((Dodge this... do I sense a Matrix ripoff? *cough* Its all my fault T_T))
The grass rippled under her feet, flattening in a circle around her from a sudden shockwave. In that small frame of time she had bent backwards, the bolt of lightning blasting over her. She shimmered once during all this, then a second time after the bolt had passed and she straightened back up.
"Tsk tsk, don't you know that control is instinctive for those so heavily entwined with it? Not to mention time is an open book for..." She stopped her little brag, eyes slightly crossing and then reaching up swiftly to pull a few hairs down in front of her face. They were burnt.
"You...you..." She glared at him, yanked the couple of hairs out, and rushed at him. "HOW DARE YOU!" -
((Is he in the lightning bolt, or is it just one coming at Syne?))
-
((Wanna see something delicious? Of course, not to H'taed of course <.<
)
When the kick wiffed, Syne stepped back, drew out a golden glowing thread, and plucked it with a finger so that it vibrated widly. The best way to describe what happened for everyone else in the area that moment was a sort of dark pressure, almost like you were about to sneeze, but it never happened.
To her on the other hand, it was much more. She appeared directly behind herself a few moments in the past, everything frozen as if time had stopped. She lowered her hands, thread still kept firm and vibrating, walked over to H'taed just as he had begun to accelerate himself, and kicked him square in the back of the head. It was a simple kick, not much force behind it, but that would amplify many times soon enough when time began to move.
And with that she walked back behind herself, pulled on the thread, and snapped it cleanly in two. The thread disintegrated, and she reappeared where she left off. Not any anyone noticed, all they saw was the dark "sneezing" pressure and her break the thread cleanly in two for no apparent reason.
From there she shifted back into her battle stance and watched the sky, ready to dodge anything that dropped on her.
((He'll feel that kick whenever you feel appropriate :P Since it was during a set moment in time, you can't really be sure what effect it would have on him and/or when it would actually register in his mind that he was struck. Ahh the hoops you have to jump through with time control.))
((Edit: I just thought of a good way to describe it. You know how in the Matrix, they had that little Deja Vu scene about something changing? That's kinda like what she just did. There are repercussions to her doing anything much bigger than a tap on the back of his head. Sure, she could have axe kicked him again while time was stopped, odds are it would have killed him instantly. However, the blast of energy from such a forceful move probably would have ripped the fabric of time, and probably moreso than she could fix. What she did there was weave a small thread of her own, set it in motion, then broke it afterwards. That way she didn't actually affect the fabric of time in its whole, only her small addition. Of course, as I said, had her addition been "sloppy" such as striking a large blow, it would have caused damage.
Blah blah blah, I'll shut up now <.< H'taed gets to decide how much the tap actually hurt, considering the speed he was going. I wont call that.))
((Edit2: Heh, just thought I'd mention that I'm planning on H'taed winning this first fight between them :P It wont be easy, but he should pull out on top)) -
((Ooh, good luck with that O.o On a side note, is it just me or do the forums keep going down? Every once in a while (usually when I have time to post =.=) I'll try to get on and it'll say something to the effect of "You don't have permission to view showflat.php" or "You don't have permission to view /" <.< Its really annoying))
Syne didn't respond, watching him charge to her. When he was nearly there she dropped quickly to the right side and to the ground and swept to trip him, followed by swinging back up to axe kick him as he fell. To add confusion to her already quick and hard to follow movements, the shun still shone brightly off her armor, and she was leaving a slight trail as she moved. -
((Don't worry, I didn't forget those :P I'm just waiting for his reaction before I do...er...something special <.<
)
-
The Synes near him rippled out as if they had never existed, and the energy she was weaving crackled, twisted, turned...and vanished, along with her inside. There wasn't so much as a footprint in the grass, no sign of her in the air, she was just gone from sight.
She was in fact in front of the sun again, weaving faster than before, a rift opening. This rift looked very odd, not like the portals from before per se, more of a spacial anomaly. She was creating space where it shouldn't be, forming shapes of all different sizes. These shapes poured out of the anomaly and while nearly transparent, blocked out the sun like solid objects. Some attached to her feet, some to her legs, some to her chest, to her arms, to her hands, and one to her head. Two also swerved around to her back and attached, expanding and growing. A moment later the sun was blocked momentarily as wing shapes burst from the figure. She dropped to the ground covered in light armor, brighter than white, and large wings of solid temporal energy, a slight faded yellow, on her back. Her boots were pointed and sharp, and all of her armor was light, yet strong. Perfect for keeping mobility while giving strong protection.
