Yeah, I only seem to sell in Talos and IP at this point myself, and even then only the Mutant and Science stores in IP.
The stores in Steel are pretty easy to find if you know where they are, but no one seems to flock to them really quickly. The stores in Skyway seem to be all over the place.
But, like I said, he only mentioned Talos and IP. So I definitely don't think this is the big "OMG ENHANCEMENT NERF, GAME IS DOOMED" warning we are making it out to be. -
Here's the thing, though:
Statesman only said the stores in Talos and IP.
Either he just listed Talos and IP as examples, or he means that those stores in the Talos and IP are the only stores he wants to see gone. It's no surprise that those cater to the level 20-30 crowd: a crowd that already has contacts in Striga and (I'd assume) Croatoa that sell enhancements.
Maybe he just wants to see people cut back on going all the way back to Talos to sell. It could be a change as simple as that. That he's been teaming with too many high level heroes on whatever server he plays on that keep holding up his pick-up group because they have to go back to Talos to sell.
Either way, the levels this would directly affect are levels that have multiple contacts that sell all enhancements. The stores don't sell anything other than Power 10 SOs, so it wouldn't be that big a loss if they were removed and would mean more people would have to sell at Ghost Falcon and the SO contacts. -
Not if they add more Ghost Falcon-like contacts in the game. You can sell at him and General Hammond, not to mention the level 30 SO stores.
Simply put: this sounds like something he WANTS to do, but can't. The wording of it "If he had a chance, etc" sounds like he hates stores, but other devs or people in power don't want him to touch it.
But even if the stores do disappear, it's not like we don't have Power 10 issues even with them. The Power 10 system needs to be done away with and the drop system would need to be revised. And its the very fact that so much would have to change if those stores were deleted from the game that I think is keeping Statesman from doing it.
In other words: Statesman might hate the stores. But that doesn't mean Geko, Positron, Pohsyb, or another dev hasn't stepped up and smacked him for suggesting they remove them. So please don't call doom until we get a final redname response or it's up on test. -

For years, I was anti-stamina and anti-hasten (I still don't see ANY instances where Hasten is "needed". Ever), but recently, I've begun to see how some genuinely need Stamina.
[/ QUOTE ]
You've been anti-Stamina and anti-Hasten for years now? In a game that's only been out about 14 months?
Here's how I read the OP:
Statesman clearly doesn't like the idea that people just go to the store every few levels and buy all their enhancements. He wants us to use our drops more instead of just running to Talos to sell after every mission. I see the stores leaving, the Power 10 concept being removed, drops of all kinds increasing, and new contact stores like the level 30s have for level 10s and 20s being implemented.
The Desperation idea sounds okay in theory, but I'd hate to be a defender teaming with the kind of blaster that yells at them for healing them when they want to do "mad phat damage" and then yells at them for letting them die when the blaster takes too much heat.
As someone who sent Statesman a whole list of possible uses for the University that weren't skills-based, I am prepared to gloat if any of them are implemented. -

The NCSoft bag? [Interested]
[/ QUOTE ]
So Statesman, when can we expect the City of NCSoft Bags expansion? -
Thank you for correcting me mid-rant.
Also: ONLY comic book fans with PC backgrounds. -
You came here and said, in this order:
That we only have 35,000 players.
That this is the BIGGEST failure in Cryptic's history.
That this is a niche game.
That we are all dorks from EQ that just moved over.
That this game has not attracted one person who wasn't already playing a MMORPG or comic book PC game.
You posted all of these as facts. It was only after we called you out on talking out of your [censored] that you played your old "IT'S AN OPINION!!11111" card. You posted a bunch of attacks not only at this game but at the players in this thread. You are getting what you asked for: the flames you need for whatever deep seeded personal reason.
So go notify a moderator. You've done that before, too: start a flamewar, proved you couldn't win it, then ran to the moderators to delete it and make the bad men who have fact on their side go away. -
Uh oh, Revolution Pr0 was just trying to martyr himself for our benefit people.
WHY DID WE NOT LISTEN TO HIM?
Oh, that's right: all the self-indulgent ranting that made up 99% of his posts. -
So, in other words, you don't want us to assume about your OWN assumptions that this game is just siphoning off other games and everyone who has ever played CoH just came over from Freedom Force of EQ?
You post your own opinions as if they are facts to make us assume, so you get the reactionary flames you require because you like attention. Congrats, you win. -
[ QUOTE ]
You're not wrong, neither am I really. Its really not a fact we can prove to one side or the other, they are simply both opinions and I'm merely stating mine is all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then, for the love of god, SAY it's your opinion.
In the post I responded to, you used blanket terms such as "CoH HASN'T made any new customers" or "The only people who play CoH are ones with PC backgrounds."
You did this before, too: say something as if it's fact and then, when people proved you wrong, went back and whined that it was just an opinion. If it's an opinion, then use "It is my belief that CoH hasn't made any new customers, they just siphoned it off others" not "CoH just siphons off other MMORPGs." -

