((OOC: OK, trying to cover some way to explain why MW is not being effected by the Supradine.))
[ QUOTE ]
While Paul cradled his head he reeled forward and placed his hands behind his head, and began to weep. His fingers lightly brushed a small spot on the base of his neck where a needle much like the ones that injected the drug into Jack and Crystal, had punctured him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Master Wonderful stumbled a little as he appeared from his flash of light. "Well now I think I know what the Highway to Hell feels like." He looked around at his fellow escapees. Whatever was effecting them hadn't seemed to work on him yet. He noticed the needle mark in the back of Paul's neck and decided to check his own. The first thing he noticed was the chip, which he determined to be the cause of his loss of power. However, he did not feel a place where a needle might have entered, save for the on he'd injected the inhibiter liquid into prior to their departure from the Rikti facility. He wasn't sure why he hadn't been injected with whatever was effecting Jack, Crystal, and Paul, but he figured it was for the best at the moment.
He looked at Jack, concern showing in his face and voice as he spoke, "Hey, think you can use that trick to get us to street level? Not sure how long those two or you can make it without getting some proffessional attention." -
[ QUOTE ]
"Master Wonderful," Jack shouted using his name for the first time. "We have to go. Time to teleport. We can come back later."
[/ QUOTE ]
Master Wonderful snapped back to reality from his staredown with Syn. The former doctor was backing down the hall to join the other Lost in their retreat with a parting word. "Some other time, Connor MacBeth! Perhaps when we see each other in hell!"
Master Wonderful grabbed his shirt and coat. He also grabbed Paul's belt without thinking to much about what the flashing red light might mean before joining the rest of fellow escapees.
"OK, Jack, let's go." -
[ QUOTE ]
With out objection the control was pressed to open the lock on the straps. Jack fired a beam of energy at his comrades so powerful that if it had not been for healing it would have done them a lot of harm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Connor stepped from his chamber. Much to the surprise of Jack, Crystal, and Paul, the lanky man's hair had returned to it's natural, dirty blonde state. The pain that Syn had caused him now seemed like a distant memory. The de-powered superhero wasted no time getting to the pile of clothes. He rummaged through trying to find the case of syringes he'd put in his coat before earlier. He soon found the item he was looking for and scanned the room. There was only one Lost he was interested in right now. As he looked he was smiling Confident Grin #10 (the "I have a score to settle with someone in this room" grin that also looked sly, maliscious and slightly insane). "SYN!!! WHAT WAS IT YOU WERE SAYING ABOUT ME NO LONGER SMILING?!?!"
Foolish boy! What hope do you have against me with out your powers? Came the disembodied voice of the former human in Connor's head. He still couldn't see Dr. Syn among the new breed of Lost but he knew what was coming next. Instinctively, Connor pulled a syringe from the case and injected the smokey pink substance into his neck just as a mind bolt arched across the room at him. He still felt the pain from the attack, but he remained conscious as the following subduing attack failed to effect him. Connor rose from his crouching position and having now located his target, the grin never fading from his face.
"WHAT!?!?" This time Adelbert spoke out loud. "HOW CAN THIS BE!?!?"
Connor lifted the spent syringe to eye level and pocketed the case it had come from. "Psychic inhibiter. It helps me to fight off the more debilitating effects of mind attacks. OK, Syn, time for round two." -
There is currently no transfer function in the game... However, they are planning to add one in, I think, Issue #3.
-
While it hurt, he'd gotten the reaction he'd wanted from Syn. He spoke again, his grin widening into Confident Grin #8 (the "This idiot is way to easy to annoy." grin), "You know, I think the name 'Sin' is an insult to the consept, seeing as how are uglier than it!"
He was hit by another, more painful mind blast. He ignored the pain and attempted to break his bonds again. Again with little luck.
"I assume this device transforms people into what ever ugly monstrocity you call yourself. Some genious you are! Making a psycic who's weak to his own power!"
Another mind blast wracked his body with even worse pain than the last two. He focused past the pain an attempted tried again to break his bonds. Still nothing.
"Heh, you clearly lack any intieligence to think beyond what your actions will do for you!" He was shouting at the top of his lungs now, smirking at the once human doctor. He was paying no attention to the fact that Paul and Crystal were now being brought in. "That's why Crey fired you! It's because you and your labs were using your funding to do expiraments that Crey Biotech was not paying you for! It's because you were trying to alter the genes of any student who passed through the walls of that school! Even if that student was the son of the President and CEO of MacBeth Technologies! You just don't like the fact that I've shown how stupid you really are! HA!"
