  1. You are a huge dork. And a smart one at that. Excellent idea, SF.

I can't thank all of you enough for all the hard work you've put into researching these numbers. This thread is getting getting noticed in places like the City Game Tracker website, and I have to say that it must be because of the thorough and exacting work you have all put into it.

    *sniff sniff*
    it makes an OP pround
    *wipes away tear*
  2. [ QUOTE ]
As a scrapper ^^ I'll officially say right here that I love a smart stormy. I just wish I could find more stormies in general >< I dunno; is it my bad luck or are non-Emp defenders a seriously dying breed? <x.x>

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about on Guardian, but on Pinnacle, emps seem to be the dying breed--at least for the mid levels of the game (once you get out of the hollows).

    [ QUOTE ]
now i got nothin against storm powers, but i cannot say how many times ive seen a tank or scrapp to get the stormie to either stop usin certain powers, or just to get of the team. I mean storm and scrapp/tanks dont mix well. I like bein with stormies with my blasters and def's, but when im my scrapps or tanks, i write "do not invite if u got a storm on team" cause i cant stand hurricane, tornado, and gale. And lightnin storm ruins my herdin badly. I prefer good ole kinetics to be with or an empathy. But i cant stand stormies with my melee'ers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand the general hate of hurricane, gale and tornado. If you're trying to smash some mob's face in, you don't want that face yanked out from under your fist (or blade or claws, etc). The kb powers in the storm set can definitely be misused. But when used right, they can be a great help to the melee crowd. If I can blow and pin an entire group in a corner with gale and hurricane and then slow their recharge with snow storm and send them flying onto their @$$es with freezing rain, then I just made every melee AT's job a lot easier.

Granted not every map lends itself to the kb powers, and it takes a good storm to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.
  3. I updated to try to fill in some of the gaps with speculations.

  4. Thanks, Dirtball and Stirge for your contributions. Once I get a break at work I'll try to make a few more speculations now that you guys have filled in a lot of the gaps.

    [ QUOTE ]
Okay, I have a theory about these now. I think they're invisible badges that you earn for completing Ganymede's and Scratch's second missions. Once you have them both, you get Beautiful/Handsome. Purely conjecture on my part, but considering their placement in the list, and the fact that Beautiful/Handsome is the only badge that's ever required you to do someone else's mission, it makes sense that they would use these invisible badges to track that.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Interesting theory about the "." badges, Stirge. What you propose makes a lot of sense. I have done one of the missions for Handsome/Beautiful. When I get home, I'll check to see if I have one of the "." badges, then run the other mish and see if I get the other one.
  5. Started a thread for CoV badges here
  6. There is a great guide for Heroes that Saga_ started called How to set a badge title. Since COV came out, I haven't seen one for Villains, so I decided to start the ball rolling with the few badges I have been able to confirm and/or speculate about.

    How it works:

/Settitle is a slash command that can be used via the chatbox or through a bind or macro to set your badge title. It takes one argument (the number for the badge), and you can only set badge titles for badges you have earned -- any badges you have earned, including Gladiator badges, which can not be set through the Badge menu user interface. If you use /settitle for a number that matches a badge you don't have, it will clear your badge title.

For example, you have already earned the "Plague Carrier" badge you can set it by selecting it from the badge menu (obviously), or you can enter this in your chatbox:

    [ QUOTE ]
    /Settitle 9

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or if you wanted a macro that set your badge to "Plague Carrier", you could use this one which would put a gray macro button labeled "PC" in the next available slot in your power tray that sets your badge when you click it:

    [ QUOTE ]
    /Macro PC "settitle 9"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or you could bind it to the "P" key with this:

    [ QUOTE ]
    /bind p settitle 9

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would you want to use this instead of just selecting the badge from the user interface?

Well, as mentioned above, you can set gladiator badges this way. Also, it's great for that little extra bit of RP, so that you can finish off your costume detail with a matching badge.

For example, Dr. Zhivago, my main villain (Necro/Dark) was a surgeon in the soviet army (he dabbled in mysticism in order to be able to extend his own life, and consequently he discovered the secret to binding the dead to his will.) He has 3 costumes so far: a dark gray suit, his soviet dress uniform, and his lab coat. Costume 2 is a perfect match for the "Comrade" badge, and costume 3 works great with the "Doc" badge. When he is in his first costume, the (not-so-)good doctor proudly wears the badge of "Villain".

