How about a few redside respecs on Friday? They're quick and can get superteamers (or alts) a favor of the well or some quick xps.
-
I took my TW scrapper out to Night Ward and found to my surprise time manipulating critters. Not going to get into what they were because I don't want to ruin the story for anybody else that wants to run the arcs, but they were quite the challenge. I almost started to feel bad for what we do...and then I remembered all NPCs are dirty cheaters. I'm looking at you Anti-Matter with your two auras and you too Dream Doctor, you staff fighting illusionist.
Baub and I got in on a Magisterium run tonight. They must have seriously changed it since I ran this on beta because I don't remember it being this big of a pain. It's pretty straightforward to the last fight and then, it gets gimmicky. Don't stand in the lightning, kill the lights, move the Olympian guards. It looks like if we're going to try for The Really Hard Way, we're going to need experience at the trial, debuffs, a league that can work together and more debuffs. I think that it would be a good idea to bring as many illusion/mind trollers as possible because he will be stupidly high to us, but he's an invuln and there's a huge hole in his resists there.
I imagine that we would need a leader that could give clear instructions as well as knowing when specific strategies were needed. In consideration of that, I'm calling not it in advance. But I am willing to contribute to planning sessions as needed.Especially after we have more information.
Current score is Cat Spark 0 Tyrant 2. Stupid dog lover. -
Well, at least she didn't sic the Clockwork King on us.
I'd love to get another trial in on Friday. MoM sounds good...but I've only ran it a few times. I think that we could pull it off if strategy is discussed beforehand. The trial is well designed to allow for planning between stages. I do think that we might need to do a mixed team because taunt is very useful during the second phase. When MoM goes well, it goes really well...and when it doesn't, it goes really poorly. -
I think that if we got some PUG debuffers and brought our own we could do it. Baub has Shadow Decay (dark/rad defender), King has TheMagicMan (ill/rad troller), Hedge has Toondra (earth/cold troller), MP has Mountain Persona (earth/kin troller) and I could bring Cat Spark (fire/kin troller) or Lady Midday (demon/dark mastermind). We could also swap in alts as needed because some alts might be more ideal for this trial.
When I ran it on beta, I think it was before they changed it to be more challenging because it seemed fairly straightforward and not that difficult with a well built league. -
That's a good point. I've got a couple T4'd incarnates, but I do realize that not everybody is as OCD (that really should be CDO so it's alphabetical, the way it SHOULD be) as I am. I'd like to jump in there and see what we can do.
FYI-If you need quick Cimerora access, take the TUNNEL to Night Ward and get the explore badge in the Midnighter Mansion. -
I think that we have a really good shot at it if we stack the league with some of our superteam alumni and limit pick up folks to +3 or force multipliers. I'm not a fan of making limitations like this but, Tyrant is a 54+5 AV. He is going to be a right pain to take down while he's still connected to the Well of the Furies.

Since I23 is dropping tomorrow, any interest in trying for The Really Hard Way badge on Friday?

Great outing last night. We pulled off a +2 Renault strike force that went very smoothly. After the group started to dissipate, the stragglers joined an itrial. That too, went well. King, PC, Ten and I all pulled a very rare table for a Keyes. Sometimes the RNG loves us.
I thought that was a perfect stopping point and decided to call it.
Tomorrow Baub and I are visiting some friends and probably won't make it. I understand that there will probably be some brainstorming and I'd like to throw my 2 inf in.
I'd really like for the next team to have a narrow focus either by limiting powersets or archetype. Personally, my preference would be to limit my archetype because I'd like to have more freedom in choosing powersets.
I'd also like to have a free to play option. Darkness Affinity sounds like fun, but a f2p/premium player would have to unlock Darkness Affinity and controller. -
I just wanted to throw out another idea that we might want to take into consideration when determining our next group. It seems to that whatever we decide upon, there should be an option that f2p/premium players can choose to join. I know darkness affinity was mentioned as an option, but for a f2p/premium player they would have to pay to unlock darkness affinity and controllers. I'm not suggesting that we not consider darkness affinity, just that we combine it with something else like dark miasma, which is free and available for defenders which is also a free AT.
The logic behind this is that when I23 hits, f2p/premium players will be able to join supergroups. This means we just might get some new folks.
I also have a request for tonight-any objections to running a mixed team tonight? Since I23 is dropping soon, I would love to get my TW/Elec scrapper to 50 so I can get my grubby little hands on Excalibur. I would then like to use it to beat up Ms. Lib and possibly her mom too. -
Quote:Agreed! So here's my pitch.
I think it's time for people to start lobbying for their favorites.
My idea is for a single AT or flavor of AT like troller/dom, to be determined by the hive mind, group. Ideally, there would be no discussion of who was bringing what powerset. This would make it interesting because nobody could plan on bringing something the group was lacking. For example, on the guns team, there was two sonics, two thermals and a force field. When we hit later levels, it was not unusual to have hard capped resist or defense. This was great, but after a while it started to feel too safe to me.