but it certainly has created new customers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have something to admit. Before I picked up this MMO I never realy payed much attention to comics. I liked spiderman, but I certainly never kept good track of his comics.
Since then though...
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, Kitty.
I used to be a huge fan of X-Men... maybe 8 or 10 years ago. Since then and up until I started CoH when it launched, I only really read one comic: Deadpool. And that was infrequently to say the least. I think I only own maybe 2 issues that are past issue 25 of that comic. It wasn't until they switched to Agent X that I bought it every month, around the time CoH came out. But that is a REAL niche title (unlike the fake niche Pr0 is throwing around to describe CoH).
Since CoH came out, I've jumped to 15-20 comics I read monthly. So not only is CoH making new customers for itself, they are making new customers for the comic industry. -
Revolution, I'm proving you wrong with the biggest fact of all: I'm here.
Before CoH, I was a Mac user who only really played PS2 games. Because of CoH, I bought a PC, a graphic card, and have been here for over a year ever since.
So no, you're wrong. Very wrong. -

You've joined zzMDude on my ignore list...have a nice day.

BURRRRRRN!
But, saying that CoH is NC Soft's most disappointing title to date is kind of ingenuine. It's like someone who's pro-Atari attacking Ninteno back in the day because Donkey Kong did better in the arcades than Mario Bros did after a year on Nintendo. NC Soft's other games benefitted, as you stated, from Korean accounts that are specific to their region. CoH, on the other hand, didn't have the millions of people paying to play for just an hour to be considered an "active" user. They started in America and went to Korea. It's not like Lineage I or II are lighting the game magazines on fire over here with their American success. -
And I was AutoRPD from last April to March of this year. Same sig and avatar, though.

That just seems kinda sad to me. These are by far the rudest, most flame-filled boards I've been to.

OMG MY GOD, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT WE'RE RUDE? YOU SUCK!

[ QUOTE ]
Who was the guy with his own MMO* who never failed to mention it in ever DOOM post he ever made because his own game was better than CoH in every particular?
I loved that guy.
*Text based hidden cost model
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't that the male Dallus? There's a male and a female one. The female is the one we usually see posting here on the boards in leet speak. The male one is usually seen talking about how his MMO is better than CoH. -
My memory is a little shaky: who did the "Capes not available until level 20 will be the end of this game" rant in style?
-
scaryjapan, I'm just pointing out that we can do this "DOOOOOOM" "FAAAAAANBOI" parrot spiel all day. Neither camp is original in the least. In fact, the "everyone who does or says something I don't like is automatically a fan boy at the crotch of the devs" thing has been around a hell of a lot long and is a hell of a lot less original.
So therein doth thy irony lie. -
Who was the guy with all the doom posts/flame threads during issue 3 being tested? He kept asking the devs to let us make game mods and such. Then he changed his name. Then he disappeared.
Edit: Backagain? -
[ QUOTE ]
On a sidenote, most people are following the creator of this game, as well as the term. So Mr. States, please say something productive, and all you fanboys, you can remove your nose from his crotch and try to be receptive as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
The irony of you attacking people for being unoriginal by using the trite "crotchsniffing fanboy" insult is not lost on me. -
Flamer, you probably missed the BEST Dallus doom post of all time.
It was titled "SERVER TRANSFER COSTS 50 BUCKS???" and the body of the post was just "well u know they will charge 4 it
"
This was 3-4 months ago, by the way.