The helm shrunk to a headband of sorts, shimmering along with the rest of her armor and in a position to keep her long hair out of her face as she fought. She seemed to shine with light that came from within the armor.
"Of course, I should have expected this from you. Of course, I was prepared. If your sword can pierce this armor, I would be very impressed." Her voice was shimmery like her armor, not the solid voice you hear every day on this planet, it seemed to have a slight echo to it.
She reached pure white armored gloves up to pull her hair back, tying it security with a golden glowing thread she seemed to conjure out the air. With that she shook herself out like a seasoned fighter and visably relaxed her body.
She called up to him. "Are you ready?" -
Syne shimmered during his ascension, the weaving getting more intricate. Up in the air there was a flicker above him, a copy of her above and axe kicking down, aiming for the shoulder of the arm holding the blade. Another Syne appeared beside and slightly below and in front of him, swinging a kick up to his chin. A third popped in behind and below, and directed a kick for the back of his knees.
The triple attack was designed to stun, disarm, or cripple, or with luck more than one at the same time. In the mean time the weaving was almost complete, the air around the Syne on the ground shimmering like pavement on a hot day, beginning to blur her from the amount of raw energy she was outputting. -
((Sorry about the wait, spaced.))
Syne just smiled, as did the sudden occurance of her outside the circle, which spun a kick about waist height at the circle of spinning people, a kick that moved much faster than sound. The crack was heard across the area from the sudden movement through the air, blowing the glass flat out from where the origin of the boom was. Even if the kick didn't connect solidly enough to stop H'taed, the sheer volume of the sonic boom would deafen him. The Syne inside the circle was already prepared in case the kick failed, a thin golden glowing fiber weaving between her hands.
((She's weaving threads from the "fabric" of time :P You'll see more of that, and what they do, I'm sure a bit later.)) -
Syne flickered once, twice, three times as she walked, the after images reappearing for a few moments after every time she did so. She stopped suddenly when H'taed appeared in front of her, keeping her arms crossed across her chest. As he spoke she just smiled, almost as if she was pitying him, then began to walk to and past him on her way to the center of the fray, as if he didn't even exist.
-
((Well, while I don't want to push it, the level I'll be playing at her means you'll probably need him :P
Will edit with a useful post once I get a second to breathe <.<)
-
((Nah, I just made her shimmery because she is a crossdimensional being :P The after images I thought was just a cool looking idea :P And the tokens I just figured would make it easier to keep track of how many times she has layered time ^_^
Nothing came from you, but yeah, you're gonna get it back... mwahahaha!
And you could add in an advance from H'tead if you want, seeing as I'm sure he wasn't planning on another person joining in :P)) -
((Alrighty, I'm just going to leave Alex up on the building for a bit, and introduce something I've been mulling over. I thought that maybe toning H'taed down wasn't exactly fair, and with his level of problem solving to get out of just about anything, I was thinking hey, why not make something unfair? :P Of course she will be scaled to everyone's abilities, not just his, so I'll try to keep it in line so everyone has a chance. Keep in mind that this character is designed as a pain-in-the-butt to fight, and I'll take full advantage of that, to a point of course. Of course this means that, at least around her, H'Taed can step it up a notch again :P I figure this will add some neat twists, I'd love to see him get out of time anomalies created during fights with her ^_^ Expect to see things change that shouldn't otherwise have done so.
Of course, both because she's my character and because she's a time anomaly all of her own, she knows what the "package" is, and intends on stepping in to remove it. :P))
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Syne Thread
Gender: Female
Age: Undetermined (looks 21)
Race: looks Human
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 105 lbs
Eye Color: Emerald green
Skin Color: Extremely pale, no makeup
Hair: Long and flowing, Silver
Description:
Her white latex-like costume seems to shimmer in the light, making her almost difficult to look at. This is not just an illusion, it has to do with the way she moves. While most move forwards and backwards, she moves sideways, up, down, any direction she wants, as dictated by her powers.
Fighting style: Capoeira
She learned this style while travelling the world some time ago, being taught completely in every move. It is her favorite of humanity's fighting styles.
Powers: Flight, Time Warping (described below), Telepsionic control (telekinesis, teleportation of objects), etc
You could call the way she uses this power a "token based" style of fighting. During a fight she will often shimmer just for a moment while executing an attack, or disappear completely to another location, confusing her opponent. What she is really doing is buying time as well as "tokens" for later in the fight, when she will suddenly appear en masse to destroy her opponent in a series of attacks. Her favorite way to do this she has named the "X-Bomb," where she will rapidly appear at all sides creating an X of attacks, poofing in and out of existance while layering on extremely heavy and powerful blows. These "tokens" as they were are really from the shimmers from earlier, her teleporting back in time to deliver these strikes all the while reappearing just after the future attack to finish what she was doing in the past. She is very strict about the rules of time, being extremely careful not to create a paradox, and is extremely careful on how she folds the layers of time.