Master Wonderful knew he'd hit the nail on the head with that statement and that it struck a nerve with Syn. He was now getting hit repeatedly with mental blasts, causing him to convulse uncontrolably. He stuggled with his restraints and felt them cut into his wrists and give ever so slightly before pain subsided. He was feeling drained and weak, but he was still concious, all though just barely. He weakly lifted his head up and looked out the window at his assailant, showing Syn Confident Grin #2 (the "You know I'm right, don't you." grin).
The being who was once Adelbert Syn narrowed his eyes at Master Wonderful. Whatever you are smiling about, Connor MacBeth, you won't be once the machine starts.
((OOC: Note, MW is probably to weak to attempt to do any more damage to his bonds at this point, but the pain forced his adrenhaline to pump hard enough to allow his arms to get them to their current weakened state. Don't plan on this trick happening again any time soon.)) -
((OOC: Well, I'm back a little sooner than expected. Thanks to Jen for doing part of putting MW in the restraints.))
The moment he went unconscious, the dreams started. Rather they were more nightmares than dreams. Before now they'd always been the same: he would find himself layed out on a strange examination table surrounded by odd shapes who looked like they were wearing some sort of biohazard suits, however, they never looked quite human. These shapes chattered to each other in some strange toung, sounding vaguely human and yet somehow not remotely human at all. He would look into the clear mask of one of his captors and he would see something that looked like a hybrid of human and Rikti. That is never until this time. The room he was in still had strange apparatices and he was still strapped to an examination table. However, this time some of the figures clear looked human, although they were still in the biohazard suits. He also noticed, mixed in among the humans unprotected figures who looked like they were of the Rikti, the only difference was their faces seemed to have more human characteristics than they should have. However, the result was still the same, who ever they were their intention was to expirament on him.
-----------------------------------
Perhaps twenty minutes after Jack had been placed into his tube, an Eramite came in with the next prisoner.
Master Wonderful's brilliant pink suit contrasted heavily with the asteure environment of the lab. Like Jack, he was unconscious. This time, however, Jack could see exactly what happened.
As before, the Eramite brought the captive to the group of Anomolous. The Anomolous ringed the unconscious hero, pointing their hands towards him. His body jerked under the onslaught of psychic power as they examined him.
The decision was silent, made wholly on psychic wavelengths. Though no word was spoken, the Anomolous put their hands down at the same time, and the Eramite brought Master Wonderful towards the same device that Jack had been placed in.
Like Jack, Master W. was stripped of his jacket and his shirt: Jack had been permitted to keep his short-sleeved T-shirt, but apparantly the long-sleeved shirt that Master W. was wearing bothered the Eramite.
The tube, also, was somewhat different: it was darker, and its straps were black instead of silver. When Master W. was secured, he had no headband, like jack, but rather a head restraint, with strange, glowing nodes at the temples.
The Eramite walked to a different panel, waving his hand over a different set of controls. The noise that the machine made was a completely different one; instead of the deep vibrating noise, it made a much softer whirring sound.
In the top of the tube that enclosed Master W., a light turned on. It slowly moved downwards over the unconscious hero. Its purpose was obvious: he was being scanned. Once the light had gotten to the bottom of the tube, it turned off, and the machine whirred and hummed for a moment.
Master W.'s body gave a sudden, sharp jerk, even unconscious, as if he had been shot. Afterwards, there a ding. It was the same sound, oddly enough, as Jack's microwave made when he was finished heating up a TV dinner.
The Eramite returned to Master W.'s tube and removed him from it, turning him around to carry him to Jack's section of the machine. When he turned his back, Jack could see what the tube had done to his companion: at the base of Master W.'s skull was a small, glowing point of light - some sort of chip or nanodevice. There was something about it, its color perhaps, that made it seem threatening.
Master Wonderful was put in the tube next to Jack's, and bound in the exact same way. He was fitted with an identical headband, and left to slump, unconscious, against his bonds. The Eramite closed the tube and walked away, mingling with the other Eramites on the floor. None of them approached the machine... apparantly there were still prisoners on their way down.
