“Now, why don’t you stop your complaining? You should be honoured to be my mount, now we must be getting close I think I see smoke over there”

Mirel pointed a little to the left of their current heading, almost there, she just hoped that no one else was going to finish off this thing before she got there, that would be quite embrassing.
The Drone continued to grumble but landed at the designated area, just as all the attacks landed on the crab creature's exposed weakspot.

It begun to flash red, one of the claws fired off and skidded to a halt in the road, the break seemed clean, as if designed to work this way.

There was a brief pause where it lay still, seemingly doing nothing before the machinery inside it whirred again, flipping on it's front once more, now with the left claw gone, a machinegun looking object had replaced it.

It spammed pink energy bullets in a frontal 45 degree cone for a couple of seconds before preforming a straight dash attack with the remaining claw, quickly retreating back to it's former position to once again spam more pink bullets.

The body was flickering red permentantly now, the trope of a damage indicator clearly in full effect with it.
  2. Talos Island

The Drone muttered under it's breath again at being called 'Yip yip'

"Fine, fine...was waiting to see if you were going to get eaten but it doesn't look like the case..."

    "Hold on hefty McLargehuge..."

With that the Thrusts flared fully into life...blasting towards Kings Row.

    Kings Row

The Beast seemed totally impassive about hitting the large robot, it didn't think, it merely existed, though being stuck in place with that Entangeling arrow was new, it simply stood stock still, continuing it's attack pattern.

The Missle hit, while it didn't do any real damage, the creature once again flickered red and flipped over onto it's back, one leg still pinned to the ground, it whirred and groaned in protest as the legs wiggled.
  3. Personally enjoy the Directors Cut of Daredevil (and ONLY the directors cut, as with Blade Runner, I've never seen the normal version), it wasn't great but it was enjoyable.

I didn't mind the race change of Kingpin because....well...is there anyone else out there with an actual Kingpin style body build and decent acting chops besides Michael Clarke Duncan?
  4. Kings Row: Crab Battle

The Robot Crab was, remarkably sturdy beast, the joy of having six legs and a squat appearance, however the speed at which it was hit did cause it to wobble slightly, a stumble and flickering a red colour, registering the hit, it flipped over onto it's back, it's legs wiggling in the air for a moment, showing the big glowing red button before self righting.

However, once it had righted itself it continued on it's path, the attacks a ridiculously easy pattern to dodge with anyone with half a brain could avoid, The beast would require more than simply knocking it over to be defeated.

Though someone small and nimble enough could get underneath the crab, it was only use to dealing with two dimensions after all.

It would take a concerted effort to bring the thing down...and a basic guess at video game laws with what required it's actual defeat.

    Sharkshead Isle:
"Ech if that speedster knocks one more drone out...I'm...you know what..Elise!"

    "Yes Dad?"

The voice of a perky teenage girl answered, however it did not belong to a perky teenage girl, it belongs to a hulking warbot, decorated in pink with a black heart symbol on it, armed to the teeth and a formidable fighter in her own right, even without the backup she normally had.

"Go to Kings Row, make sure this runs smoothly, you're the only one I trust with this task..."

"Ok ETA 10 minutes to arrival..."

The warbot lumbered outside, engaging it's hyperthrusters as it blasted a hole in the ground, heading for Kings Row...

    Talos Island:

The Drone protested, "geez woman, you got legs, you can walk, do I really have to carry you?"

This one lacked the speech style, infact it spoke with a Midwest accent.

Muttering under it's mechanized breath, "you aren't exactly light either, could do with losing a few pounds there hefty..."

"Oh and Scales can damn well walk, I am not going to be carrying that mass of reptillian muscle..."
  5. Interestingly my US account was already <myname>US since I assumed I couldn't have the same name on both US and EU accounts so account name, really not that fussed, nobody is going to see the EU<accountname> thing.

However I'll be peeved if I lose my global name, strangely enough I'm using my US account for the forums since it doesn't have the STUPID _EU on the end of it, it's the same person (me) just with different accounts.

Admittedly I am going to simply go through my US account and delete the hell out of most of my virtue characters AND change my global name the day before this goes through and switch it to Dr_Mech allowing me hopefully to sail through with my global name intact.
  6. Edward sighed.

"Alright I've seen two responses to this thing...guess I better send out the drones to gather the newcomers..."

He dispatched drones to return to all those they could find, giving a warning that a large creature was on the rampage and that they would be required to defeat it. They also displayed a little map showing where this hulking thing was running amok and providing directions to the nearest monorail for those not located in Kings Row.

"Ech now I know what people say when they mean 'trying to herd cats'...though I refuse to be some kind of behind the scenes benefitor to these new people...simply isn't my style, lets get this mess cleaned up then I can go back to taunting the heroes of Paragon City."