History:
Due to her existance her history is impossible to describe, as it would cause extreme confusion in a timeline sort of sense. She is simply, for purpose of completion, "here."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small flicker and a figure appeared hovering with her back to the sun, her white costume and silver hair causing her to blend right into the light of the sphere behind her. With arms crossed Syne began to watch this new battle unfold, all the while dropping herself into view of whoever may look her way. This needed to end, now. Her feet touched earth and she gently lowered herself, brushing hair out of her face with one hand, then began to calmly walk towards the group, aware of H'taed watching the show from a small distance away, and counting on that he noticed her. He was the main reason for her interfering in these matters after all. She almost seemed to leave afterimages behind her as she walked, shimmering as she went.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
((Now, to sum everything up for anyone who's confused:
She's there not just because anyone can't have the package, its because -H'taed- cannot. I assume "terrible" things could happen if he opened it, and this cannot be allowed.
She is not meant to be fair. Of course, I don't want to stoop to godmoding so anyone will be able to fight her, and hit her, but do not expect victory to be easy :P Think H'taed's style of fighting, there's a way out of everything.
I will be keeping track of her "tokens" during any fights, so everything should fit in neatly. I would suggest anyone who's fighting her to keep a note of them as well, because the more there are, the harder her "specials" are going to hit, and those could get ugly if the fight goes on too long :P
Keep in mind that she is a sort of "greater being," who wouldn't regularly get involved in this sort of thing. This means that she might act a little high-class, possibly looking down on people, but isn't above taking cheap shots should they serve their purpose for her.
Again, I really don't want to get into godmoding, and I will be trying my hardest to keep her well under that line. I want this to be fun, not just a one-sided smash fest :P
If anyone wants any more info on her, feel free to PM me or leave a note OOC here, I'll add anything you'd like to know.)) -
((I thought I'd poke in and say that sometimes it seems like H'taed is maybe a bit TOO powerful, at least for normal people. I mean, regular villains have a chance at beating AVs, but sometimes it seems like H'taed has a way out of everything.
As for Alex, she seems to be sort of out of the picture for the moment, and seeing as the horizon is clearing a bit for me, I might have to make a second character and jump back in :P)) -
((I dunno about anyone else, but I'm enjoying reading this. I have to tell you all the truth, I cracked a couple days ago. Under the pressure of my parents getting a divorce, working, and trying to do all my final projects, I finally broke down. And to add insult to injury, my computer stopped working earlier today... I had to reformat with no hope of backup. So now what I DID have on my final projects is gone... I'm at the "screw it" point right now, and just reading things, since everything's due tomorrow and I honestly couldn't possibly have everything done by then.
Anyway, its fun to read things!)) -
((Oh, and I should mention don't worry about me and my laggyness on posting x.x I have a few problems of my own I'm taking care of right now, but I'll be sure to keep my head in to watch and direct if I need to :P For story's sake, Alex passed out a while back, and is basically at the mercy of anyone who wants to help or hurt her until I get enough time to work something up for her.
Secondly, I like H'taed. We have our big bad dude of doom, I was hoping someone would slide into that role :P
Also, finals suck, and so does anything that interferes with them x.x)) -
((I'm gonna apologize now for my posts being very sporadic. I've got finals going on the next couple of weeks, as well as work shifts... I'll still try to post as often as I can though!))
Alex hadn't moved much. The thing that had grabbed her had pulled her to the ground, where she had knocked her head pretty hard. When she finally woke up she was being held over a pit, struggling to breathe, and looking H'taed straight in the eye.
"Give it?" she rasped out." She spit in his face, glaring as she slipped in and out of consciousness. -
((Well, Alex is actually being pulled back right now, so you might want to change your post a bit :P))
-
Breathing heavily, she glared up at the man assaulting her, a quick glance to see the man behind him flying forward. Another woman was closing in on the side, and she could see this was getting messy fast. A bomb was conjured, a push connected, and a movement was made. With a burst of strength she kicked off the ground with the grip on the back of her blades, slid out from under the blade, and swung herself back onto her feet.
