I have a level 35 ice/stom, it took me a few goes to get the build right, but its now pretty good solo or in a team.

The first thing I would recommend trying is to replace snowstorm with shiver, I can't notice any difference in the debuff effect, plus in teams all the melee people can actually see what they are doing (poor design choice on the snow storm effect I feel). I have frequently been on teams who prefer not to have the debuff at all because of the visual effect up close. This also helps with endurance, which I found a problem.

Second thing, which I found made a huge difference, is to swap arctic air for thunder clap. As someone already mentioned, you normally don't want to stand in the middle of a group of higher levels, using an aura as control. Plus thunder clap has a great range and quick recharge for an aoe hard control power. The huge endurance cost of arctic air also caused me problems when solo.

Steamy mist and hurricane are great powers, as mentioned above, and I can't imagine my build without them.

I dropped frostbite as I like to cycle freezing rain/ ice slick and it stops them bouncing, plus with either shiver or snowstorm nothing moves that much anyway.

I've really enjoyed playing my Ice/Storm controller to 33. Even though its low on damage at the moment it has great control and the big cloud at 38 . However, I got Jack Frost a level ago and he is so disappointing.

I have grav and ill trollers and a fire dom and all the pets seem to work normally, i.e. do what I expect them to. So what is going on with Jack Frost? He is described as a melee pet, and I know he has an ice sword (I saw him use it when he thought I wasn't looking ), so why does he insist on standing way behind me firing those crappy little ice bolts 99% of the time?

He doesn't recharge fast enough to re-cast him toe to toe with foes every mob, and I find that sometimes even when I do this he sticks to that ice bolt. So what am I doing wrong?

Am I expecting too much after playing the illusion and fire sets or is there a trick to getting him to actually do something?

I think the reference to intangible here was in respect of whether it could be attacked/cast attacks (i.e phased). I have never seen the pet become intangible in this respect.