Actually the FULL English Breakfast is bacon, sausages, black pudding, fried egg, beans, mushroom, large tomato, hash brown, fried bread.

For the all day full English breakfast (sometimes it's used as a dinner replacement) add chips (or fries as you Americans call them) to that.

With a cup of tea to wash it all down with.
  8. Edward's eyes opened wide as he looked at the incoming rift. It was big, really big, lord knows what was coming through that.

Switching in to contact all the Drones he had sent out.

"Alright, I want eyes on the scene, pull away from your current missions and head towards this location, not too close though."

The Drones at various locations simply took off, not offering any kind of explanation as to why they were leaving but throughout Kings Row, people looking to the skies could see there were atleast six drones on duty all converging on a single point.

The skies darkened as the huge rip in reality swirled about in the sky, the large tear in space/time easily noticable from most locations within Kings Row. With a flash something very large was dropped through the rift and landed with an almighty clang.

Standing there was one gigantic mechanical crab. Coloured Gunmetal grey apart from a red glow coming from underneath. The beast only knew one thing, that it would continue it's attack pattern it had been doing before it was bought here.

It scuttled from side to side, crushing cars in it's path. Proceeding to attack nothing inparticular with a left claw swipe, then a right claw swipe and then blowing a stream of bubbles which, while very large, did nothing to the surrounding area. Where it came from that stream of bubbles had been a devastating attack but here the bubbles abided by the physics of this dimension.

Every so often it would let out a high pitched very computerized roar before continuing with the pattern.

Usually used after the reveal of a plan, "So we do this and, bob's your uncle, we score ourselves some nice loot."

The full phrase, atleast in my area is usually, "as sure as Bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt."

Fanny being an old english name here...not what you filthy, filthy Americans use it for.

    Filthy!
  10. The Drone was flattened and knocked off it's feet but far from injured, it awaited for the new arrival to untangle herself from it before launching into the same spiel it had given the large gentleman it had arrived to give the pamphlet to. In addition to the usual spiel it recieved an update on where the woman was from, this time an actually known universe.

"You ARR from Portal orgination deSIGnaYTion PEToria, welcome to Paragon City, We are curRENTlee at war With EMperor Coal, deSIGaYTion Tyrant!"

Having two in the same place was a handy two for one deal right there and also incredibly efficient, it liked effcinecy of this degree.

Turning to the hulking man it proffered the pamphlet again.

    "ExPLAINs all querys!"

With the firing of retro thrusts the small little clunky robot landed beside the man...Kings Row was busy today, this one just happened to be the closest, the robot was all about efficiency, efficiency and oil baths, it loved them both equally.

In the voice that only a robot or a horrible speech program on a computer could produce, unnatural, stilted and mispronouncing the most simple of words.

"May I SUggest PUTtinG that WoMan down sir?"

The robot held out the pamphlet, however it was also armed with a gatling auto-laser, limited self defense in a world of super heroes but against less advanced or less empowered cultures it could be quite deadly.

"Please read THIS LitERaTUre, it will PROvide all the INFORmaTIOn that YOU will ReqUIRE on you recent Arrr-rival in this wonderful DIMEnSCION."

"Do NOT try to attack THIS UNIT, it will REsult in offensive action and also Hero INTERVENTION..."

  13. He's an obese misogynist gangster who must take medication to keep him sane. She's a man-hating wisecracking Valkyrie who inherited a spooky stately manor from her late maiden aunt. They fight crime!

Wow...I don't think I could get two more opposite characters, I smell sitcom!
  14. Edward looked at his robotic drones.

"Alright, I know I shouldn't be doing this, letting them just struggle to survive but someone has got to offer an orientation for this dimensional visitors."

He tapped away on the monitor, "ok we've got the first confirmed entry at Kings Row, normally I'd just let the heroes get involved and reorientate them but I want to get these people back where they came from and with as few people knowing as possible."

The drones saluted as Edward turned to them, "alright, you, Gigatron, go greet this new arrival, take this with you."

Edward held out the 'welcome to Primal Earth' informational pamphlet which he'd liberated from Portal Corp a long time ago, "that should give them a rough idea of what to do and where to go."

With that the Drone took the pamphlet and clanked off outside, a few seconds later the sound of firing rockets was heard as it took off towards Paragon City.

((From now on the characters will be greeted by the Drones just shortly after they arrive IF they're still near the place the portal dumped them out, if not then, obviously, they won't see the robot and get to discover all the joys of Paragonian/Rogue Island life on their own. The pamphlet contains basic information about Primal Earth, where dimensional refugees should be directed to etc.))
  15. Edward looked up at the monitor in his lab.

    "Rift has been opened, tracking..."