Holding her side she rolled slowly backwards towards another alleyway, trying to keep a low profile as the others duked it out. What she failed to notice however was the woman on the sidewalk to the side, and bumped right into her. Alex spun with wide eyes and began to apologize, saw the flame ball, and spun again clumsily to try and get away. She knew people wanted what she had grabbed, but this was insane! All of the supers within a mile radius must be coming down on her!
((And yeah, I loved that scene too :P I play that song in the background for just about every post I make that involves my char fighting ^_^ it makes great combat music)) -
((Is the left blade one that was pointed at Alex, or the right blade? O.o I think I missed something))
-
((Seeing as we seem to be talking high levels here, I guess I might have to turn it up a bit :P And sorry about the wait, long day x.x The song I'm referring to a bit later is the one from Ocean's Twelve, if you've ever seen that movie. The Laser Dance.))
When he had first started running around her, she knew he was determined. No more running from this, she'd have to get serious. Reaching down calmly to her mp3 player, Alex switched it over to the song "La Caution - Thé à la Menthe" and pumped up the volume, toe of her right blade tapping the pavement to the beat. As the blades began to swing she began to dodge, taking the passive approach. Smoothly swishing around to dodge the blades, her eyes were closed as if in a trance. She was leading this dance though he may not have known it, leading him on where to strike and gracefully moving out of the way, leading him to a new position.
She began to tire however as he did not, her moves becoming less graceful and more forced. Her breathing was labored, and eventually one of the blades met home, she hadn't moved fast enough. One was all that was needed to bring her down unfortunately for her, and she hit the dirt with a gasp, moving to hold her side where she had been hit with one hand, and holding her chest where the device was held with the other. He was too fast...just too fast. -
There was a tap on H'taed's shoulder, the girl was behind him.
"Looking for me, metal head?"
She had turned around halfway into the alley and came blazing back out again, intending to follow him to see what he was up to. However, since he had disappeared so quickly she had started a search, surprised to find him at the other end of the alleyway so often. ~No more alleys for me, that could lead to trouble~ she thought as she came up quietly behind him.
Now that he knew she was there, she broke into a little breakdance to taunt him, backed up while blowing a kiss, spun around to smack her butt with a wink, and blasted off down the street as fast as she possibly could. Let's see him follow THAT up! -
Alex was startled when this armored man suddenly appeared beside her...was he taunting her? Running backwards? She yanked down her headphones, but didn't stop moving.
"EX-KA-USE me? Do you just run up to all the girls on the street and attempt to get with em with THAT cheesy pickup line?"
She shook her head.
"Well let me tell you something, I don't go for old guys like you, I'm not that kind of girl! So buzz off, metal head!"
With that she kicked to the side, dashing into a thin alleyway between two low buildings. Another kick and a burst of fire behind her, and she was off with her own superspeed, a trash can and some discarded newspapers blowing up into the air from the sudden change of speed. She intended to get as far away from this guy as possible. He KNEW something, and she didn't intend to let him discover any more.
((Lookin good so far! Just remember that only one person can have the device at a time, but of course no one else will know its switched hands unless they saw it happen :P I expect crazy hijinks people!)) -
((Thought I should point out that I mentioned you should message me with your character idea before posting :P If you could just message me now with a little info, that would be great. Also thought I'd say that Alex wouldn't actually run into anyway, she's an MA/SR scrapper, her reflexes are too fast for that :P Try not to control other characters besides your own, if at all possible.))

A Little Information
--------------------------------------------------
In all honesty, there are only three things you need to know.
One: Please contact me with a little info about your character before you enter. I don't really care who or what they are, hero or villain, powers, anything. Just as long as they aren't overwhelmingly powerful you'll be good to go.
Two: Writing skills are essential, as are decent rp skills. Again, I'm not too critical about this, but as long as you think you can write something meaningful, I'm happy with it :P
Three: And this is the most important. No one is to reveal what the "shipment" is except for myself, and this will be near the end. As far as this story goes, everyone is now after the little transportation device that Alex used to carry the box the shipment was in. You can all have your own little theories about what is inside, but for the moment all anyone needs to truly care about is getting that device safely away from everyone else. You are not to transport the item back, you are not to open the shipment. And do not be surprised if, no matter how well you hide, someone finds you! I'm giving everyone free reign right now to use super-awesome tracking skills to find anyone!
--------------------------------------------------
A Bit More Information
--------------------------------------------------
This is just an experiment. Be aware!
Common sense is always nice. Nuff said there I think. Also, this is meant to be more of a combat oriented story. There will be very little, if any, story telling going on, unless of course I stick it in during my posts. Of course, if you have a cool idea, you can always message me to see if it is ok! I do have somewhere I'm going with this, don't worry, all you have to do is stick around.
