So this just came across my wire, I listened to two of them yesterday, and have downloaded the rest for our internal team to tap into if interested.
Great soothing voices, mature commentary, and done by honest to good Heroes.
Check it out!

JAY IS LAZY!
So I go off to the little gurls room, and when I returned back to my office someone had hijacked my chair.
I know I'm not crazy, or at least not entirely so, but this was really weird.
I go into the break room/game room, and there is Jay playing a video game, SITTING ON MY CHAIR!
"Oh" he says, "I thought you went home."
So what if I did?
JAY IS LAZY! SEXY but lazy.

Honestly...
...I love our devs.

Technically, Ex Libris is not a Dev, but is instead a Community Co-ordinator.
Which means she is essentially the corporate version of a Kindergarden teacher.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh I know, I'm just too lazy to clarify, and use the blanket term "dev" for everyone at NCNC now ;P
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually the best analogy I have thought of is that Lighthouse is "Julie the Cruise Director," and I'm Gopher! -

(QR) Stepped out of the live event to leave room for others, but I'm a little disappointed in the community expectations on this one.
LIVE EVENTS are always a challenge on MMO's. You rarely, if ever, can afford to make it reach even a fraction of the community. Many games make their start/end totally random events (so the crowds don't compete for lines) and are very short-term (so by the time the message gets out that it's going on and the crowds get too big, it's all over). They even use lower wage actors... not the actual developers... to minimize costs.
Those events reach even fewer people. They give an "allure" to the game- the chance that you MIGHT encounter one, but few ever have... yet people love them.
This one:
<ul type="square">[*]...was announced specifically to maximize availability.[*] ...included extra activities to try to make other fun options for those that couldn't get in. [*] ...included the actual game developers in their signature roles. Heck, some of the vows came right from Manticore's real wedding.[/list]
It might not have been perfect, folks, but it's a whole lot more than most MMO live events.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks Chase,
It is difficult and I have been involved in all types of MMO themed Live Events. For all the chaos it is worth the fun, and ultimately the negative sides to doing things like this.
For those of you that don't know Sean Fish, Manticore, has been a major influence for the City of Heroes & Villains stories. He explained to me recently that he and his wife Jen, Sister Psyche, have found a new way each year to renew their vows.
This year we were able to help them attain this romantic tradition in a virtual space.
Was there chaos? Yes
Were there disconnects? Yes
Did everyone get to see the event? No
Did everyone have fun???
So with all that, we still did the event for even the small amount of people we could accommodate, knowing that we would have to respond to all the above where the answers should have been opposite or equal.
We are passionate about this game, we play the game, we have fun, and we can only hope that you can say the same.
Thanks again to all the Community members that helped out today, I know I'll miss folks so I won't try to name y'all because there were between 15-20 people that came forward and jumped in to help keep things running smoothly on the sidelines. Lighthouse has a motto, and it is one that I fully support, he always says, "Let's keep the party rolling!" So we'll continue to do what we can, but sometimes we are going to need help from y'all to give it a little push.
Happy Valentines Day, now I have to see about a girl!

MMOCheese,
That was my fault, I was assigned to this event and meeting the community needs. I had a bit of car problems, and basic bad day syndrome and it affected this event.
I take responsibility for that...not the truck problems, my mechanic is going to get an ear full.
Either way, there is still spots open on the Villain side so if you get in come to the dark side and I am teleporting people to the Usher so shout out in Broadcast.
Ex -
Still an hour an a half to go on the event, so if you are feeling clinched in Atlas or Mercy come on over to Pocket D, the ski slopes are open, we are wiggling with DJ Zero, and just having a good time.
Sadly not everyone that shows up is going to get to see this event. We know that, we are doing our best to keep things maintained but there is a lot of people that came out today so all we can do is try to run the event as many times as possible.
For those waiting in line please turn off powers, and do your part to not slow things down.

