I just used the self destruct power.
It failed to actually kill me and bring up the "go to hospital or base" prompt, but it did make my body vanish. I still had hp, and it was regenerating but I could not move, or use wakies, or do any actions whatsoever.
Anyone else have this problem?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. There are a few bugs with this power that are being worked on. Castle and Back Alley Brawler have both commented on them, and Lighthouse has a sticky post in the Tech Issues forum. Check the Dev & Community Digests for their posts. -

10 second count-down, and you die every time you use it...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, gameplay advantage. If you play a tank, it's trivially easy to go into a large group, pop a red or two and maybe a yellow, and dole out a sweet purchased Nova to your enemies, probably defeating most of them, and making it really easy for the rest of the team to mop up. Pop a wakie, or even better, have someone with Resuscitate or Resurrect on hand, and you're good to go.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except you have no body to rez, you can't use a wakie (at present, you can, but you remain without a body and unable to interact with anything). Your only choice is "go to hospital"
[/ QUOTE ]
The ability to self-rez or use wakies is definitely intended and works most of the time. There are some cases where you're left without a body (including one which Castle says they're trying to fix here), but for the most part self-rezzing works just fine. Rise of the Phoenix, in particular, looks really awesome after a Self Destruct. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oddly enough, both times I've used the Self Destruction, I've gotten debt to go along with it. I must be doing it wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a bug. If your character has any kind of debt reduction/protection power running (including the RWZ debt reduction) you'll get debt when you use Self Destruction. You shouldn't be getting debt in other situations, though. -

I tried out the A.C.C.A.H.U.D option and it does not seem to hold the colors from the tailor screen to normal play in combat. I chose a blue outer edge with yellowish inner.
Outside the tailor screen, it is just bluish all around. How can I take a screenshot of the tailor screen?
[/ QUOTE ]
Check your SG mode costume color settings. SG mode seems to affect the colors of the aura like it does any other costume piece; it's been discussed in this thread and others already. -

It's just like the wedding pack fiasco.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fiasco? I don't think you know what that word means.
If you don't wanna buy the extra stuff, then don't; it's no big deal. But sales of the wedding pack led to the introduction of VEATs at least an issue earlier than they were originally planned. People who want to shell out the extra cash for this stuff will, and the extra revenue generated from it will benefit even those who don't pay more than their monthly fee. There's no "fiasco" here. -
[ QUOTE ]
The Cyborg pack description says it has a "Self-Destruct Temporary Power". What does Temporary mean here? Does it go away after you use it once? Does it only last 30 days?
[/ QUOTE ]
The description is wrong. It's an inherent power, not a temporary one. It lasts forever. -
[ QUOTE ]
If I missed something I apologize in advance, but why don't we get pics of everything included? The artwork is nice, but I don't wanna feel like I got tricked. I think it's pretty reasonable to wanna see what your buying BEFORE you buy it.
So....pics?
[/ QUOTE ]
There are supposed to be pictures on the Cyborg Pack page, but the links aren't working right now for some reason. However, there have been pictures of everything up since yesterday here on the forums. If you missed those, you may have been living under a rock the last 24 hours... -
[ QUOTE ]
So, Maybe I am thick headed and don't understand, but....here's my question. On 5 different servers I have 22 characters, if I purchase the Booster Cyborg pack, I can apply the costume pieces and powers too any of my toons on any server, multiple toons with Cyborg costume and powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. -

