  1. Situation Reports: Day Two (Saturday), Day Three (Sunday)

    Combat Zone: Baumton

Fighting in this zone intensified in the later part of the Saturday as the Laboratory came under direct assault from Requiem-Council forces in an attempt to sever the co-ordinating GoDNet. A hero team comprised of Lyn-Legend, Inago, Shadowe, Hikari-Hime, Molok, Sara Aegis and Grav Mistress fought off the invasion and restored the mainframe system at heavy cost in injuries.

    Combat Zone: Faultline

Repeated assaults on the dam have at present been beaten back by conventional forces, though there is no organised hero presence in this area at this time.

    Combat Zone: Dark Astoria

The ongoing conflict between the Free Clocks and Requiem's Mech Men continues, with the spiritual forces of the Banished Pantheon revelling in the destruction. Requiem's troops appear to be attempting to secure an area for the construction of immense machines of war.

    Combat Zone: Hollows

The Hollows is a warzone, one of the key fronts in the ongoing war due to its proximity to Atlas Park. The Council beachead is now firmly entrenched in Eastgate heights, with house to house fighting occurring in Cherry Hills and Four Seasons.

    Combat Zone: Peregrine Island.

Requiem-Council forces hold Cutlass Isle and Tempest Quay and are using this to launch incessant attacks on the Portal Corporation facilities. It is clear that they seek to possess the large portal systems there to facilitate their invasion, and perhaps deny the city's heroes the ability for swift dimensional travel. General Hammond and his men are defending along with much of the city's peacebringers, but the Shadow Shard bases are thus undermanned and coming under heavy Rularuu assault.

    Combat Zone: Eden

Aveda Towers and the Serpentine have become chaotic since a hero team including Sara Aegis stirred up the Devouring Earth against the council facilities being set up in Aveda Towers. REquiem's forces are now resorting to chemical defoliants to hold back the insane plant tide, and as a result of this distraction heroes were able to destroy a Vampyrification Plant being set up in the Utopia Complex.

    Combat Zone: Crey's Folly

Tangle Town and Portal Industries are the site of a large Council beachead, with fierce fighting occurring in the Water Works and Crey Factories. Tactical analysis indicates that Council forces are attempting to break through to Brickstown and secure control of the Ziggurat. Further, Requiem's troops appear to have some sort of agreement with the denizens of Carnival Town and the Circus, who have been providing them with shocktroops.

    Combat Zone: Perez Park

Perez Park is aflame, smoke rising from the centre of the city high into the air. The fighting here is heavy, though Inago and Dark Clowns successfully destroyed the chem/bio rocket site that was being set up on the Evertt Lake Island. Luckily the Hydra are immune to the toxis gas which now blankets much of the lake. Still, Requiem's forces are constantly reinforcing here, as it allows them to strike hard at exits to much of the city, trying to push their way into the inhabited areas.

    Combat Zone: Terra Volta

The situation at the Reactor has quietened, since the city has deployed heavy forces here to ensure that the warwalls, the thing keeping the city together, stay operational. Accordingly the fight here has become one of shadow, of knives and sileenced bullets in the dark, as Requiem's shadowtroops try to infiltrate the facility.

    Combat Zone: Croatoa

The city of Salamanca has been captured by Requiem's forces, who are currently using the residents as human shields while they set up command and control systems in the town itself. Certain of the Cabal have been suborned by Requiem and they are leading mind-controlled squads of Tuatha and Redcaps against the remaining defenders. The PTA line has been cut by an air attack, and the council appear to be moving heavy grading equipment in to construct some sort of airbase.
  2. Prior to The Beginning

Doc T materialises in the middle of Galaxy Plaza looking like he's had seven bells knocked out of him. Efforts to prevent his mechsuits powercore from breaching fail but do prevent any collateral damage from affecting the local area, and he appear to be vaporised. Those that have known him for a while will remember that this isn't necessarily an ongoing problem for Doc, but further investigation reveals that the severe damage was done by a chronoweapon of nictus-magitech design which may prevent his usual reconstitution: most people leap to the logical conclusion: Requiem. Shortly after, as people blink a bit in shock and then firm their resolve to continue the fight, Requiem gives them the chance to display that resolve all too soon:

<In the skies above paragon, contrails of launching missiles slash into the sky, the launch sites appear to be Perez Park and the Hollows.>
<Portals are disgorging Requiem troops in every hazard zone of Paragon, and all across the world. Missiles are being fired at key sites from Hollows and Perez.>
<World militaries are responding, but erratically, due to infiltration and psyops by Requiem>
<In Peregrine Island, a flood of peacebringers are attempting to protect Portal Corp, seemingly a primary target>
<In TerraVolta, RC and the PCPD forces are struggling to stop Skyraiders and council striketeams from shutting down the TV reactor, clearly they are trying to destroy the war wall systems>
<Missile fire is pouring onto key hero bases and city sites from mobile launchers set up in the Hollows and Perez, Molok and his crew bashing their way to the sites>
<Requiem is spending his forces like water, using up his nictus talismans to give them extra oomph. Clearly this is his slamming-fist to stop the Heroes interfering with his plans>
<Dark Astoria is now the site of a massive battle between Zenith Mech Men and the Free Clocks>
<Perez Park is the site of the construction of what appears to be a large launch pad for biochem weapons, Inago is entereing this Zone and encountering heavy resistance>
<Across the city, people are starting to wake up to the threat, although at present it hasn't spilled into the inhabited streets>
<In TV, RC sees several teams leaving with what looks like an unpleasantly nuclear warhead from the looted TV armory>
<In PI, Requiem appears to have committed the substantial part of his Turned Kheldians, the screams of energy beasts fighting each other rocking across the zone>
<In the Hollows and Perez, resistance to the heroes is stepping up as time passes, as more and more troops flood through from hundreds of Requiem-dominated worlds>
<Screaming contrails start to tear across the sky as Requiem Faction fighter aircraft pour through a portal set up at Paragon Airport and launch, darting through the sky to duel the loyalist air arm.>
<Across the city, Knives of Artemis and Malta forces begin a counterassault against these Requiem interlopers, but half the Crey security forces sent to assist turn on their comrades and begin cutting them down>
<Red Commissar and his team see the warhead from the Armoury being airlifted out over the city towards Perez Park. Meanwhile, they continue to struggle to defend the reactor. Not one step backward!>
<Minutes tick past, then hours. Requiem's forces are strong, and being constantly reinforced. Paragon City appears to be the brunt of the attack, however, the other assaults merely there to prevent a unified response from global military and hero forces>
<Inago leads a force of Dark Clowns into Perez and succeeds in breaking through to one of the launch platforms, where they gleefuly smash things>
<In PI, the battle is bloody and hard-fought, the kheldians of earth striving to save their new home, the Turned Kheldians seeking to serve their new Dark Master.>
<In Dark Astoria, piles and drifts of smashed metal and pulped zombie bits pile up as each side struggles against each other and the Banished Pantheon strikes everyone>
<Reports come in across the city as the city forces, hero and conventional, begin to respond to the threat. The fighting is fierce, but so long as the TV reactor stays online, it will not spill into the inhabited city zones itself as the warwalls prevent much of it other than the occasional collateral damage. Naturally warwall entrances become vital chokepoints. RC calls on AP’s home defense troops to rally to the defense of the reactor, while General Hammond starts to bring through troops from the Shadow Shard to defend Portal Court>

    OOC

Righto. The plan is that this battle (unless someone does something really stupid/innovative/both) will continue over the next 72 hours or so. Some might call this a bit railroady, but I have to try to make sure that mission times are available for everyone, and so that plenty of people can participate in the developing story. Naturally, the fighting will get bogged down, and heroes will thus get to be rotated out into the safe areas of the city (eg to let people get ‘rest’ at GG or PocketD ) before going back in to the Hot Zones.