-----------------------------------------
A few seconds after the Eramite had started mingling amongst the others, Master Wonderful let out a horrified cry as he came to consciousness with a start.
He looked around the room in horror. He'd been in a place like this only once before. He struggled against his restraints but it was no use.
I must inform you, Connor MacBeth, that unlike the last time you were held in a Rikti facility, steps have be taken to subdue your adrehnaline induced strength, said a voice in his side his mind. Master Wonderful looked around trying to find who it was that was speaking to him psycicly trying to figure out how it new his name. You are quite easy to read, Connor MacBeth. Far easier than the one who put you in this situation to begin with. That is how we know your name. We also know this will be the third time you've been altered.
THIRD time? Connor thought to himself. I've only been altered once before this. Only the Rikti ever did any expiramenting on me.
I know that this is not the first time someone has told you this, but believe me, Connor MacBeth, the Rikti were not the first to experament on you... A new form moved into Connor's field of vision. It was a far greater atrocity than any Lost he'd seen before, seeming to move more like how he remembered how the Rikti did. And inspite of it's inhuman appearance, it somehow seemed all to familiar to him. Though I don't need to read your fractured memories to tell you that, experament #529. I could have told you, because it was I who preformed the first set of procedures on you. Before I became what you see before you. Before Crey Biotech 'let me go' for doing so called 'bad science.' Even before you're father sent you to this country all those years ago. Back when you were in that boarding school, a school which I ran. Though my name means nothing now, you once knew me as the headmaster, Dr. Adelbert Syn!
This time Master Wonderful responded outloud, having worked up enough strength to flash a week Confident Grin #7 (the "I'm so going to have fun annoying you." confident grin, which light seems to gleam off of in even the darkest places), "I'm sorry, who are you?"
He got a sharp headache for his trouble. It wasn't enough to knock him out, but it still hurt like hell.
INSOLENT WELP!
((OOC Note: I'm not outright intending for Adelbert Syn to be the main bad guy (though he could be for all we know). He's just a convinient way to create exposition around the part of Master Wonderful's background that he's blocked off.)) -
((OOC: Sorry about not having anything up since my last post. Cable connection went caput in a storm Saturday evening and I'm guessing that it will be restored no sooner than Tuesday evening. I guess just leave MW in a coma until I can get back on. Or you could try writing him. Just keep in mind his major weakness is against psycic attacks and the fact that he seems to always get hit by any that effect groups (ergo what happened with Jack). I'll try to write again soon.))
-
((OOC: I am fully aware of the fact that Jack did not have Master Wonderful as one of his targets, but just go with it, I'll explain it in a bit.))
[ QUOTE ]
Several of the attackers grabbed their heads and roared in pain (some seemed unafected) as Jacks headache was suddenly transferred to them; the pain must have hit them like a train. It was so painful they were blinded. Parts of Jacks mutant powers meant he could with stand headaches that would kill a normal person; they still hurt like hell for him though. After using the power his headaches eased off as it always did.
[/ QUOTE ]
Master Wonderful doubled over, clutching his head, his face distorted in a sort of silent scream. He didn't know exactly what Jack had done, but what ever it was seemed to be spilling over and getting him. He was feeling pain unlike he'd felt before, not even the Lost seemed to cause him this much pain. Focus, Connor. Focus. Work through the pain. You've delt with pain before. Unfortunately, at this moment, his mantra didn't seem to be working. -
[ QUOTE ]
She followed his finger - and saw the Vahz charging up the tunnel. "Um... run?"
[/ QUOTE ]
"You run if you want," Master Wonderful said as he stepped forward, "but I'm itching for a round two."
Master Wonderful flashed Cofident Grin #3 (the "This is going to be fun smile.") and addressd the front Vahz. "Welcome the Butt Kick Cafe. I'm your maitred'. Today's special... knuckle sandwich."
His confidence faultered when he finally saw the seemingly endless number of the undead masses coming down the hall, causing his grin to change to Confident Grin #5 (the "Ah, nut bunnies." grin which actually doesn't look all that confident at all). "Um, I don't think I have a table big enough for you and your friends..."
Master Wonderful turned back to the others and said, "Ok, I'm going to agree with Crystal. We need to high tail it out of here."
