarrassed to do it.
May have killed my reputation among that crowd but it was still pretty funny ( though I wish now I had stayed around to see the reactions ) -
With my last post being my last post I'm going to call this one the true last post.. Wait, what?
Anyway, after I post this I'm falling out of the conversation. Frankly I can't motivate myself to actually care or argue with people about this subject. Everyone has their own opinion and frankly more often than not people voice their opinions on the internet as absolute fact, frankly I just can't be bothered with that sort of crap.
Oh sure, I'll be flamed pulling out like this 'Oh she didn't have a tough enough skin', 'this proves we're right' blah blah blah ego stroke low self esteem +2 level up but to be honest I'd rather be flamed and pull out with some dignity than to sit here and argue for days on end about something that doesn't matter.
You know the end result of this entire thread? It will accomplish nothing, people will sit here, argue and flame each other for a while looking like total tards in the process ( Yes, even I look like a total tard for allowing myself to be drawn into this drama ) and eventually the thread will die away to make way for a new one. No ones opinions will be changed, nothing will be different and people will go on doing, thinking and saying what they want. As a general rule from now on I think I'm going to just avoid having my say all together as it's more a headache than it's worth arguing with people who are clearly just so much more superior and god-like than myself and who are so unimaginably enlightened I could never hope to even comprehend their intellects.
Enjoy your net fights, kids. Remember. It's serious business. -
You want to argue that? Show me ANYWHERE where ANYONE can prove a person is an adult on the internet.
Age verification through credit cards? ID? Birth Certificate? Social Security? All can be faked or can be gotten to use to be faked. By your logic any eroticism on the internet as a generalized whole must therefore be illegal by the argument that you can't prove viewers and participants are of legal age.
Please.
Get a more serious argument if you wish to down this. With people in the game who have ERP and all stated clearly in their profiles and the fact that the City of Heroes team seems okay with this as long as it's kept private I really don't think it's of that great a concern to them or they'd have said/done something about it.
Most people on the game ERP or not are probably of age and if they're not, it's fairly obvious ( as a general rule, check their typing proficiency. Do they misspell words often? Do they use punctuation? If so, it's probably not someone of age. ) and you may call this argument flimsy but it's just as flimsy as yours and I seriously doubt they could actually prosecute you in court or would even bother.
You're mad at ERPers because they're selfish? Then what are you? By your post you've rather clearly indicated you're only angry because it might ( not even a realistic chance, however ) inconvenience you. So you're guilty of being self centered as well.
Derp derp. Pot calling the kettle black. -
Quote:Preeetty much which is why I removed my last entry. I don't need to defend myself.. And I wasn't really targeting anyone to be honest.. Just those that are guilty-minded.
If I may add something. I don't think Jade was targeting people who dislike Pocket D. She was more targeting people who grief Pocket D and fuel the stigma around it. At least that's what I got from their post.
Definitely wasn't generalizing, I never said 'everyone who disagrees with the Pocket D and my frame of mind is...' or anything like that so y'know. Whatever. -
Watch out for overbearing, self righteous and judgmental behaviour as well.
-
Go to Triumph and post several ERP posts in local around people. Do it.
You know it's a good idea. -
My take on this is pretty simple
- Some people are just immature and never got past the giggling at things pertaining to sex phase ( I.E. early teens )
- Some people are just too narrow minded to consider that even if someone does ERP perhaps they're not the basement dwelling mouth breathing loser they seem to so strongly wish they were
- Some people seem fixated on the whole 'no girls on the internet thing' so much so I question whether the males that say this perhaps aren't gay and hoping for an all male utopia ( IT'S RAININ MEN! )
- People from a certain chan. Nuff said.
- Some are simply talking out their ****. Looking for drama, thriving off drama and arguing/starting trouble just to argue/start trouble because they can't feel self important without it
- The above + Low self esteem = Half the retards who get into arguments on the internet
-
Played it, beat it with Siren and was extremely unimpressed.
For all the hype the games received it fell short on expectations that had been created through all the "zomg this game is so good" and "Must play of 2009!" reviews
Story? Paper thin. Sucked..
World? Felt like Fallout 3. Boring
Combat? Seen it before. RPG elements have been in shooters before Borderlands. Why everyone acts like Borderlands is innovative for something that's been done before, I'll never understand
Weapons? Meh. Bland and rather done.. If you've had one fire gun, you've had them all. Also the alien tech was few and far between and even when you got it the tech just felt underpowered and bland as well
End boss? TOTAL disappointment. Where's my reward at the end of the game? No reward = Major disappointment
I was unimpressed at the start of the game and then content at the middle and considering it 'okay' and then I reached the end at which point I wanted to chuck my controller at the screen and scream at it for getting my hopes up. -
Quote:Already seen/dealt with it and done things to mock the mockers. Might get banned for one of the outrageously stupid things I did, but it was worth the laugh and probably the resulting chaos it caused ( though I don't know what it caused because I admittedly bailed right after doing it )Well hello there.