I had already bound my costume changes to ctrl plus F1, F2 and F3, so it was a simple matter (once I figured out the /settitle codes) to also bind the badge change to the costume change. Like so:

    [ QUOTE ]

Costume slot 1 with Villain badge.

    [ QUOTE ]
    /bind ctrl+f1 "cc 0$$settitle 59"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Costume slot 2 with Comrade badge.

    [ QUOTE ]
    /bind ctrl+f2 "cc 1$$settitle 276"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Costume slot 3 with Doc badge.

    [ QUOTE ]
    /bind ctrl+f3 "cc 2$$settitle 206"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

    So now the list.

There are many gaps and many unconfirmed spots in the list, and the list stops short. Since I don't know how many settitle codes there are, I just stopped the list at the last one I had confirmed. Some of it was intuitive, like if Fixer is 259 and Doc is 260, then Mad Scientist must be 261. I referred to Vidiot Maps to help fill in some of the gaps, but not everything correlated exactly, so instead of leading everyone down the wrong path, I was hoping others would be willing to contribute their confirmations to the list.

I got all of the confirmed numbers by just trying each number after "/settitle " in my chat box, so if folks are willing to try it out themselves and add to this post, I think we can fill in the gaps.

If you're replying with an update, please quote the list below with whatever corrections you're making. I'm using "(?)" after the badge name to indicate the one's I'm speculating about. If you confirm the /settitle code for any of those badges, please remove the "(?)" from that badge name in the list when you re-post.

  7. Finally a Necro/Dark guide! Thanks for putting this together, DrkAv. Not bad.

I've heard a lot of praise for Tar Patch and Darkest Night. I'm starting to wish I'd gotten them instead of Dark Blast and Gloom--especially since, as you point out, the Grave Knight uses the blasts himself.

I personally don't feel the need for hasten or stamina with my MM build. I'm never out of end except after a round of summoning/upgrading, and popping a few blues takes care of that. I think the 12-13% change they made to end usage (not to mention ED making the slotting of End Red ehns more common) is going to really drop the "99% of toons take stamina" tendency. Plus, my blasts just don't drain my end much.

I also don't feel the need for hasten when the only recharges I'm ever waiting for are my summons (with a single DO rech red on my Enchant, it comes up fast enough to get through the upgrading cycle for me.)

I find it interesting that you didn't mention flight at all when talking about travel powers. I chose flight because:
    A) The streets and buildings in the Rogue Isles are crazy. My wife got Super Leap, and she's always getting hung up on the lips of buildings--where as it was her favorite travel power in COH, she's constantly cursing it now. I wouldn't want Super Speed either with out any straigh line streets. Just my pref.
    B) The LAG! TP is my favorite travel power in COH. When it's working fine w/o any lag, it's hands down the fastest. Even with a the bad lag I would tend to get at the Talos tram, hover made up for the issues. On some of my COH toons, I do a TP/Flight double travel power combo. TP and hover work great together getting across zones. And flight is great for speeding around within a mish. By bumping up my turn speed, I've even gotten good at flying through caves. But I can barely sprint through parts of COV most of the time, so I wanted something that would take me places in a straight line w/o needing much user input. I fly straight up, point myself to a spot right above the arrow, fly straight there, and then fly straight down. My trajectory looks like a squarish U.

I'll probably take the TP pool later for recall friend and TP foe. I hear the portals in Oranbega can be a b17ch to get your henchies through w/o recall friend. And I used to like TP foe on my scrappers for pulling. Even when it aggros the whole group, it usually gets me one minion that I can take down faster so as to mitigate the overall damage to me and my team more quickly.

My other pool powers will definitely include Leadership and ... not sure if I'll take a 4th. I was thinking about Concealment in order to be able to grant invis to my boys. I had read about Ninja MMs using grant invis to good effect for stalker-like alpha strikes with their henches. But I find that I can pretty much accomplish the same with Shadow Fall--especially if I can come up behind the mob.

I just hit 17 last night, and I can't wait to get to 18 for my ghost and 3rd zombie.

PS: the black text color was almost impossible to read against the maroon COV forum background. It was a little bit easier if I switched over to read it under the COH forum here. But on both, I had to select all (ctrl+A) in order to read the black text. Maybe my monitor is just darker than most.
