    The character in question is a Son/EM Blaster, which I've been meaning to make for quite some time. Since I already have an Arch/EM on Justice for zones and random arena, I'm hanging as to where I want to spend the $10 to transfer my Son/EM to - can't decide between Freedom, Virtue, Infinity, Champion, or Pinnacle (I've got my reasons for each).

    I've also seen the first few characters with proliferated sets starting to trickle into RV on Freedom within the last day or two - a BS/something Stalker and a Rad/EM Blaster, namely, haven't seen much else I haven't already seen. In my experiences against that Blaster, I've really noticed how sub-par the Blaster of Rad seems compared to the Defenders and especially Corruptors I've seen (not sure how much of that's the set or how much of that's the player, though). If I end up transferring the Son/EM to a server other than Freedom, that leaves me with a problem - do I bother PLing a Rad/EM only to be disappointed and have wasted 30-40 hours, or do I go ahead and do a Fire/EM or Psi/EM?
    Fire was good at one time but I stopped playing my fire blaster long ago because all it takes is 1 thermal in the zone to ruin your night.. I never liked my psy blaster although he did ok..

    I gutted my fire and psy blaster and put all the good IOs in my new rad/em..
    He's fully proced and I like him way better than my psy... It really depends on playstyle up close I believe sonic is probably better.. so if your a ss/super jumper that might be better for you... I'm a hover/fly/tp toon so i hover far away and blast which rad is better at than sonic...

    In a prolonged fight more than 7 or 8 seconds a sonic will do better since its recharge is faster and the -res stacking... for short burst to kill fast around 5 seconds I believe rad is better.. If a squishie can survive that initial burst of a rad blaster then he or she will have a chance. I believe sonic and rad are the top two. one will be better in certain situations and of course the playstyle will matter as well.

    BTW a couple of friends helped me test I can 3 shot stalkers and other squishies at sirens lvl with aim/buildup no other buffs..
  2. DR is working on + dmg. After a certain threshold for an archtype your attacks cap on dmg output.
  3. Also Thorn Barrage from the description wont take defense debuff sets unlike the rest of the Thorns set. Thanks
  4. Just wanted to clarify. If I'm a blaster and have fortitude on me already and I hit powerboost(since I'm /energy) will the + defense and to hit buff increase from fortitude for the duration of PB?

    And another example if I'm getting tactics from a teammate not my own will PB affect that as well for me?
  5. First of I would like to say I do like my doms even though they are gimped.. I've been holding out being hopeful the devs would give us a LOT more buffs.. Will I lvl up another dom now that issue 7 has come out probably NOT.


    My dom is more gimp in 1 vs 1 duels now in issue 7 against melee archtypes such as brutes stalkers etc... The reason? Well cuz the devs decided to nerf toggle dropping across the board. I really depended on my 2 100% toggle drops they were SOOO much better at providing me with a dmg increase due to the fact that I could knock of my opponents shields.. In return they gave us a very small bump in our melee attacks. I definitely would not of traded my 2 100% toggle drops for that YUCK... Maybe blasters needed it to be reduced for them but NOT doms... Sigh..

    OK I am appreciative of the added buff in building up domination.. Although it really only works in a PVP zone where u can get random hits of certain non defensive opponents and run around... In a duel in the arena where the map is smaller and your opponents are more focused well it's pretty much dooom..With a lot of testing and strategy I used to have a good pvp rep breaking the perceived notion that doms could be not good in pvp especially in the arena.. I enjoyed the challenge and although it took a lot of work and planning I was successful..


    I come from a PVP SG on my server and had many debates and discussions on how to incorporate a dom on a team PVP arena match.. Sigh the conclusion is I will probably have to roll a corruptor Double Sigh.. They are also a needed for the SF too.. It's a shame.. My SG does the SF almost every night to get SHOES for their pvp builds.. They have suggested that I roll a corruptor for that purpose and for team pvp.. All of them recognize that I am one of the best PVP doms on my server but to no avail I also have come to the conclusion that the corruptor archtype is more versatile than the dom and we just don't have the tools necessary to compete in serious pvp..

    I love doms for their concept I have 4 of them and I am always devising and scheming tactics and strategies to show the rest of the archtypes we are a force to be reckoned with but at this point I've waited to long the devs aren't buffing us enough..

    So if PVP is your thing it's my opinion your better of rolling a corruptor or brute.. I know I am for the double XP for this weekend..

    Protection vs. Knockback, Knock Up, Repel, Stun, Sleep, Hold, Immobilize, Confuse and Fear. Pretty much the whole suite.

    dominators are currently fine for pve. theyre great for teams, adding some damage and a good deal of aggro control when villain teams dont have primary aggro sponges like heroes do.

    This change is an "i win -more-" as domination already made it so doms were pretty much an unstoppable force to begin with. nothing stands in the way of dominationed holds except AV's and those werent meant to be solo'ed anyways.

    In fun/casual pvp in zones or with pick up arena teams, dominators are fine they way they are with a team as most players dont keep 20 breakfrees or have a pocket emp/thermal/sonic/poison on them at all times.

    in competitive pvp, an abundance of mez protection renders even dominationed holds pretty much moot and the single target damage put out by a dominator is so sad compared to a corruptor's blasts. lets not even compare it to containment controller blasts or blaster blasts.

    I'm glad that the devs are throwing doms a bone here, but please, devs, give people a reason to play a dom in all aspects of the game (pve, casual pvp and competitive pvp)

    either give us a damage boost of some sort or holds that are impossible to get out of (ie: no amount of breakfrees after the 3rd hold). mez protection is the furthest buff id expect dominators to get.. Dr Jeckyll turns into Mr. Hyde.. not Dr. Jeckyll with the equivalent of 4 breakfrees + acrobatics.

    Hey we are on the same server.. Anyways I agree with you... Although I welcome postive buffs it's still NOT enough..

    I wanted to point out what positron stated.

    We surely can be stopped we are still sqiushy we can get 2 or 3 shotted by scrappers, controllers, brutes, stalkers etc very EASILY.. SO we surely aren't UNSTOPPABLE. Unless you want to give us High resistance dmg and or defense during domination!!! And while your at it give us more hitpoints to make that resistance meaningful..

    Now to the other part "Machine of Destruction and Control"
    With domination up we have good control not GREAT we still have to use 2 holds to break thru mez protection. If it was 1 hold then yah i could see us being a Machine.. And people still can use breakfrees.

    The destruction part is a really bad assesment.. With domination up we don't have that much more dmg.. It still takes 8 to 10 hits to kill a melee archtype... Give us triple dmg containment DMG when domination is up then I'll agree with your assesment..

    Also the nerf on toggle dropping really hurt doms dueling melee archtypes as evidence my duels against stalkers and brutes in the arena in issue 7 has really just bothered the heck out of me.. Doms should of been able to keep two 100% toggle drops..