That's some beautiful, beautiful content pack...
...that once again I can't buy through normal means, (Or proxy-tampering means, for that matter.) simply because I'm in Brazil.
It has become increasingly clear to me, despite subscribing to this game without interruption and going out of my way to buy all the extras, (Even when I was forced to jump through hoops to acquire them.) that my money is unfortunately, not as good as North American or European money in NC's eyes, even after almost two years of patronage without a hitch.
I hadn't been playing the game lately, but refused to let my subscription go, out of gratitude for all the good times CoH/CoV had offered me. In fact, I was eager to purchase the Cyborg Pack, just in case I decided to hop back in.
So on that note, my subscription is canceled. I'll take my money elsewhere, and will avoid any current or future projects taken under the wings of NC or their Brazilian retailer Level Up! Games. Unless of course, their stance towards South American customers changes.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you are angry because you don't have a credit card and can't buy the pack from a regular store? Guess what, it's not available in a regular store for anyone, it's a digital product.
[/ QUOTE ]
They're angry because it's not possible for them to buy it because of the way they have to purchase things from NCSoft. They can't purchase it directly from NCSoft's store like you or I can; since they're in Brazil they have to go through a third-party company (Level Up Games, which I've heard can really cause headaches for players). Apparently, these add-on packs just aren't available from Level Up Games, which is something NCSoft and Level Up Games should really work on.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can make a master account from anywhere, you can make a purchase (as far as I can tell) from anywhere, so why the use of a third party?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's just the way it is for players in Brazil. I don't know the whys of it, but it's been discussed on the boards before. They can't purchase directly from NCSoft's store like most of the rest of us can.
EDIT: Lighthouse addressed this issue here earlier today. If it's not the exact same situation discussed above, it's a similar one. -

It seems more like tossing a bone out to those who felt slighted because they couldn't have the 30-day pack unless they bought a time-card they couldn't use.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone can use the $20 game/jetpack card to pay their monthly fee and get the jetpack every month. (Just be sure not to use a new one until the previous one expired since they don't stack.)
The $5 mini-booster is for those folks who don't want to be bothered to go out and find a physical card. -

OK, so the screwup is that Gametrailers.com still says "so tune into GTTV on September 12th to find out who wins a brand new 2009 Toyota Matrix...".

Yeah, the episode airs at 10:30 PM Pacific on the 12th, but that's 1:30 AM Eastern on the 13th.
Sorry if anyone was confused and good luck to the contestants!

Actually, it's 10:00pm Pacific/1:00am Eastern. -

Something I think would be a welcome addition to base control for SG leadership is a little more fine tuning in the "permissions". It would be great as promotions become available to allow specific access to specific SG items, i.e; storage, inspir collectors, vault, etc.. Something to have our new recruites look forward to.
Has this been brought up already?
[/ QUOTE ]
Many, many times. A more robust permissions system has been asked for since bases first appeared. -
[ QUOTE ]
My toon that could use it is not using the flight power right now and so would have to respec just to add the flight power. With having a perm jet pack I would want to respec that toon just to be able to use it but I won't pay $4.99 a month just to keep it,
[/ QUOTE ]
I still don't understand why you'd have to respec to use the jet pack. The jet pack GIVES you the Fly power... it's not just a costume piece. In fact, you couldn't use the jet pack and the "real" Fly power together anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
I won't pay $4.99 for the temp Jet Pack that only last one month and should be permanent if I have to pay for it. Just to use it I would have to waste two respecs, one to add flight and another to remove flight a month later.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, what? The jetpack IS a flight power. The whole point is you wouldn't have to take the Fly power/pool at all... -

In the 4-year history of the game there was ONE prestige grant which was intended to celebrate a UNIQUE circumstance (the CoX IP being sold to NCSoft, and the re-investment in the game from the new owners).
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe there were actually two. One recently based on the number of members in your SG and the other was something like 10k I think. Something to do with "Yea, the prices are WAY out of whack and we're fixing that."
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the first one (in July 2006) was 20k per member, just like the one last year.
EDIT to include direct link to the actual July 2006 announcement . -

