  1. I am intrigued by the mention of the commander having a unique build, what would you propose I go for?

As much as I appreciate the call to utter authenticity we do need to be realistic and recognise that in this game a bunch of blasters without buffage are going to get slaughtered to the point of irritation at times.

I very much like the distinction that was mentioned earlier:

    Librarian DEBUFF ENEMY
Chaplain BUFF SQUAD (we don;t have teams in this sg )

I like the tech pads we have but I fully appreciate the arguements for and against them, I think they do provide the easiet differentiation between the roles. The terminators are already marked out by there big hefty medieval ones, however I am about to go on and play with the designer AGAIN to see if I can come up with a unique commanders build, having played DoW nearly to completion in the last 2 days (one forgets how easy RTS reallt is) it is evident that commanders are close combat buffers, to me that says a tank or scrapper with leadership, seeing as how leadership does little for blasters and scrappers in the way of buffing it seems that a tank migth have to be the way forward but with a marine build, also commanders don;t wear helmets so shall I look at that I wonder.... off to build planner and designer, see you all in a bit.

Keep goign with this evolution thing, it rocks that you guys are so into it.
  2. Well the imperial rifles had there first outing in PvP on dawn of war, I came third out of four (my team mate was kicked halfway through the fight ) but I thought you might like to see some of the boys in action and the colour schemes that an offical product endorses

This is not to advertise the game, its to help us in our research (but they have no chaplain )

    Librarian

    Apo

    Scouts

    Sgt and Squad

I WANNA DO THIS IN THE HOLLOWS (note the commander in there)

    Scouts claim the land
  3. Well, we have had to adapt to different dimesional physics.

Tonight there is a chance for one of you to win the right to the be ONLY stor,/elec defender this SG will EVER permit...

There will be a Champion award granted to ONE member at a later date, who will fulfil the Invul/Mace category of a chaplain, and this will be the SECOND unique build available, the others will remain empath chaplains (due to the distortion of the dimensional crossing) The Champion will be given a rank of Commander STRAIGHT AWAY from level 1 when it is decided who will have this roll.

I have been playing the EXCELLENT dawn of war this afternoon so am all Space Marined up, if anyone else wants to get it (15-20 quid) then I propose a little league for us on the net if people are interested... I have coloured and made my Imperial Rifles group on there but you can play eldar/chaos/marines/orks on it....

And lots of colour things, libs are blue and gold in it, commanders have a LOT of gold on them (not sure myself) and APOCRATHYS ARE WHITE IN IT BUT THEY HAVE HELMETS(Harps smile) (White with black helmet?) Scouts have HEAVY armour on the to, tucked in trousers and chunky combat boots, their role should be filled very much in AR/Dev with emphasis on burst, slug, snipe and full auto, they should also have tactics to represent their improved perception.

As to the single tone helmet, what do you guys think, try it out this evening and say what you prefer.

I too like the more bulky shoulder pads so lets have a play around with that, they are more space marinet than the tech one.
Right I'm loggin on now... cya in the base!

  4. Shall be afk til this evening due to just getting dawn of war and guild wars
  5. Its just a conversation at the moment, nothing has been decided, to have a coalition would make the group a rival for the 1AT coalition which it is not meant to be in the slightest...

Whilst this was my idea what I really want is for people in it and interested in it to have a massive say in how it evolves and where it goes.

As I said a few posts ago the reason I made Chaplains healers was because of the need that blasters have for healing. The SG is predominatly AR/En members at the moment, quite significantly so.

The only thing I can think of to differentiate between a Terminator and a tanking chaplain, if that is the way we go, is that the tanking chaplain be a unique build invul/mace awarded to those who have served the SG well in one way or another, so something someone could be proud of being.

Speaking of uniques remember that tonight at 8pm in the base we have a competetion for the first unique build of Storm/electric to be a unique librarian within the SG. Criteria is on face and name... if you wanna take part just be there but I ask as many members as possible to get to the base for it...