Now to be fair Casual, V-Day is in itself an exclusive holiday. Glad to hear you made the correct choice, between game and RL.
For the hopeful participants in life's events may they get all the love they deserve, for those of us out in the Verse, we do what we can to make life shiny.
We are in game, participating in the Chaos of the day.
Ex -
Devs,
I know this will probably be lost in a sea of invective not seen since the ED days, but please seriously consider rescinding this. It will have precisely the opposite effect of what you hope to do by making it *easier* to farm influence. All a farmer needs to do is spawn the first mission of their chosen SF or TF for eight, have the other seven alt accounts log off, and have a permanent farm all to themselves.
On the other hand, it will be actively harmful to people who try to do TFs and SFs in the correct way by making it progressively harder on teams who lose members to attrition. And frankly, almost all TF teams lose one or more members somewhere along the way.
In short, please ditch this change until it can be replaced with something more appropriate. -

RE: the live event
Casual players ain't on test, yo.
In a more verbose fashion: I realize that CoH is a very friendly game to us casual folks, and I don't mind the occasional hardcore fanservice. Y'all go have a good time with your $10 wedding packs.
BUT... it's never fun to be so obviously disinvited to party with the cool kids.
I look forward to the resumption of normalcy, ie. events which are advertised more than 2 days in advance, last longer than 3 hours, and don't require some new installation of software.
Let us not even bother with the fact that only a fraction of a percent of the hardcore CoH folks will actually get in- these other hurdles block me and players like me far more effectively than some usher ever could.
So, in the future, Ex, Lighthouse- could we have more community building please, and less community exclusion? I believe that is your job, yes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Casual,
I'm going to be honest with you, that both Lighthouse and I raised our concern flags over this event. The main reason was the limitations of the event. We also knew that it would be a really great time for the people that do get in, and a creative opportunity for some of our various community groups, like video editors, DJ's, role play, etc.
It was a tough decision, and with the wedding pack, server upgrades, double XP, and the list goes on, our window for announcements and planning was narrow.
Herein lays the beauty of this event. I will not be attending the wedding, both Lighthouse and I will be in Pocket D, or surrounding areas of the game participating in some fun Valentines Day Events and activities all promoted, planned, and made possible by members of this community.
Who knows maybe even folks out for Vengeance Day will have some fun, or get a good gank!
Pleasing everyone is impossible, but we do our best to share the fun as much as we can, without limiting events just because we can't reach everyone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, my suggestion box open, and my calendar handy to see what fun things we can cook up for the coming year.
So lets get in there and have fun!

Just so I'm clear on this... you want us to hang out in Pocket D, and then with a 15 minute warning we all need to race to the Atlas or Mercy usher hoping we can get in? Hmm... sounds... chaotic...
I see dozens of characters all swarming around the usher, clicking madly, in the hope of being one of the few that makes it in. And since it's being done so late in the day, the entire East Coast will be home from work, making it that much harder to get in.
Not to be a party poop, but I think a lot of people are going to get very frustrated.
[/ QUOTE ]
No need to hang in Pocket D. Hang in Atlas - I will be.
And, I get the impression that you click once, and you get a random CHANCE of being "in" or not. If not, you can't click again, until they reset the Usher ... which would happen when they send out that fifteen-minute alert.
The polite thing to do, if that is the case, is to click on the Usher, then step away to make room for everyone else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Once a person has attended the wedding they will get a token, not a physical token but event token which will not allow them entrance a second time. Hopefully this helps to quell some concerns.
The main reason behind keeping the party centrally located is the chance for instancing Atlas Park and Mercy. If people want to wait in those areas they are more than welcome to do so, however the Ski Chalet and theme parties over in Pocket D are sideline events for people to enjoy regardless of the wedding event. Join the party or wait in line, we'd like to present you with some options.
Also something you may have not considered is copying over two characters, one parked at the usher of your choice and the other in attendance at the theme party in Pocket D. Once you hear the 15 minute announcements swap over to the other character and voile click away.
Either way we hope to have you join us on Test server tomorrow for some fun.
Regards,