For those that would like to play every powerset (waves to Big King) and would like some flexibility (updates list of played/unplayed powersets), this would give them the opportunity to play the powerset that they haven't had a chance to get to yet. Personally, there are powersets that I just have gotten a chance to get to because they weren't feasible for superteam or because they don't have the level of soloability that I need.
This would also allow new people to join with their existing characters. Instead of new people rolling up new characters, they could bring existing characters to check out our group. I know that rolling up a new character can be a long process to check out a group that they're not committed to join.
Leaving the final choice up to the hive mind could give people a chance to play that AT that they never had a chance to level. I've got a plant/fire dom that I leveled before the changes to doms were made. I'd like to try out a dom again but recent teams haven't allowed for many doms.
This would give the OCD among us (waves to PersonaMix) satisfaction because the icons would always be in order or if not, they would at least be the same color. -
Quote:Voting has usually been open anyone that wanted to vote. If you think that you might play, then you are more than welcome to vote. Real life can be be pretty darn boring sometimes, but is still very important. I hope that your son has an easy recovery from surgery.
Sadly, I probably shouldn't get a vote, since I doubt if I'll be playing much more often in the future than I have in the recent past. Final exams, surgery (my son, not me), out of town guests... the string of excuses is long and boring, and summer isn't looking much better. Still, I love all the ideas and I'd like to jump in when I can with whatever you all come up with.
Quote:Fire is one of the few powersets which is available as a primary and secondary for every archetype (I think that's true), so an all fire/fire team could allow every AT, while still stacking lots of things, especially DOTs. This is just my opinion but I prefer superteams that have limitations or a narrow focus to keep the challenge interesting.
Quote:I think elec/elec is the next runner up, but it's missing a couple of melee ATs, if I recall. And you have to pretend storm = electric.
The elec team was a pretty potent group. I brought a kin/elec defender and all I had to do was keep the scrappers supplied with speed boost while they hit everything with Lightning Rod and/or Shield Charge. I eventually quit trying to hit Fulcrum Shift because my target was usually dead by the time the power went.
EDIT-The elec team wasn't one of our projects. It was a team that many of us participated in which is why I'm mentioning it. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem revisiting it because there's been ports and proliferations made since then. However, I would prefer it if the allowed archetypes were limited in some way. -
Wow. Great ideas so far. I'm liking the ways you guys think and would like to subscribe to your respective newsletters.
Quote:I just hit 42 (I am the answer to everything! For another true "super" team experience, all Dark Affinity. It's new and will stack quite well.
The heal (Twilight Grasp) is huge and slotted to ED for heal and recharge, each person would be able to fully heal the whole team every 4 seconds.
8 Tar Patches... wow. Being a pseudopet, the -30 resist debuff is the same as Defenders.
8 Darkest Nights is overkill for normal mobs; AVs will have a real effect to their -tohit even with their resistance. The -dmg isn't part of AV resists so when they hit it'll be a fluffy hit.
Speaking of fluffy... 8 of them, doing what you do.
8 fully slotted Shadow Falls gives 47ish def and caps energy, neg and psi resists.
The new power, Fade, x8 would give 119% def, and cap out s/l resists.
Actually after typing all this out, I'm not as convinced stacking Dark Affinity is so "super". It looks incredibly safe, you won't get hit, if it hits it'll be for not much and then you can heal that up easily enough. However there's nothing for endurance or recharge. Still, I'll throw it out there.) on my dark/dark troller and I wanted to make a clarification about Darkness Affinity. Soul Absorbtion is freaking awesome for increasing regen and recovery for the group. Does nothing for recharge, but does make life better on the blue bar. Think of it as Stygian Circle for your team.
I am disappoint that you did not include Howling Twilight. I know that there are some that refuse to take it because it's a rez, but that's not all it does. It's an auto-hit -regen attack that has a stun. Oh, and it can rez multiple people.
I think that if we were to do another darkness team, it should be limited to one AT or flavor of AT (dom/troller) because the previous one allowed almost every AT.
I understand that other people like the idea of an all shield defense team, but that really doesn't work for me. Keep in mind Phalanx Fighting has an 8 foot range which means you have to be pretty close to get benefit from it. According to PWiki, it caps at 3 people. This means that you're going to have to try and keep at least 4 scrappers in the same small area. Grant Cover is 15 feet which is almost double Phalanx Fighting, but still isn't much. It looks good on paper but I think the reality will be much different.
I guess I'm just not into the idea of an all melee group. This is just my opinion and a reflection of my personal playstyle, but when I roll a scrapper/brute/tanker/stalker, I do so with the idea that I won't need a group to level because I build for solo capability. When I group, I prefer to play force multipliers that become much stronger because they're in a group. -
Just realized that we have RL plans tomorrow and might be late or not able to show.
-
Epic +4 Cuda tonight. Thanks to everybody for sticking it out.
There's been a few ideas for our next group thrown around.
