Who's calling for a nerf bat except for you?You do remember them saying that powers used in PvP might work far differently than powers in PvE? All I'm saying is that in the context of PvP theres got to be a better way for holds and fear to work so there wouldnt be any need to buy massive quantitities of break frees or spend the entire game frustrated.
As a rule I dont like any aspect of a game that tells me how im supposed to feel.Let me put it to you this way, theres the artificial fear that a toon throws at you in PvP combat and then theres the REAL fear you can feel when every one of your teammates bites the dust and youre left facing 5 angry opponents.I'd prefer the latter any day of the weak.
Couple of suggestions, have fear weaken an opponents damage output and/or accuracy and have holds randomly "hold' or prevent a power in your tray from being used, I might still be able to close with you but if all i can do is throw my least damaging attacks youre not in any real danger and the battle becomes much more tactical for everyone involved........Those two suggestions might not be exactly the fix thats needed but theyre on the right track if any semblance of balance and enjoyment is going to exist in the arena for everyone involved....or we could just refuse to duel controllers like alot of people are doing now, hence the empty arenas -
Excellent post by the orginal poster, you did an outstanding job of expressing what myself and plenty of other players seem to feel about their PvP experience to date.
Devs if your reading these posts on PvP, please look closely and you'll start to see a consensus amongst most of us in regards to the affects of holds, taunts and fear. They simply arent any fun at all and are a BIG part of whats keeping many of us from going to the arenas. -
I would really love to see one page in the monthly comic or on the website devoted to character origins. Some of my fondest memories reading comics have been when the characters origins were revealed. What comic book fan doesnt know his favorites characters origin by heart?
Marvel and Dc's Who's Who is always a best seller, providing fans with background info on little known characters and a fascinating read in and of itself.
I think this is a great idea for a number of reasons.Their are 200k plus players in this game but imagine opening the comic and seeing a small pic and a brief bio of your character inside,to qoute one of the credit card companies 'Priceless"
Not to mention thats a pretty strong incentive to devote your loyalty to this game(not that we need it)
Also with the current litigation involving Marvel and Cryptic,it would put a spotlight on those players creative enough to come up with original ideas for their character.
Last and most importantly it would provide a means of rewarding players who have put a lot of time and thought into their toons making the game itself,at least in my opinion, a better place for everyone.