Edward sighed, this was not going to be fun, he still hadn't figured a way of closing the dimensional barriers and calming the portal storm, it was just too unpredictable, too chaotic for him to work around.

    "Dimension of rift origination designation...unknown..."

Edward sighed and rubbed his forehead, "I'm getting the feeling I'm going to be hearing that a lot, most of these dimensions are either going to have been closed off by portal corp or simply not found yet."

He took a long swig of his stone cold coffee.

"Alright, lets just see where this takes us..."
  16. ((Welcome one and all to an interdimensional extravangza, bought to you by one Dr_Mechano and Deviousme!

What this topic is about is, as suggested by the titles, a crossover event between not just the Unionverse and the Virtueverse but many other universes as well.

Got a character from another MMO you want to bring into the CoH universe? This be the place for you! Not just MMOs either, how about a character from something different, say a side scrolling beat-em up (the name and character of which you make up yourself, lets not get too copyright infringing here people) or the myriad of other things.

So yes, this is a crossover of truly epic proportions, those of both the Unionverse and the Virtueverse are welcome to post here.

    Now...on with the multiversal show!))
    __________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

In a secret Lab on Sharkshead Isle: Unionverse

One Doctor Edward Johnson aka the infamous Doctor Mechano had been busy, very busy. Sure the 'Dream partner' and 'New you' sidelines has all been chugging along but he had grown bored, he wanted to something, something with SCIENCE!

Deep in the subterranian complex beneath his factory he had been busy working, perfecting his means of interdimensional travel. He had used it once before but each time it was used, it was a one way trip, requiring a device of equal ingenuinity and science to be built in the dimension of destination in order for him to return.

Now he wanted to slip as quickly and easily to other dimensions as those scientifically miscalculating fools at Portal Corp.

There were many dimensions where a man of science could come to be a king, rule over the uneducated peasantry that would bow to him as though he were a god or ones which had normally rare minerals fully in abundance or even more advanced technology he could plunder.

Edward stroked his thick, white beard as he looked over his portal device, it wasn't smooth, sleek or sophisticated by any means, formed mostly of salvaged parts but it looked like it would do the job.

The elderly scientist lowered his goggles and proceed to power his machine on...

...something was amiss, the power readings had gone off the charts, the red alert siren begun to wail. Some fool had activated a portal into this reality the very same time he had activated one into theirs!

The effects could be catastrophic, a rift swallowing the plant level of catastrophic.

Working his mechanical hand over the control panel as quickly as he could, if he couldn't shut this down it would rip a truly astronomical hole in the fabric of space and time itself...the Jedi would certainly feel that one.

Bringing the portal back under control and eventually shutting it off, he breathed a ragged sigh of relief. The world ending event had thankfully been averted...and without the involvement of heroic intervention, which was always nice.

However the reading he was getting were not good, while a gigantic rip that could swallow the world had been stopped, it seemed that much small, people sized rips had begun to open up, rippling across both this planet and any other mirror Earth dimension, a veritable storm of portals.

"Oh dear...hmm...well by my calculations this interdimensional storm of activity probably should die down...sometime soon, exactly when is a mystery but the power needed to sustain these portals would be too large for them to be stable."

He sighed, "probably should just keep quiet about this for a while, 'mad scientist nearly destroys world' would not make a good headline for business...not to mention give a very legitimate reason for heroes to come over into the isles and shut me down."

Reaching for the cup of coffee that had sat on the control panel he took a sip and let out a sigh, "Hmm lets see about contacting the scientifically deficient fool that thought it such a good idea to try the same experiment at the same time, perhaps we can work to getting this rips closed faster...though I will probably be pulling dead weight, another pair of hands and a second head is always useful..."

He pulled away from the console and looked up at the Cybernetically enhanced Shivan who had hurried into the room, if Steve had been worried, it was hard to tell, he was a Shivan after all, "fetch me my whiteboard, I have some calculations to do...and a sternly worded message to write."

((Deviousme will be along shortly to provide the Virtueverse side of the story to this endevor))
  17. Oh don't be such a drama queen

Atleast you can still use it as your ingame explanation for Warburg nukes and you get a new AoE which hits 40 targets (mmmm huge AoE lightning...) at the Very Rare stage.
  18. Also Techbot sadly none of the Judgement power slots look like Orbital rail cannon strike.

Though I can quite easily imagine Alpha upgrading into having Star Wars Emperor style Finger lightning ala the Ion slot...or an inbuilt flamethrower ala the Pyronic slot.

Though that would make for an interesting variation for the level 50 version.

Reverse the Scenario by coming across a team of eight elite bosses having cleared the room and discussing who gets the power, complaining about Dr Aeon's long speeches etc. before you jump them and beat them down to claim the power instead, have them mutter about how the 'world is doomed' thanks to you.

