  1. Welcome back! You're talking to the plant!

OK, first off, a MAJOR apology to all those who were hoping for some lowbie stuff this week. The ITF I ran hit a major snag when I crashed, and Romi ended up spawning at level 52. Needless to say, we had to reset the last mish, and the normally swift ITF took almost 3 hours, plus set-up time. This left no time for lowbies material, which will be remedied next week.

Also, an apology to my ITF team. Next time, I'll ask for a debuffer and a healer out of the 8 of us, instead of, oh, say, none. Boneheaded decisions lead to a less enjoyable experience for all.

As for the ITF, I'd like to thank

    Texiera Touch
    Alterior
    Fivetide
    Great Little One
    Mis Information
    Killer Bunnygirl
    Pandaemania

for their participation in the event, and proving once again that the ITF is rich in your daily source of Vitamin Purple Recipe!

    For next week:

LOWBIES! Yup, it's been a while since I did a day without a TF. So it's time. And since I did not get time to run it this week with my designated toon - Agent C, my Arachnos Soldier at level 13, I will host with Agent C next week! Show up, do missions, serve Arachnos!!!

    VILLAINY!!!!!!!!!
  2. Welcome back! You're talking to the plant!

OK, first off, while waiting for enough interest to fire the Cap Au Diable SF, there was some high-level teaming going on, aiding to turn Lord Recluse into our personal plaything! Included with Mephitsa in this wonderful romp were

Arterior (the holder of the mission)
    Alyra
    Diana Delight
    Asymptope Man
    Bloke Man

Then, we got the Cap Au Diable SF fired. This was run with 3 corrs and 2 brutes....and was PAINFULLY long. I'd like to thank

    Portal Worker TH
    Miss Carriage
    Frost Nereid
Zekid (please correct me if my spelling is wrong)

for taking the 2 hours it took to beat down Bat'zul in the end...just OUCH.

Finally, there was some assistance for Soul Circuit as well.

    For this week:

7-8:30 ITF. Called for by at least 2 people. You want, I deliver! It will be a SLOW ITF, since I want people to get as many purple chances as they can get (I average a purple every 2 ITFs, so...)
8:30-11 Lowbie time! I'm thinking that some of the newer players would like to see some of the stuff in the lower end of things, so this time I'm bringing out Agent C, a level 13 Arachnos Soldier. Bring your teens and we'll rock the town!

As always, you are FREE to use this space to make suggestions, write your backstories, or relay any interesting information. Remember, as long as it's for the cause of villainy, it's fine by me!
  3. Welcome back! You're talking to the plant!

Well, the respec run went very well. I called out that we would be going for maximum carnage - kill all targets, even on the last mission - and we completed it in just over half an hour, complete with a purple drop! Sometimes, speed isn't everything. I'd like to thank the following participants on the treespec:

    try hard
    TinkerKat
    Diana Delight
    Kalli
    S H O U T
    Total-Knockout
    Asymptope Man

Afterwards, we ran some lowbie missions, and proceeded to rob Atlas blind! I'd like to thank the following participants for that as well:

    Hydrangea Ranger
    Noradia
    Magenta Black
    Mexican Pete

And that brings us to this Friday's schedule:

7 - 8:30 Cap Au Diable SF. This one will be hosted by Mephitsa, a dark/rad corr. Bring your toons and we'll STOMP all over Bat'Zul!
8:30 - 11 mid level. I've recently brought over a TON of toons from other servers, and they will need your help! Bittersweet Symphony, a sonic/sonic corr, will be hosting some Cap mishes. We'll rock this town to the foundations, or hosp trying!

If you have ANY requests, or would like to post some backstory/RP stuff here, feel free! Just remember, it's all in the cause of VILLAINY!!!
  4. Well, my first FNV since posting here on the boards went - a little bit differently than planned.

Kudos to the following people that came out and did some early teamwork:

    Great Little One
    Great Atom Smasher

THEN we got an ITF fired. The following people helped make it possible:

    No brain no pain
    Arterior
    Pure Razor
    Hard as ice
    Thufir Hawat
    Dual Indice
    Glasswing

2 trollers, 2 doms, 3 defenders and a brute. Romi didn't stand a chance when the first nictus to disappear was his healer.

Finally, some mishes were run by Crystalline Rose with the help of:

    Zombie Bunny Lord
    Meat Doctor

The low turnout at the original time was disappointing, so I'm going to change things a bit. Here's the schedule for May 14, 2010.

7-8 3rd treespec run. People have requested one, so I'll run one. I will not run an ITF this week - requested tfs/trials will always take priority. Hosted by Evelyn Gladstone, now level 49! You'll need level 44 or higher toons to play, so keep that in mind. IF we can't get the numbers for that, I will run a lower one to get the numbers we need.
8-11 Lowbies. At this point, most of my other toons are within striking distance of other things. So I'll start running with something lower! I'd like to run with Dark Maple Witch (Demon Summoning/Poison), currently 8 - starting with newspaper mishes for an Atlas Park Run. We'll see how things go from there. Feel free to bring anyone level 5 and up!