((OOC: If you think the numbered grins are over the top, let me know and I'll not use them again.)) -
[ QUOTE ]
"So... Wonderful... Um... Why the heck did you get caught up in all this. And if you don't mind me asking, what's with the Pink? Not that it's bad or anything... Hell I've seen stranger. But I gotta admit, shows that you're a REAL man to wear that with a smile!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Master Wonderful's smile faultered a little. "Well, I'm trying correct a couple screw ups I made a little while ago. I picked up a report that these zombies were attacking a hospital. It turns out they were there to accuire a specific target, a woman named Amy Harris. Unfortunately, I, uh, got a little distracted and first lost the reaper who took Mrs. Harris and then got attacked by a Nazi hit squad and lost the second reaper.
"As far as the pink goes. Well, an apparent side effect of my powers is that they cause my hair and the area around my eyes to turn pink for a while. So I figured what the hell and made my entire costume pink." The grin widened again. "Besides, as you said, it takes a real man to wear this color in public."
The pink clad hero paused. "Oh, I told you my name, but I haven't taken the liberty of asking what yours are. I don't want to just call you 'Ms. Supportive,' 'Angst Boy,' and 'Friendly Guy.'" -
((OOC: The J. Jonah Jamison comment was meant to be a reference to who Steven Harris was like in Connor/MW's opinion, probably should have made that clear in my post.))

"You have got to get me the name of tailor man. But we had an attack by the Vahz here! Look I was just saying we need to get into the sewers and try to find Doctor Sanstad, Girl Genius, and Harris... If they're going after the Doc's family as well I have no clue what to do... He doesn't give the info about his family out to ANYONE."
[/ QUOTE ]
"Well then..... Count me in. I suggest we find out some how and go and help them." Jack said stating the obvious.
"Maybe Pretty in Pink here can help us?" Jack said pointing to the new hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Master Wonderful turned and looked at the three students. "Did you say 'Harris?' You mean Steven Harris? I came here trying to find him to keep him from doing something stupid when he found out about... well, I'll explain on the way. We need to find them fast. Oh, and the name isn't 'Pretty in Pink.' I'm Master Wonderful.' The pink super hero flashed his glinting grin that seemed make a "ting" sound as the light refected off his teeth. -
Steel Canyon - MacBeth Technologies, Ltd. American Headquarters - Top Floor
Master Wonderful pacedaround his private workout room on the top floor of the American headquaters of his father's company. He was frustrated and angry with himself. Twice in the same day he'd let himself lose leads on information about the Vahzilok's current plans.
"Why Connor!? Why did you have to go and be so COCKY!"
As if to puncutate his last word, the normally grinning superhero hit a near by punching bag, causing its contents to explode in all directions.
A slightly perterped voice came from behind him, " Ach, ye must really be more careful with yer equipment. We cannea just continue to write these off as faulty manufacutering pracitces."
Connor MacBeth turned and looked at the aging Scotsman who had been acting as his personal assistant and guardian since he was shipped off to America as a child by his father twenty years ago. He smiled at the elder gentleman. "Yes, Martin, I know. It's been a rough day for me so far."
Martin grimaced, "Unfortunately, it seems that it's going to get rougher. That is if you intended to go through with this. I feel I must remind you that..."
"..That my father doesn't approve of my habit of risking my life to save those lower than me," He'd heard this spiel ever since he got these powers manifested themselves. "I know. But what would you do if you were in my position, old man?"
The elder man gave a sad smile, "I'd not let those monsters rest 'til Hell saw fit to remove them from this mortal coil."
"So, how bad is the info, old friend?"
Martin sighed and handed Connor some papers. "It seems that those zombies decided to take a woman by the name of Amy Harris."
Connor looked up from the documents. "As in the J. Jonah Jameson of network television in Paragon City?"
"The same. I've tried to find his location, to see if he'd found out about the attack, unfortunately he come up missing. Last place that he was supposed to have gone was Paragon University, apparently trying to dig up dirt for one of his 'Under the Mask' expose's. Unfortunately, reports are coming in that the university was also just attacked by the Vahzilok. Police are searching the scene now."
Connor grinned, "Well, that's as good a place as any for Master Wonderful to start searching."
As Master Wonderful started to head towards the roof, Martin grabbed his arm to stop him. "Connor, you may want to take these with you." He pulled out a box containg five syringes a smokey pink substance in them.
Master Wonderful gave a crooked smile. "Martin, I hardly think that I have to worry about mind control when dealing with the Vahz."