    Revenge motherlovers, revenge!
  20. The other reason to use the naturally unlocked co-op vendors (and the Oroborous one purely for a selling standpoint) compared to the locked heroside ones is that the RWZ, Cimmerorea and Oroborus all pay the full whack for any kind of enhancement, removing the need to run around to all the various different vendors to get the best price when selling your Enhancements.

Damn I do NOT miss that old chesnut.
  21. I know I'm shooting myself in the foot here because despite REALLY hating the lore pets.

I do have a way of explaining them without resorting to the well.

    Holographic projections.

There, I said it, my main (but not my namesake) invuln/SS tanker (who is a genetically created 'daughter' of my namesake) isn't going to 'tap into the well and pull out a memory'.

She is going to be gifted a holographic projection belt from her Mad Scientist father.

Now oddly she believes herself to be an Incarnate but not in the new way of things.

She believes in the old style of Incarnating, in that she has inhereted her power through the Greek Pantheon.

So she'll have the wisdom of Solomon (Interface slot, knowing when and where to strike the enemy to deliver the best blow), the strength of Hercules (the Alpha slot, Musculture +damage), the stamina of Atlas (the destiny Barrier slot), the power of Zeus (Judgement slot, coloured Golden as a variant of Zeus's lightning that Statesman has) and...well we need the other slots yet before I can infringe on copyright laws completely.

Joking aside that is her version of the Incarnate story, her powers come from the Greek Pantheon and not the Well itself.
  22. The Circle of Thorns, yeah, it's kind of discussed at length ingame through various Story Arcs both Heroside and Villainside. Their backstory is pretty damn well known by any high level super and has exactly zip to do with the well.

Though, to be fair, they haven't linked the Circle of Thorns to the Well yet. A Well is one entity, one way of gaining super powers. This is where we vary from Statesman, Honoree et al. We were empowered by means outside the Well before we begun to tap into its power and thats my take on it.

Though to be fair most characters can point blank ignore the Well storyline. Magic users can simply learn more powerful spells, Tech users can simply have come up with new inventions, Mutant characters could have developed new Mutations, Science orgin characters could be seeing new powers manifest from that experiment gone awry. The only one that suffers is the Natural Origin and even then only a Natural Human. Even then Natural Humans can simply be augmenting themselves with a few choice bits of tech ala Batman (the dude does have powered armour).

From an RP standpoint the Well storyline can be just as ignored as the Origin of Powers or the Dr Brainstorm stuff (which...I think 90% of RPers actually do).

Unfortunately the Devs seem to really want to go out of their way to shove it down our throats and making it as hard as possible to simply shove aside.

Yeah and that would be what I don't like.

This rather huge retcon going on that the Well is the be all and end all. That, for example, Giovanna Scaldi was "chosen by the well".

No she wasn't...she clearly freaking wasn't, she was just one of the rare people that had powers waaaay back when but now the Well has been introduced, everything is linked to that.

Its the linking of everything to the Well, the Circle of Thorns got their power by bargaining with the demons of the netherworld, not because of the Well decided that those Demons should give the Circle of Thorns power.

It is getting to a level where even though I'm unlike Venture or Eva in regards hating the newer stories...the Incarnate storyline is really starting to annoy me with its bigass Retcon that the Devs are doing.
  24. I posted this elsewhere so I'll repeat it here.

Statesman is the Superman of the world, yes but he wasn't really the be all and end all, not everything focused around him and during Troy's run on the comics he was actually very well written (every other handling of him seemed like the REALLY hated Superman and took out frustrations on our resident Superman expy).

Statesman is never really in the limelight that often and when he's presented ingame he's actually a lot more of a pushover than even some of his colleges on the Freedom Phalanx (he's Invuln/SS, yes he has a crashless unstoppable but so does Back Alley Brawler...Statesman just has that big AoE as well).

He cropped up where it made sense for someone like Superman to make a stand, against very powerful villains who brutally beat his Granddaughter (you'd be pissed too). Yes ye olde Statesman did smash a Rikti Mothership but that's not ingame and he isn't as stupidly overpowered ingame as he is in backstory, if anything with the introduction of IOs the players have far surpassed him before even taking the first step onto the Incarnate ladder

However with the introduction of Cimmerorea all that begun to change.

First we are introduced to his ancient times version, then to his Nazi version to the now uber-Incarnate level Praetorian version. He crops up everywhere and he's always the best of the best, miles better than any player.

Over the last couple of years everything has begun to revolve around Marcus Cole and the Praetorian Invasion angle is just the pinnacle of that. All the buildup has been to show how awesome Marcus Cole is.
  25. Oh by the way peeps.

    Incarnate powers can be coloured.

    Awesome.

Oh and the Fire one looks AMAZING.

Take of that what you will.