Afterward I plan to use Bal to run the cavern of trancendance so we will be assembling a team at the base to start that mission at about 8.30

Right now I'm off to do some experimenting making a chaplain in the mace line to see how he would work... will post a build and concept piccie here as and when...
  6. Thanks Chap, if you find time you're more than welcome to join us. I know what you mean about healers but Blasters are just too plain squishy in this game to be as hardy as marines should be without some backing. There are only a couple anyway... but I LIKE your suggestion for chaplains being Invul Mace/Axe users they'd need some for of buffage (leadership probably and presense pool) to make them the awe inspiring figures they are in 40k.... what do people think? Shall we change the Chaplains build to a normal marine tank with an axe or a mace, then move those who are empathing over to the Librarian class?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
    Morning Brothers.
've noticed that you've been arguing about the colours use by the warhammer commando's. To put you all straight, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT COLOUR THEY ARE! WE'RE ORIGINAL!
If it turns out that we're a straight copy of an existing Group I'll have to leave.
    The Emperor demands originality.
    FOR THE EMPEROR!
    Peace out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

not a copy, just trying to stay with the concept, and not arguing, just getting excited...
  8. M30 at level 8
    First travel at level 10
    Snipe at level 12
  9. [ QUOTE ]
The red for the assault marine (melee) shoulder pads is the 5th one from the left, 2nd row from top. Same for the eyes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And it looks BRUTAL! Had fun today with the SG AGAIN.... shocking that, nearly level 15 now, good to see so many joining and having fun and I love some of the comments we pick up as we go around the place.
  10. Our numbers swell, seven of the brothers have returned to the group today alone, and it is fitting that the headquarters we are setting up in this dimension improve to house them. The Great Hall now bears pillars topped with the Emperors hand which supports us all, and at last we have the High Seats in place, including the seat of the Emperor, which only he should ever sit on should he descent from the Golden Throne.

I found time today to seek meditation in the newly constructed Chapel where I was filled with peace as I meditated on the Glory of the Emperor and felt secure that even in these far reaches of space his eye is upon us and his blessing with us.

What is more the men now have a place to rest their weary bodies after the ardours of a day in combat. The dorm may be spartan but the bunks are comfortable and the fire is warm.

It seems that our new weaponary gives rise to new tactics and mistakes, a fire arm that can both aid and hinder the individual depending on its usage. The ability to unleash great damage also comes with the ability to recieve it, so I urge all squads to work together carefully until we have achieved mastery over these weapons. Communication in battle is as important now as it ever has been, choosing ones target and elimiating it with precision seems to be harder with these Assault Rifles than with our previous weaponary, but I have absolute faith in the men that they shall adapt and display the skill that I know them to have.

    For the Emperor

    Bal Matram
    Commander, Imperial Rifles
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Colours are darkest purple, with white shoulder pads?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Colours are automatic in SG mode
  12. ok then Apo = 3 heals

    Chaplain = 3 heals + 3 tactics or Empath

Apos therefore have a white helmet as soon as they pick their 3rd healing power

Chaplains Are Charcoal with Black trim

Libs are silver with Charcoal trim (except for sholder pads which are charcoal with white trim)

    final ruling done!

I'm editing the base a bit, we now have a power room (which is currently the bunkhouse) and a control room (Currently a shrine to the emperor)

We're going to get the rooms in place ASAP to ahve the following:

    Entrance Hall
    Great Hall
    Power Room
    Control Room
Workshop (once telportes are build this will become a TP room)
    Med Bay

then we will be looking to upgrade the plot!
  13. To be an Apododah there are 6 essential powers, these indicate the sacrifice that the apo makes in order to benefit his team:

Heal Other, Ressurrect (and one other from the power pool)
    Assault, Tactics, Vengence

As to what attacks you should fo for my recommendation would that you NOT go for AoEs (bar full auto) simply because they are aggro magnets and how can you fire of vengence if you are dead?

Still leaves you with a good arsenal of weapons. Burst, Slug, Snipe, full auto, maybe get a couple of others later on if you need.

As for general build guidline with AR primary and energy secondary (from someone who has been there see sig for details)

Blasters work best with 3 damage 2 Accuracies 1 Recharge in attacks

    Exceptions in this set

SNIPE: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy, 1 Interrupt time reduction, 1 Recharge reduction

Full Auto: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy, 2 rec red

Flame Thrower: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy, 1 End Red, 1 Rec red

Bean Bag: 3 Disorientate durations, 2 accs, 1 rec red

Cryo Ray: 3 HOLD durations (The damage is not the point of this) 2 accuracy, 1 recharge

OTHER IDEAS: for those wishing to be an Apo it may be worth considering dropping a Defence Debuff or 2 into burst, sacrifice your damage for the sake of a team mates, a KB distance or 2 into slug/buckshot so that you can protect a marine, give him some space and clear a path to heal him.