The 7 start time (Tokyo, +9 UTC) is to more accurately reflect what is happening, and will allow those who get home later than me to have more time to get things done beforehand. Note that I will still be on earlier than that - just that I will start events as of 7.
  5. Is it just me, or are all the global channels and global friends list down as well?

    They were up yesterday, so...

    ...what happened?
  6. Hey gang, this is @Plantatia. Yup, you're talking to the plant. I'm also (woohoo!) one of the moderators on the Australia channel.

Canadian born and raised (eh?), but living and working in Japan (currently Tokyo area). Day 1 City of Villains player, and STILL loving the game. Old enough to remember the Moscow Olympics, and the release of Expert Dungeons and Dragons.

More than half of my toons are on Justice; the rest are on Victory or Infinity, and even THOSE are starting to migrate to Justice. I have a moderate case of alt-itis (only about 40 toons total), so I could be on with anyone.

I'm also the host of Friday Night Villainy. Check this board for that thread.
  7. Hello, everybody, this is @Plantatia. Yep, you're talking to the plant.

After originally having had the gauntlet thrown down awhile back that if I wanted to get something done on Fridays, I should do it, I got off my gaming duff and DID something about it. I created the simple concept of Friday Night Villainy.

    Let's break that down.

Friday Night - this does not interfere with a lot of events in the Oceanic time zones, and DEFINITELY not with those in North America. Thus, it's easy to remember. Min Min even has this event posted on this forum , so there's no excuse to not know about it if you're already reading it here.

Villainy - Not heroism, not goody-goody two-shoes, not helping old ladies across the street, villainy. So (for now, anyway), that means a villain, on JUSTICE, will be needed.

FNV is about having fun while playing villains of different levels. You can roll new toons, shake the dust off of old ones, or just use your favorite in a different situation. I'm not particular - play what you want. Good background stories and role-playing are most definitely appreciated - I've been role-playing since before Reagan was president.

So, what events are held during FNV?

    1) Newbies run. Roll a new toon, then come and play! Usually I aim for 3-4 hours and hopefully finish all of Mercy Island in one go, possibly including the Atlas mayhem. This is quite doable, and I'll try and announce these days well in advance so you can prepare.

    2) Mid-level (10-34) mish runs. Plenty more options here, get the dust off your 'in hiatus' toons and let's rock the isles!

    3) Strike Force runs (below level 35): In the less than 6 months of FNV, I've ran 2 Cap SFs, 4 Silver Mantis SFs and 1 or 2 Sharkhead SFs. If you're looking to do these challenges, or need merits, these are the way to go. I've even ran a 1st villainous respec trial (aka 'treespec').

    4) Imperious TF: My goal is to run one of these a week if possible. Why?
    a) Speed. Speed ITFs can be done in under 40 minutes (although it is rather lethal to squishies), and this makes the ITF rather time-efficient for the merits.
    b) Variety. Hey, I'm not gonna be picky when it comes to ITF - if you have a hero that can do the job better than a villain, so be it! (Just be warned that I may RP being not happy about it!)
    c) Chances for purple recipies. Again, this is the fastest to get shots at purples. Other TFs tend to take longer, so this one does not tie you up for the night doing one event.

So, with that in mind, here's the sched for May 7, 2010. All times are TOKYO times, since that's where I'm living.

6-7:30 ITF. Those that are on, you're welcome to join. Bring whomever you like. I will be running with Evelyn Gladstone (46 dom), so 1 lvl 50 toon WOULD be appreciated for those who want shots at purple recipies.
7:30-10:00 Lowbies. Hosted by Crystalline Rose (32 dom), she'll be running stuff in St. Martial. Again, bring whomever you like.

That's all for now. I will update this page next week with the names of EVERY participant, and the plans for May 14. Until then...

    VILLAINY!!
  8. Hi, it's me, Plantatia!

After missing the last few weeks and apparently missing all the commotion, I think the actions I have seen taken are a good thing. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Clearly, based on the posts here, something was in need of fixing. And I for one applaud the results that I have seen - an intelligent answer to a difficult problem. It is not easy to manage (not control, MANAGE) the wishes of several dozen people, let alone that of up to 2500 members. To suggest otherwise means you are likely running a company.

And since when is CoX a company for us to join?

There will always be personality issues, and there will always be those who think things can be done better (for their benefit, consciously or not). To do something about it takes effort and courage, and I appreciate both. Keep up the excellent work!
  9. Hey, it's me, Plantatia!

I think this would be a good idea as well. Organized heroism works better than PuGs with the numbers we have, and SG-based heroism is simply easier to run. I've recently transferred a TON of toons to Justice, so they would be available for any such events. And, as always, I'm willing to help out in a pinch.

Keep up the awesome work, gang!