Stuff like people posting fiction stories into the thread or in the GG thread about what they've been up to would be really cool. Be innovative while staying within the descriptions of what’s occurring above. I will be updating it with progress probably Saturday Night and Sunday Midday.
  3. Note: There *isn't* going to be an IC mission tonight, the FA and others having already obliterated the base in question during the diversions of Wednesday.

There *is* going to be the placement of the 3rd and final beacon on Sunday at 7pm gathering at the statue. This will be a PI mission, SKs can be arranged.
  4. The Shadowmaker Raid.

Enough's been posted about this really over in the GG thread, so just a summary required to say that the central hub of the Shadowmaker Network was successfully destroyed, crippling Requiem's ability to hide his portal generators with such ease. The resistance of the defense was naturally extremely heavy, and the fact the heroes won through in the end speaks well of them.

Despite the often heavy casualties, I'm not sorry I ran this one experimentally with any highbies along exemped and the mission difficulty boosted. It actually made it a challenge, and made it feel that Requiem's forces at a vital base wouldn't just be pushovers.

It also made people slow down and stick together, not rushing. I noticed that as soon as the exemps went down, people dashed about, split the group, and didn't RP much. So, sorry about any debt people got, and I'm happy to help people work it off, but I thought it went rather well.
  5. Having paid a quick visit to Marcus-T-NPC, I find that Jester still reigns undisputed:

Doc has spent 1030 hours logged in as of this morning.
  6. Plots Update

Slow activity on the investigation front, but lots of action planned.

    Current News

    Davy Jones' Locker

A strike team of dedicated heroes struck a resounding blow against Requiem by sinking a container ship containing thousands of bioengineered killing machines destined for the Striga battlefields.

Missile and other long-range attacks having been foiled by Lord Recluse's forces' ABM and other systems, it was decided that a close assault would be required near the destination point in the heavily embattled Siren's Call sector. Two derelict oil platforms would be siezed and used to launch a disabling attack on the freighter.

Despite heavy pressure from Arachnos groups, and despite near-constant attacks from mercenary villains clearly under the pay of Requiem, the platorms were captured, and a torpedo attack launched to disable the arriving superfreighter, which was then boarded and destroyed.

OOC and IC thanks to the following heroes who attended and fought hard:

Red Commissar, Hana Li, Star Crusader, Meadow, Coile, Subaiku, Luminous Phoenix, Akkarin, Nucliscious, Telepath, and Kitmarch.

    The Clone Commotion

The body of the registered superhero Ironclad was recovered from Striga isle this week. A two-minute silence was declared across Steel Canyon in his memory. FSBA press reports indicate that he gave his life against heavy nictus-fuelled attacks during a rescue operation in which a hero new to Paragon, High Steel, was recovered from captivity.

  8. Missions

Well, I hear that the double-XP has been extended to today as well.

From some points of view, this is a bonus, when it comes to trying to organise missions, on the other hand, somewhat of a disaster.

Accordingly, subject to confirmation in this thread from the generous guy who's got the relevant missions (@Gideon as Penumbral Song) that he's still got them and they weren't used over the weekend, if not we'll find other missions for the same times:

We will be going Ship-Sinking tonight (Monday 24th) at 8pm. Level Range: Any, PvP Zone autoadjust in effect.

We will be going Shadowmaker-Device Hunting on Wednesday 26th at 8pm. Level Range: Any but will be Exemped down to Striga range for challenge purposes.

We will be demolishing the last Nictus Lab on Friday 28th at 8pm. Level Range: Any but will be Exemped down to Striga range for challenge purposes.

We will be placing the final beacon on Sunday 30th at 8pm. Level Range: Any, but will have to juggle SKs due to PI content.

And we will be finishing off Requiem (*) within the week after that.

    Plot

If people want to investigate any of the plot issue they've been given, please PM me details so I can get back to you. I'll only do a global update once something's changed to make it necessary.