As for my information:
AIM: Dusk Loup Garou
MSN/Email: rifteverbane@hotmail.com
Feel free to message me on AIM, I'm rarely on MSN, but I do check my email. Just be sure to identify yourself. And of course, you can always PM me of the forums!
For the most part this story will be chaotic, everyone licensed to do everything in their power to keep the item, or take it away from someone else. Be sure to actually let someone take an item from you if their attempt is valid, we want the device to change hands as much as possible!
--------------------------------------------------
Appendix Removal (Dates of Operation)
--------------------------------------------------
**Nov 26th, 9:29pm
Thought I'd add a bit more information. Always check this front page for new info, in case I added something...like this! This story is intended to be funny, and you don't need to use "realistic" game-based characters. For instance, you could play a group of 4 ninjas who are also after the shipment. They could bust down the current holder's door, jump in, trip over each other, and end up in a crumpled heap on the floor while the current holder just watches in awe. You can make it as goofy or as serious as you want, just keep it fun for you and everyone!
Also, many rules will be broken in here. I don't care who goes where, the games can be mixed. Heroes can be in Sharkhead, Villains in Galaxy, don't really care. Just as long as we're having fun, everything goes! Remember that anyone and everyone wants the whatever-it-is, so all sorts of weird characters could pop up in this, its all up to you! -
First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
Without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
Thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on...
Sliding to a stop at the corner of the hallway, she peeled down her headphones to listen to the conversation in the next room. The shipment was going out tonight was it? Not if she had anything to do with it, oh no. Lots of people wanted what was in that shipment, and she planned to take it first. Slipping her headphones back on, she tested her roller blades, cranked the volume up on her mp3 player, and kicked off around the corner.
And so you're back
From outer space
I just walked in to find you here
With that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
You'd be back to bother me...
"WHAT?? GET HER!" Guards streamed out of the security office and steamed towards the level she was on, the girl having moved into the view of cameras. The guards actually protecting the shipment were defeated before they even knew what hit them, a few well placed stun kicks with the wheels of her blades was all that it took. Pulling a small device from her pocket and hitting a button, the rather large box shimmered and disappeared into thin air, the device beeping to say that the data transfer was a success. With the box in sub-space, she slipped the device back into her pants pocket and spun, meeting face to face with a small squad of swat-styled security.
Go on now go walk out the door
Just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
You think I'd crumble
You think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I...
The head of security was writing down the female intruder's features as quickly as possible. Rather punk, with black clothes, a black spiked collar, star tattoo across her left eye, pink hair, pink tinted glasses. Her hair was in a short cut, to the point that if not for her chest she could have been mistaken for a skinny boy. Entering this information into the computers led to a quick search, and fast results. This was the "Dusk Shredder," a newcomer to the supers world, named an anti-hero at best. She was fast, she was smart, and she rarely caused casualties, being very accurate with her kicks to the point of stunning, never killing. She was an odd one for sure, rarely predictable and very unusual in both her fighting style AND lifestyle. In a quick moment the head of security grabbed his assault rifle and slung it over his shoulder, running out the door. They couldn't take this one alone...
I will survive!
As long as I know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
And I'll survive
I will survive!
"Stay where you are! You have the right to remain silent! Anything you say or do will grant us full use of force!" A cheesy, yet classic, line of intimidation. Too bad it didn't work. He had barely finished his sentence before she had laid him out, a quick kick to the side of his neck knocking him unconscious. A few guards hesitated, shocked with the sheer speed of her movements. Others quickly opened fire on her...but she was already gone. Where...how...she was behind them apparently as another guard dropped, and another, and another. They spun to meet her quickly, firing more shots as they backed off. It was all for naught however, as a few scarce later the entire squad as on the floor.
And she was off again. A few shots from a catwalk revealed the head of security rattling away at her, as she hopped up and banked along the wall around the corner and out of sight. Swearing to himself he pulled a radio from his vest and pressed the talk button. "Transfer compromised, I repeat, transfer is compromised!" With that he ran back to the office to transmit the search data off to some far away place, every bit of information "they" would need to know in order to find and intercept her.
Meanwhile, she was already outside and blading down the streets near Atlas Park. There was a smirk on the girl's face. Alex was her name, and she could be hired for any job for the right price. She had some scruples, yes, but if offered enough cash she could "forget" such things. This job however was all for herself. She had overheard some interesting info about this shipment, and if it was anything like what she hoped, it could put her on easy street!