Slotting swift and heal may not be neccessary if those slots can be used elsewhere (eg: end reds in in the tactics pool powers or interrpt reducers in the heal other for mid compat healing to happen faster)

This should make you more controllery orientated and less attacking which fits with the role you want to play in the team

Like Eltrons white helmet idea for Apos, not sure how harps will feel, that man really wants his white armour
  14. [ QUOTE ]
But....but....but....but.... if you look at the model, an apothecary is a marine with some funky medical gadgets.
But he has a pistol, so his damage is lower than a normal marine.

My character has sacrificed several powers, plus build-up and slots, to take the medical pool.
He does less damage than a Brother, but has a funky medical gadget.

Plus, if I was wearing white it would mean you could run towards me rather than away when you're in need of a heal or two

    [/ QUOTE ]

keep trying, but I want you to be able to rez me before you get to don white... unless you got rez at level 8 justv take it as an insentive to play more in the SG the reward will be so sweet then... bear in mind that chaplains are sacrificing a LOAD of attacks to heal our butts thats why they get special armour, when you can rez you can take off your helmet and and wear silver and blask, I promise
  15. and a helpful one, thanks!

    So here is the proposal:

    Commanders: Charcoal and Gold
    Librarians: (not sure yet TBC)
    Chaplains: Charcoal and BLACK
Apowhatevers (Marines with Healing pool and leadeship) Silver with Charcoal
    Assault Marines: Charcoal and RED
Rifle Marines: Charcoal and SILVER (as is)
Terminators: Charcoal and SILVER (as is)
Scouts: Charcoal and SILVER (as is)

the uniform variations will define the difference between a lot of the builds.

Keep the eagles head SILVER though and get your eyes RED soon we will be able to ferry people to icon safely to do this.
  16. Imperial guard = Merc MMs in CoV

As of harps' suggestion here is me as a commanger with with my gold on...
  17. GO TERRA

for delectation and research here is a link

    Scouts (Melee)
    Risther
    Arman

several of these are duplicates to one player but the list is still pretty impressive for a 3 day old SG.
  19. Kin Psi defender would fit into the Librarian category probably... and listen to unthing about tanking, he has way more experience at it than me, although I have followed that build so far and its working fine and dandy.

    Scout builds:

Katana-SR/Regen/Invul are now scout builds (Broadsword remains the "powersword" option of marines)
AR/Dev for those who want a ranged scout.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I generally like the Scout, but seems more Imperial Guard then Marine...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Scouts are light weight marines basically, before they get the full armour and stuff
  21. yeah, the planner is gimped like that, swap bonesmasher and taunt around. This build shouls work pretty well, the passives in the invul set are feeble so better (and cheaper on slots) to go with the fighting pool to up the defence.
  22. Imperial Rifle Scout proposed look...

And my proposed build for Wes Tham

  23. hmm... not sure about a level 50 earning prestige tbh would rather we get it the normal way, plus the prestige earned at higher levels isn't as massive a difference the influence earned. As for a champion I would rather this blossom from the rosta of those who are working there way up...

apthecarys do exist, they will be classed as chaplains but the condition is that the toon have the healing pool WITH resurrect. However there may be an armour variation implicit in this...

No idea on a standard bearer as of yet, the lack of being able to have a standard being a bit of a problem. But as and when an appropriate build can be chosen then it might be another unique build in the SG like the Storm/electrical defender, but uniques are not being rushed.

I am also looking at tech marines as an option, but they are a bit later than my 40k days so am unsure about what powersets a tech marine might have.

When people can, it was pointed out that we need to get our eyes red to further define the look, so get to an icon whenever it suits and get your tek shield eye piece upgraded to red... the fifth red in will be the standard colour.

    So we have:

    Battle Brothers:
    Scout (AR/Dev)
    Assault Brother (permitted scrapper builds)
    Battle Brother (AR/En)

    Chaplains

    Librarians

    Terminators

    UNIQUE BUILDS
    Storm/Electric Defender

    Builds tbc
    Tech Marine
    Standard bearer (Unique)

More clarifaction on role and rank will be available when we begin to get people in the 20s with capes to define the differences in the battle brothers etc...