(*) Or whichever supervillain it ends up being due to a fugue state of tiredness on my part. Maybe Vanessa DeVore, maybe DrVazilock, could be anyone! Wacky fun for all the family.
  9. Thanks for the plaudits, folks.

As has been said... about time

I'll go see an M-named NPC shortly
  10. All this double-XP business has totally thrown RP.

Nor have people posted when they're free to do this sort of thing, and I hear TFs are planned for Sunday.

Accordingly on Sunday PM over GGOOC I will be organising times for these missions, hopefully people will be on to chat about them.
  11. Last Night, Doc arrived at the statue late and tired to say hullo to a few people who remained at the ungodly hour of past-midnight.

In other news, Superman Returns is better than I expected it would be.

Pyranha and Inago visited the Lab again for the second of Pyranha's treaments, and I believe once again joyrode Doc's teleporters to visit some far off land.

In Other Other News, the Hunt for Requiem thread has been updated with plans for IC missions over the weekend. Please look over and post if you're interested, it would be nice to get a fair few missions going this weekend.
  12. Missions, Fun, and Plot Development

Well, the 2nd beacon has gone in, and we have the following prospects for IC missions. This weekend might seem to be an excellent time to hold one or more of them, due to the potential for nice tasty double-xp.

Below I've asked several questions and requested volunteers. If you want to volunteer for a chore or you want to declare participation for more than one of the adventures below, do it all in one post, saves postspace. Also note down the times you are available to do them over the weekend.

    Stopping the Shadowmaker

This will need a Council mission, preferably a base. It will therefore be midlevel on Striga, most likely. I can't get Striga missions, therefore someone who *can* must be willing to obtain the mission and participate. If you are prepared to do this, let me know in this thread. If you just want to participate, likewise.

    Sinking the Ship

I'm thinking of using this mission to take a team or two of GGers into the PVP Zones and seeign what chaos we can cause. You'll be able to explore them if you haven't before, with enough of a hit squad to back you up that no-one should want to gank us The mission itself will probably be mostly RP using the scenery, with potential for beating off villainous assaults by 'requiem henchmen' etc (always knew PvPers would be good for someting ). Again, if you're interested in participating, post interest here.

    Nuking the Nictusfactory

Same as Stopping the Shadowmaker. We'll need a mission that I can't obtain, if you can, then post in here. If you want to go, likewise post here.

    Crunching the Clockwork

This will be an instanced PI mission to take out the psychic clock king. If you can get this mission (sadly I've already done it), then let me know in this thread. Likewise if you want to go.
  13. For those who were not able to attend the meeting on Friday 17th, I attach a summary of plotlines discussed here:

    Metaplot Shard: The Madagascar Redoubt

    Update: Bootleg Turn

Crucifix Blade's interception of a convoy roughtly two weeks ago has revealed - corroborated with evidence from several other sources - that Requiem is shipping vast quantities of materiel out of the United States. The information appears to point to the construction of a back-up facility somewhere in southern Africa, perhaps on the isle of Madagascar - it is clear that Striga Isle is now nearly a decoy.

OOC - Future Action: Potential for further investigation by Crucifix Blade and others. Other missions may now be located here.

    Update: The Clone-Commotion

Red Commissar and allies have been investigating the strange technomagical dogtags that he recovered from Council Earth, believing them to be a product of Requiem's experimentation with nictus-infusion. Discussions with magical-oriented heroes reveals that the artifacts act as reservoirs for nictus energy, allowing for the bearers to temporarily utilise dark energy powers. CIRCE assesses the strategic threat posed by mass production of these items to be significant, and the destruction of the production site should be a priority.

OOC - Future Action: Potential for Player-Run Mission to destroy site of production. Striga?