Now here it is not even a year later and some people actually think there's a frozen-water-spheroid's chance in a-very-hot-place-of-eternal-punishment that this unique circumstance will ever be repeated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there have been two prestige gifts (and no, I'm not talking about the accidental second one given after the one they meant to give last December). The first prestige grant was during a Double XP Weekend in July 2006 ( Here's a thread where someone thinks it's a bug that they suddenly gained a bunch of prestige, but Posi pops in and says it's not a bug.... there's also a link to an announcement by Cricket of the prestige gift).
Now, I have my doubt that they'll ever do it again, now that sg's can have 150 members, but you never know. Bottom line is, they HAVE done it more than once. -
[ QUOTE ]
Did you PLAY Khelds when they first came out? Wasn't much beyond the first 10 levels in the way of Kheld arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't ANYTHING beyond the first 10 levels for Khelds when they first came out. Also, as much as people still complain about Khelds now, they were much weaker when they first came out than they are now.
VEATs had a much better launch than Khelds by far. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'll leave the actual tallying to someone with the patience to log 50s to each side and sit in Ouro counting individual arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Without a doubt, villains have several more storyarcs than do heroes, and for the most part, CoV's arcs are higher quality than CoH's. Villain arcs tend to be much shorter, but that's due in part to the mission writers learning from the mistakes of the original CoH missions and eliminating a lot of the needless repetitive missions and street-sweeping.
CoH contacts probably technically have more missions, but a lot of those are one-off missions (not a lot different from Police Band/Newspaper missions) or meaningless hunt and patrol missions. -

I wanted to be the first to let you all know that the primary feature list for Issue 13: Architect is now live!

He's not saying "Issue 13: Architect" is now live. He's saying the "primary feature list for Issue 13: Architect" is. IOW, the feature list is finally released.
Yes, it is odd wording and I hadn't noticed it before, but no, he's not saying Issue 13 is live. -

Interesting Info thread, eh?
Sounds like a RickRoll to me, lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, because when you mouse over the link (here it is again -- "Interesting Info Thread" ), at the bottom of your browser it says it takes you to a YouTube video instead of a thread on these forums that's been viewed over 20,000 times, right?
If you haven't seen that thread then I guess you just don't come to the forums very often... -

[ QUOTE ]
I just had a terrible thought. What if the allowable mobs in your mission are restricted to the gladiators your toon has collected?
[/ QUOTE ]
That would mean you'd have to log in to a particular character before you could invent a mission. Granted, this is all speculation at this point, but the mission creation tool will probably be made available from the opening screen, after you log in and before you pick a server.
Why do I say that? These missions will not be server specific. If you make a mission, anyone who plays the game, regardless of server, will have access. Currently with the trading system, if someone puts up an enhancement for sale from say, the Triumph server, anyone in any other server will be able to see it almost in real time. I suspect a similar procedure will take place regarding missions. When you finish a mission, everyone in all the servers will see it show up on a list at about the same time, and will be able to start trying it out, regardless of which server you usually frequent.
So our mission design parameters won't be restricted to one particular toon, and therefore the Devs won't be able to limit our mission design to the badge list one of your toons develops. At least, that's my current hypothesis. Without more info, we're grabbing at straws currently.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a list of features for the mission creator in the "Interesting Info" thread (the one about the recent survey). I wouldn't take it as gospel, of course, but it might hint at some of what we may see.
One thing that is on that list, though, relates to this discussion:
[ QUOTE ]
Creators don't have access to high level content (environments, NPCs, etc.) until their own characters have encountered/defeated them in the main game.
[/ QUOTE ]
That may or may not end up being true, of course. If it does, though, I just wonder how they would restrict something like that if not by using badges or souveniers earned by individual characters. -

[ QUOTE ]
Pain domination..... Notice how dominators are not included in the formula.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you nuts?
dominators receive the power set, masterminds receive a weaker version (more than likely), and no other AT receives it.
Dominators are definately in THIS formula.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they're not. -
[ QUOTE ]
"a massive, fundamental reworking" of the power system in CoX would essentially mean rebuilding the game's engine. Massive means big. Fundamental means core, in this context. You'd have to make big core changes to the game, which means you're building a new engine.
So you two are basically arguing over semantics.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, we weren't really arguing at all. We were both pretty much in agreement that the game engine has nothing to do with power customization, as stated by BaB in the post that I linked to. With you saying that you'd have to rebuild the engine to get power customization, I'm guessing you didn't actually read his post since BaB says that rebuilding or upgrading the engine wouldn't have anything to do with power customization.
Again, "game engine" does NOT = "all the various systems that make up the game."