1) A single AT group
2) An all kb group
3) A 'Make it Rain' group
I did want to suggest that if anybody wanted to do an all tank team, that they join in on Tanker Tuesday if possible. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect with an all tank team. NuclearMedicine is great at getting everybody that shows up on a team. -
DD is a pretty straightforward trial. Beat up lots of baddies and then move on to the boss. It is very possible to get Master of DD in one run. My warshade got it on the first time through. The few times that I've been on DD trials that have failed, it was because there wasn't enough level shifted people.
MoM is a bit trickier though. Moving the storms around might be our bottleneck. But I'm certainly willing to give it a shot. -
I am so in for an all time MoM or DD. It's my opinion that our HoT would override the DoT in the second phase of MoM.
Not to be overly contrary, but we did do an all melee team, the bladed team. It wasn't limited by AT because we had brutes, widows and stalkers. But like Starry said, there are more options now (Titan Weapons, Street Justice and Staff fighting) than there were then.
King brings up a good point. Doms are rarely seen in our projects. An all dom team would be interesting. If we're going to consider a single archetype group, doms should be an option. -
Quote:If you need converters and don't want to wait for them to drop, you can buy them at any merit vendor.Sunday was a blast. Ship raid, Apex (WST), Tin Mage = lots of all kinds of merits. Scored a Ragnorak/Knockback at some point, too. Now I'm short of converters. I want to convert the Ragnorak, and I have a Celerity that wants to be a +stealth.
I think the single-AT team is a decent idea. I'm OK with narrower themes, too. We should kick around more ideas this Friday, see what is piquing people's interest. Last time around, it was pretty clear that Beam and Time were the lead horses. This time, I don't see a frontrunner.
The other thing I want to say as we start to wrap up is I really grew to love illusion/time. It took me a while to warm up to it, but it's really turned out to be a great combination, solo and on teams, and at the incarnate level, too. I have as much fun playing her as I do playing my widow, and the ill/time is definitely more useful.
Good point. When we started the time team, time was the new shiny and everybody was looking forward to playing it. There isn't any new shinies to get excited about. This is why I think playing a single AT group would be a good idea. It would give people a chance to check out powersets that they're curious about, give people that want to play every powerset a chance to play what they're missing and let anybody with an existing corruptor join in if they want.
I'm glad that you enjoy your ill/time. It seemed to me that when we started talking about playing a time st, you might really enjoy an illusion troller. -
Quote:Fixed that for you StarryYou can book us for weddings with an open bar and children's birthday parties and bar mitzvahs/bat mitzvahs that have ice cream, cake or ice cream cake and pony rides, too!
I really like the idea of a Numerus group, however, if the hive mind decides to pursue this, my opinion is that it should be kept as an option and not as a requirement. As much as I would like to join in, I've had the same naming strategy for my superteamers for long enough that bringing a superteamer that didn't have the initials 'EF' would feel kind of wrong.
Thanks for leading the ship raid Rangle. It was much fun and many Vanguard merits were acquired by all.I was curious as to how our group would do on a ship raid and now I know.
-
I'd like to suggest something to the hive mind in regards to the next group. We've done single powersets (traps, trick arrow, time) and broad themes (radiation, earth, dark, bladed). However, we've never done a group that was limited by archetype.
This is why I'd like to suggest that our next group be a group of force multipliers. We could go controller, defender or corruptor. Personally, I prefer corruptor or controller. Containment works for everybody on team and scourge kicks in a <50% health. This would allow people some freedom of choice in deciding what they would like to bring to the party. In fact, if the hive mind did agree to this option, I think that we shouldn't reveal what powersets we chose. The logic behind this is with other groups people chose powersets that complemented the rest of the group. Not knowing would add an element of chance.
I will confess that part of my suggesting this is I'm burnt out on playing a single target buffer. If I was to chose to play another buffer, it would be AoE like cold.
This is just my 2 inf. Any thoughts? -
Quote:This just confirms it; Devs hate superteamers. This incarnation we went red side so they must really hate us.Curses! Again the devs show neither awareness nor respect for our team's needs!
I am sure they are plotting to release several new powersets just after we decide our next theme.
But in all fairness, we did bring it on ourselves with our constant abuse of stackable buffs/debuffs and walking through +4/x8 content with no melee types. I'm sure that Zwillinger or somebody else from Paragon Studios will be at one of our next meetings to take the nerf bat to us. -
I just wanted to mention that if anybody was planning on waiting till superteam starts to pick up their Freebie Friday goodies, that is not possible because Freebie Friday ends an hour before we start.
-
Quote:This is correct. We won't have the level shifts from our incarnate goodies, but we will have our incarnate goodies. The Apex TF was introduced when there was only the alpha slot, so I wouldn't expect us to be able to utilize incarnate shifts.
10+1joy
I think that it's very possible to get an Apex and LRSF in one night. Apex can be ran fairly quickly, it's a pretty straightforward task force. -
I think that most of us would enjoy an opportunity to go to Atlas and show States that we are far cooler and meaner than him.
There was also talk of an Apex on Friday because it's the WST. Any chance of a master run to make it more interesting? -