    Update: Davy Jones' Locker

Information is passed to the Alliance by an undercover hero, Endarkened Angel, currently working in the Rogue Isles. It seems that Requiem has been using the Rogue Isles to test a new variant of Vampyr. Due to his feud with Nosferatu, he had previously been denied these shock troops, and it seems that his version is more manaical killer than calculating stalker. It seems that these bioengineered weapons are to be transported by ship to an unknown destination.

OOC - Future Action: Potential for further investigation by Endarkened Angel. Potential for Player-Run Mission to sink vessel carrying frozen Requiem-Vampyres (possible crossover to CoV?)

Update: Shadow Owes Its Birth To Light

Shadowe and his allies have been attempting to track down the locations of the sinister Shadowmaker Devices. Using geographic analysis of kidnappings, he has located several sites which probably hold these evil portal-concealing systems - and so also hold suffering captives to power their diabolic workings. What does Requiem hope to gain from this expansion of portal operations?

OOC - Future Action: Potential for GM-Provided Missions to rescue captives (relevant missions would be required. Striga? Potential for further investigation to discover Requiem's plot behind the devices.

    Metaplot Shard: Requiem's Retaliation

    Update: Don't Panic, Mr Mannering

Artic Princess and allies have been trying to perpare a home-defense force to defend Paragon from any counterattack Requiem attempts. Of course, her unique outlook on home defence is causing a few raised eyebrows in the 'not sure about *another* robot army' political scene. Her work on developing technological counteractions to Requiem's potential powers also continues, as does her efforts to upgrade her powersuit.

OOC - Future Action: Potential for GM-provided missions and/or off-screen activity to beat off attacks against Paragon. Also see 'Bad Vibrations'.

    Update: The A-Teen Adventure

Pyranha and allies attempted to capture a Requiem-faction officer whom Pyranha had been stalking, sorry, tailing. Despite their best efforts and Pyranha nearly burning out her abilities, the officer escaped, though the team managed to recover his laptop. CIRCE has decrypted the files and returned them to Pyranha and her cohorts, who discover upon reading them that Requiem is about to launch a dastardly scheme to distract Paragon's heroes from interfering with his plans: a terrorist campaign of street level bombings, localised bioweapon attacks, and mob violence designed to push the city into a panic and force Paragon's heroes to make the choice between stopping him or letting the city tear itself to pieces in panic.

OOC - Future Action: Potential for investigations (particularly good for low-mid-level heroes in inner city districts eg KR) and player-led missions to foil the schemes.

    Update: A Fish Called Sally

Cuchullain and allies assaulted and destroyed a council base poised to launch a deadly strike on the city's water supplies. The odd part was, the base was hidden through a magical portal in Croatoa. Is Requiem colonising the lands of Faerie? What evil influence might be bring to bear on the lands of myth?

OOC - Future Action: Potential for investigation into how Requiem has been influenceing the Otherlands.

    Update: Bad Vibrations

Lyn-Legend and her clockwork army have been surveying worlds for Requiem's presence, dedicatedly seeking out new information. It seems that Requiem's patience for her activities has grown short, and the fortification of her off world base is none too soon, as Requiem exerts his sinister influence to turn a portion of her clockwork against her with threat from her past brought back to life...

OOC - Future Action: Currently intended to run a plot event. Need PI Psychic Clock King mission - if you can get it, PM me. Jed, you up for this?

Metaplot Shard: Towards The Final Battle

    Update: Doing the Turncoat Twostep

Red Hammer and allies sought to turn Requiem's deception against him, and succeeded in disrupting a meeting between Vandal's faction and the Freakshow, also subduing the forces of Requiem's faction who stopped by for things other than tea and cake. Interrogation of the prisoners indicates that Requiem's goal was to break up an alliance between Vandal and the Freakshow, allowing him to step in to supply the Freaks with stolen technology in exchange for information. It seems that Requiem needs to know how to negotiate with the Freaks for some reason.

OOC - Future Action: potential for investigation into Requiem's motives in cozying up to the Freakshow.

