Dark Providence was founded on the Rogue Isles during the colonial period. Posing as statesmen and ambassadors our secret society aided the Children of Enos in their rebellion for Independence from France during this time, around 1766. Our motives were our own however, and without the French Army to police the isles the members of Dark Providence easily molded the Isles into a haven for the Privateers as was the original intent.
During the time of the English Privateers Dark Providence thrived. A great wealth was massed and this treasure, it is rumored, included some items that were taken from the indigenous peoples by the Children of Enos that were infused with mystical powers by their Spirit Guardians. It is even rumored that the Gouveneur himself was a high ranking member during this time.
Early in the 19th century Dark Providence had become complacent and power was wrested back by the Children of Enos. The great treasure was hidden as the remaining tatters of Dark Providence fled the isles and settled in what is now known as Paragon City. Though broken and beaten fate was on our side for had we not been forced to flee we may have been destroyed forever when the great eruption shattered the Rogue Isles.
From the time of the eruption until now the archives are lost to antiquity. It is surmised that Dark Providence lay dormant and remained in the shadows not taking an active hand as the Heros cleaned up Paragon City.
The time now has come for us to step from the shadows and reclaim the power that was once ours, to seek out the hidden treasure and Items of Powers left by our founders, and to defeat all who oppose us.