"You can never be to careful, Connor." The look on Martin's face was stern. This was a look that Connor was all to familiar with. He decided that it would be better not to argue with the old man. Taking the container he put it in his inside coat pocket for safe keeping. He ran up to the roof and flew in the direction of the university as fast as he could.
When he got there he couldn't believe his eyes. This was far worse than anything he'd happened to come across in his dealings with Dr. Vahzilok's creations. There were windows blown out and bodies every where. The only words that he uttered as he landed a few feet from the theater were "My God... What happened here?"
(OOC: Tag Crystal, Jack, and/or Paul.) -
(OOC: Sorry for the belated post, been getting some vector calc. done for my class tomorrow.)
[ QUOTE ]
Although the reaper was still held firmly by the throat it laughed.
"What are you going to do now......Mr Hero." It asked in a mocking tone.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Well, if you must know, this for starters." With that, Master Wonderful gut puched the villain, putting him down for the count. He possitioned the unconscious reaper over his shoulder and then jumped out the window a flew away from the hospital. He didn't get very far, however, being hit by rocket shot from a near by roof, nearly knocking him out of the air. The pink hero spun around to see a group of Nacht standing on a roof preparing getting ready to fire another rocket at him.
"I so don't have time for this." Master Wonderful sighed. Then his perpetual grin got bigger. "But who am I to not let Vogel's goons have their fun."
He proceeded to fly directly at the Nazi's, forcing them to scatter. Landing on the far side of the roof, he dropped the reaper, stretched a little and dropped to his fighting stance.
"You wanna play? Let's play."
The pink wonder launched himself into the fray going after the heavy ordinance first. While he was making short work of the Nazi with the rocket launcher he was getting pelted on all side by his comrades, and he was starting to feel the sting of their blows. He was soon shifting his attention between his foes, attempting to keep as many off their feet as he could so he could give himself a chance to focus through his pain. Eventually, the battle turned in his favor as now went toe to toe with only the black clad Underofficer. It was at that moment that he noticed that the reaper that he had been carrying was no long where he'd left him.
"Man, you made me loose my lead." With that, Master Wonderful hit the final Fifth Column soldier with a mighty uppercut, sending him over the edge of the building. Frustrated, the pink hero flew off to see if he could find information on who the Vahzilok's comatose hostage was and who they planned to black mail into aiding them. -
(OOC: Sorry for the lack of action. I don't write fight scenes very well.)
[ QUOTE ]
Back up plan, the other Reaper replied as he picked up the chart at the end of the bed and looked at it. He looked up at the woman in the bed deep in her coma, Hello Amy Harris.
[/ QUOTE ]
Noise of a fight could be heard from down the hall of Amy Harris's room. From what the two Reapers could hear, their Cadavers had incountered some would be do gooder. Soon the sounds of combat stopped, which seemed to in dicate to the two human Vhaz that thier undead had been successful at stopping the intruder.
Then they heard a knock on the door. Both of the Reapers knew that none of the cadavers were intelegent enough to be able to do that. Cautiously one moved towards the door, but all his caution did him little good as the door was launched from it's hinges and crushed the unlucky human against the far wall. There, framed in the doorway was a lanky seven and a half foot tall pink haired man wearing bright green shoes and shirt, pink tie, slacks and double breasted jacket and pinked framed glasses with bright green lenses who seemed to be quite deliberately taking the time to pose dramaticly with his hands in halfway into his pants pockets, wearing the cockiest and most arrogant grin on his face.
"What's up doc?"
The reaper that was still conscious stared at Master Wonderful in disbelief. He wasn't sure what was more bizzar: this man that kick a door across the room who was wearing a PINK business suit, or the fact that he used such a rediculous quip when he entered the room. He was pretty certain the former won hands down.
"You must have been really lucky to make it here, seeing that you are dressed as you are," quiped the Reaper, smirking. "Your boyfriend pick that out for you?"
Master Wonderful continued to grin. "What can I say. It takes a real man to be able to wear this get up."
With that the Reaper shot his cross bow at the pink hero, the bolt piercing the suit but seeming to have little effect upon Master Wonderful. In response Master Wonderful rushed forward, grabbed the Reaper and pinned him painfully agaist the wall. The hero spoke in a hushed tone, still wearing his trademark glinting grin, "Now tell me, what are your plan is. Why the intrest in the comatose woman?"