    Update: Behold, A Pale Horse

The struggle to stop the Riptear Device continues across the multiverse, with combat happening on a thousand worlds, council goons against heroes and robot drones, as the placement of the Second Beacon is complete. Only one remains until Requiem's location can be pinned down across the multiverse in readiness for the final assault. The heroes of Paragon must fight off all his other schemes until this can occur, since Requiem has myriad ways of achieveing victory, some subtle, some blatant. One scheme is never enough.

OOC - Future Action: Third Beacon Mission to be Arranged

    Update: Privately Eyeing

Max has been taking advantage of the Requiem chaos to make use of portals and gather data. Who knows what he's trying to attempt?

OOC - Future Action: _Max_ developing this plotline.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Various heroes took responsibility for investigation of current mysteries. I'll look up on the logs just who agreed to do what and post it here later.
  14. Event Aftermath: Beacon Mission Two: Flipping off the Freakshow

    IC

Doctor Temporis rematerialises in a transport chamber of the Laboratory, brushing himself down. CIRCE's hologramatic form shimmers into life next to him as he walks down the corridor.

"The scanner is still operational, Doctor. Only one more must be emplaced. I am currently making the computations to determine the necessary site for the operation, but it may take some time."

"Understood. We had a few sticky moments getting it emplaced, actually. Professor Bester and Fridan were both incapacitated briefly. It seems that Requiem supplied the Freakshow with weapons." He shrugs. "It did not prevent us from succeeding, but it makes me wonder, if he wanted to stop us, why not use more effort?"

The pair, one walking, one hovering, round the corner into the Library.

    OOC

Thanks to, in no particular order, Telepath, Magma Stallion, Fridan, Inago, Sara Aegis, Hikari-Hime, and Shadowe for coming along on the mission and helping make it a success.

The Russian Flag flew proudly against the forces of Facism for a time, though many of Lyn-Legend's (bothans) clockwork gave their lives to get the information that allowed the strike team to hit the right region.[*]Player Mission: Logistics Raid Three: Out of the Council Base and into the Volcano: a strike team led by Alfred Bester destroyed a Requiem Faction Nictus Infusion Laboratory and did massive damage to Requiem's mechanised assault brigades, as well as eliminating the first prototype of Requiem's Nictus Lieutenant program.[*]Bootleg Turn: Logistics Raid One: Crucifix Blade smashes a Council Convoy on the streets of Independence Port and recovers some interesting information on the worldwide reach of Requiem, not to mention slowing the spread of Requiem's evil technology.[*]Ain't No Mountain High Enough: While on a mystic quest in the highlands of Central Asia, Sword of Truth is apparently killed by an avalanche caused by the explosion of a Requiem Faction boobytrap. Coile returns to Paragon, his loss galavanizing his will to defeat Requiem.[*]Doing the Turncoat Twostep: Red Hammer, Crucifix Blade, and Arctic Princess broke up a collaboration meeting between the Freakshow and a Council Representative, following up on Red Hammer's lead to try to draw out Requiem.[*]Once More Unto the Breach, Dear Friends: Hikari-Hime and other GoDites have rescued soul-saplit scientists from various dimensions.[*]Player Mission: If You Have A Problem, Call the A-Teen: Despite failing to capture the Requiem officer, Pyranha and her compatriots learned from a laptop that Requiem's plans were speeding up in preparation for a worldwide coup attempt.[*]Shadow Owes Its Birth To Light: Shadowe plots kidnappings in an attempt to determine the locations of the sinister Shadowmaker Devices, and finds several sites badly in need of rescue operations.[*]Bad Vibrations: Lyn-Legend secures her base of offworld operations from possible counter attacks by Requiem - it is clear that he cannot allow her to operate with impunity for much longer, and the psychic trace of her clockwork may lead the hunters to her.[/list]

  20. OOC Notice

Requiem's evil will not be allowed to continue to fester throughout the multiverse!

    Next steps:

    1) A 'state of play' update will go out tonight on this thread to let people know roughly what is happening IC. PMs will also be sent where appropriate. Should you not wish to continue participation, simply indicate that in response to any update PMs you may recieve.

