You know, that would have been a better name for our sg
Stupid max 15 char i5 restriction.
-
For no particular reason, our i5 alts sg "Mental Misfits" has been newly renamed to "Supa Dupa Crew." I guess people weren't mental enough...we're hopin with this slick new label we'll finally be able to take over the world.

New Super Group for i5: Mental Misfits
Leaders: the i5 Alts of VoodooCompany, BoneBaby, Me and a guy that goes by the name "Z."
What gets you in: If you created a new alt around the time i5 came out, been around the block before, don't have an sg, and like to run missions, look us up.
What kicks you out: Being a selfish, arrogant, piggish, wacko nut-job. Basically if you are here to enjoy the game, don't worry about it. If you are a dumb jerk...fahgeddabodit.
What not to expect from us: A website, sg 1337ism, PLing...basically anything that takes time and too much work for our lazy selves to find worth doing.
So, why do we exist: A lot of online friends of ours have recently created new alts, and I'm sure a lot of you that haven't met us yet who are reading this have to. Most of our lowbies don't have an sg yet and like to run missions. We're hoping this sg makes it easier for those who join to find other experienced players of similar level to team up with and enjoy the game. -

...please do not flood the GMs with /petitions trying to get the badges. They can NOT award them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you give technical details behind why a GM cannot award a player a badge on /petition?
I understand why datamining to verify that a player has earned a badge would be a challenge, as has been mentioned, but this in no way explains why a GM can't simply reward the badge on petition.
You see, you guys are the ones who dropped the ball on this one. You did. Not the players. There are players in your game that are entitled to receive an item that, due to a problem with your game design, were mistakenly left out of the receipt of such a reward.
You have created a player feedback system for this very purpose.... /petition. This system allows players to notify GMs that something has gone awry, and, if it is relatively simple to do, the GMs correct the issue.
By rewarding a badge to anyone that /petitons with the claim to have been left out of the badge obviously opens up the possibility that certain petitioners will be falsely rewarded. However, to this I say, so what? It's just a badge. It is nothing more than a sign of accomplishment.
In fairness, it is better to give players that have earned the badge the opportunity to receive it with the possibility of minor player abuse than for those unfortunate players to be abused by the game and to be stuck with it.
Of course the best solution, if it were practical, would be to have every player have badges if and only if they've earned them. But, as you state, since this cannot occur, it's better to err on the side of allowing players the rewards they are entitled to. -
I like the idea behind defiance, and I appreciate the name change from desperation. It's not too heroic to always be "desperate" when you are close to death.
After working with this on test, I find certain aspects of the current implementation to be distracting: I don't want to start focussing on how I can exploit my life meter to gain more damage. I don't want to study a 3rd status bar to gauge how much damage I can start inflicting. Also, in comics, its hard to imagine a blaster-type consciously allowing himself to get beat up in order to increase his damage.
Consequently here are two suggestions I think would improve defiance:
1.) Make defiance kick in starting at 99% instead of 40%. I.E. every time a blaster gets hit he gets more "defiant." Of course at 99%, the effect would be negligible compared to 1%, with some form of increasing gradation in between. This would push defiance into the background. Its always available, even if hardly noticeable at first. No need to attempt to go from 41% health to 40% health or other such silliness for it to kick in. It's always available to you in some form when you are hurting.
2.) Completely remove the defiance slider. If you implement my suggestion for #1, the slider becomes redundant. If defiance is always directly proportional to one's health, blasters can gauge their defiance from the health bar alone. Again, this makes defiance still effective, yet less distracting and clunky.
Hope this helps. Thanks for creating these types of threads. Its great to know that the devs are reading our feedback. -
Grats to Matches for getting his thread stickied!

Empath! She's a grav/empath
Saga has saved Hot Joe from his customary 5 dirt snacks a mission just about every time I team with her... And yep definitely belongs in the cool players list
