As for the mouse issue, I never take my hand off it (with the right button usually depressed) unless I'm typing chat.
This is definitely a playstyle thing, but I find that Q and E change my character facing way too jerkily and slowly. In comparison, with the mouse I can change my front view precisely and almost instantly.

I'm the same way.. my right hand has no business leaving the mouse.. ever. And, as for Q and E, I too find that they fail to offer the control of mouse directional control. Also, the "right-depressed" mode is my norm as I often need to control my "viewport" without worrying about attack direction once I've triggered it.
With that, ever since my first warshade, I've been re-binding Q and E for swapping out power bind loads and trays. It was clunky at first.. I would change forms "unexpectedly" but with time.. It is almost natural. Also, when I need Q & E functionality.. the <- -> are already bound to same function.