    2) DocT will be in game in CoH tonight Wed 12th July from 20:00 at the Galaxy Girl statue to discuss stuff, be his usual charming self, and plotfeed issues.

    3) There will be a meeting of the (Insert Name of the Week For This Bunch of Heroes Against Requiem) Alliance on Friday 14th July at 19:30 to clear up and close off dangling plot threads in order to start the weave of the new threads leading to eventual (we hope) victory. This will be held in the GoD Base as per last time. Further details on this will be posted here later.

Again, thank you for your forbearance during this hiatus period. With luck, things will pick up to their former glory.

  21. OOC Notice

    Dear All,

Thank you for your forbearance over the last two weeks. Casual review of the GG thread on the Union board indicates you've all been occupying yourselves nicely in the meantime, a testament to the GG spirit.

I intend to resolve the issue which has placed this plotline on hiatus one way or the other by Wed 12th July.

At that point I will notify a continuation for those still interested, or wrap up the plot threads swiftly as necessary.

    DocT
  22. OOC Notification

This plotline is on hiatus for at least several days for a variety of reasons.

Feel free to discuss, chat, run player missions, even send me PMs. I don't control your toons, after all. Free game.

However, no update PMs nor responses will be given until the end of the hiatus when/if that occurs.

Red investigation titles indicate activity since last update

  24. IC 24/06/06

The room is dim, illumination theoretically provided by recessed lights in the ceiling but in fact by the glow of the hundreds of screens lining the 'walls' of the spherical chamber. Giant crystal lenses on brass armatures rattle and clank around the central pillar like an orrery of magnification, focusing and enhancing various images. The room is quiet, deep below Boomtown, the only sounds the hum of ventilation systems and the clicking sussuration of steamtech machines.

On the pillar in the centre of the large spherical room, connected to the entrance by a thin metal bridge, stands the Doctor, his gauntlet arm resting inside a receiver in the brass and steel contol unit. His eyes flicker across the room, information pouring in through neural links as well as via eyesight as he directs the efforts of the Rebirth Alliance where he can. His face twitches with each sensory flicker, as each scene changes and provokes a burst of feeling and thought.

On one screen, the success of a raid against a Requiem Faction outpost on Striga Isle, heroes from many supergroups collaborating under Shadowe to slow down the grinding progress of Requiem's colonisation of other worlds, rescuing people from their terrible torment in the evil Shadowmaker devices. A twist of regret at the pain of the innocent.

One screen shows the murky forests of Croatoa, and a motley crew of mostly-allied Firbolg, Tuatha, and a trio of heroes - Bluestrike, Dark Rose, and Cuchullain - heading through an otherworld rift to assault a hidden Coucil outpost. A shiver of disquiet at Requiem's willingness to hide anywhere, even in magical realms.

On another, the grim shattered streets of Council Earth, the downtrodden residents further oppressed by the staccato rattle of assault weapons as a strike team of heroes and clockwork led by Lyn-Legend battles its way through the streets hunting an emissary to prevent a terrible alliance. A burst of fear at the risks his family take.

Another shows planning rooms and muster points, as Arctic Princess struggles to form a home guard against the possibility of counterattacks by Requiem. Technology and resources organised and deployed, but backed by normal humans. A wry smile of pride at humanity's will to survive.

Yet another shows a snow-covered slope of a mighty mountain, medical and search drones quartering and requartering the avalanche-struck ground in vain hope of finding anything at all, even a body to bring home and mourn. A moment of sorrow at the ongoing sacrifice, a single tear welling and then blinked away.

On and on, screen after screen, robots and drones and clockwork, heroes and allies and contacts, humans and nonhumans, mutants and magicians, working together across a hundred worlds to stop Requiem's machiavellian schemes, and yet, with each passing day, his sinister Riptear Generator edges closer to its terrible completion.

"How long can this go on?"