We want everyone possible to enjoy this event while we can. The live event will be running from 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) for only three hours, it will be repeated as often as we are able during that time.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I understand you need to keep it vague in order to keep expectations realistic, can you give us a rough idea on how long the ceremony might last? 20 or 30 minutes? Just trying to get an idea of my chances to get into one.
Thanks Ex!
[/ QUOTE ]
The event is instanced, 100 people can get into each run of the event. Equal number of Villains and Heroes can be present, most of the Signature characters are heroic, so you can do some math in this area, but it is all based on lottery until number caps are met.

Ok you talk about the event, you tell us its a limited access (100) at a time, but where is the actual wedding being held, how do we enter or attempt to enter the actual event.
[/ QUOTE ]
The ushers to get into the event are located in Atlas Park (near Ms. Liberty), and Mercy Island (near Fateweaver). We will make 15 minute announcements before the ushers will be open to guide you to the live event, at that point, it is up to the ushers to decide.
Ushers will escort you to the location.

YAH!
I can't wait to see what kind of contests there will be, this will be fun! I've already gotten RR up to the Atlas guide, in a new outfit formal for the Wedding on Test.
Do you think there might be Live server contests and the like, in addition to any of the cool stuff you're doing on test over the Fling?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd love to support live events over the next few weeks so anyone currently organizing email eventsinthecity@ncsoft.com with event fliers and details and we will post your flier as well as get you on the internal calendar.
I'm looking to pull off two costume contests tomorrow, so in preparation, make sure you know how to copy a character to test server and the two themes running right now are:
Costume Contest Themes:
Formal Wear!
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!
Those are both ideas that were presented by members of the community, so dress for the occasion.
The ushers to get into the event are located in Atlas Park, and Mercy Island, but we thought we would bring both sides together to party during the interim in Pocket D. We will make 15 minute announcements before the ushers will be open to guide you to the live event, at that point, it is up to the ushers to decide.

We sent out this Valentines Day Newsletter yesterday and we have had a lot of excitement and discussion regarding the news.
I'm splitting this topic out of the other one to highlight and pinpoint questions, and finer details regarding the events portion of the news.
We have some community level events that will coincide with the "Live Event" planned for the test server tomorrow. Manticore and Sister Psyche who are married in real life will be coming in game to renew their vows, there will be a host of our development team there to celebrate the occasion including Positron who will be officiating. We want everyone possible to enjoy this event while we can. The live event will be running from 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) for only three hours, it will be repeated as often as we are able during that time.
Coinciding with that live event on test server Lighthouse and Ex Libris will be hosting bachelor and bachelorette parties in Pocket D. For these activities we are reaching out to community members to come and get involved, plan, play, and party with the Community while you wait for your chance to get into the live event. The "Live Event" is specifically designed and has limited access, so waiting for your chance to get in can be fun and entertaining, but that is up to you!
What do we have cooking? So far some costume themed contests, and there is talk about hitting the slopes. If you have ideas for themes, wish to get involved, or have something to share with the community PM or email exlibris@ncsoft.com.
We will be making more formal announcements about these parties this afternoon.
In the meantime if you have questions about the "Live Event" or the two week "Spring Fling Event" then please post them here and we will gather them and respond as we are able.
Please make sure to denote which event you are referring to in your question.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,
Ex Libris -

I wonder how my winged character would look in a tuxedo? Well, when I get paid on Friday, I'll find out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Before you move too fast, I've *heard* (but can't confirm, as I'm not in game and my comp is on the fritz again) that you can't combine the new tux coat with wings or capes, at least on males. You may want to double-check that first -
Hmm. That jacket *is* pretty awesomesauce. I may have to break down and get it now.
And, by some perverse coincidence, it actually works out for me that there isn't a new tux pants costume part.... Hah!
