Void silently crept along the hall until he found the stairs. He looked down to see the guard at the bottom.
ONE guard? THIS is their increased security? He shook his head and silently walked down the stairs.
When he was behind the man, he pulled both hands back and covered them in shadows. When he struck, the man instantly fell.
Got to stash him somewhere until he wakes up...
Void saw a bathroom.
Perfect!
He dragged the unconcious man into the men's room and into the large handi-capped stall.
He sat him up on the toilet, still unable to be detected, before walking out.
He continued, the sounds of the party becoming clearer. Was there anything to challenge him? -
Void hovered over the building, thinking. He could slink in behind a guest, or try to break in through a window... or he could try something new.
It was really, really risky, considering he'd never tried it.
He set down on the roof, and placed a hand to it. It covered itself in a light shadow, and Void jumped in. He came out, still perfectly invisible, on the top floor.
All he had to do was sneak down to the party and he could hand off the poison. -
"Flying," he grumbled and walking outside. "Might as well start heading there now. They can just IM me if there's a change of plans."
He pulled open the laptop and used MapQuest to find the ballroom.
He kicked off the ground and began to make his way there, invisible to every form of detection thanks to the shadows he used. -
"Judging by how you said 'some', I guess I'm the one who has to get there myself?" said Void.
-
"Again, a night with almost no sleep," said Void.
He took the poison out of his pocket and examined it. "I'm ready when you guys are." -
"I was talking to Val on the plane and got nervous," he explained. "She always seems to run out when I'm the only one nearby."
((Well it was either that or have Void run screaming >.> Maybe it's not too late to change it to that... hmmmmmm.)) -
"Actually..." Void pulled out a handful of vials. "I took these yesterday after I got off the plane from some guys mugging a woman."
He handed her the six vials full of blood. -
"You ever heard of wounds too deep to heal?" Void leaned in and patted the ice sculpture on the back. He sighed, sitting back down in his corner. "I don't know why they would kill them... it just doesn't..." he shook his head. He had been trying to figure this out the last year to no avail.
"Thanks for listening. It does kind of help to tell someone every once in a while." -
The globe slowly faded away, becoming normal shadows. "I'm technically sixteen..." He was definitely hesitating to tell the story. "I... lost control of myself after being psychically thrown into the wall by a crazed clown. I began to get rage I... couldn't control. I ended up turning a Skull who taunted me about the attack and made me feel helpless into a pile of ooze on the ground... with my hands... then there was an Outcast group that threatened me for getting on their turf."
He removed his sunglasses as he rubbed his eyes. Ice Queen caught a light shade of blue before he slipped them back on. "I was scared I'd lose control when Longbow was chasing me and especially when my parents tried to bring me home. I... attacked them... then tried to run. The woman who had made me start losing the control, Harlequin, kidnapped me."
He looked at his white gloves as he thought how best to continue. "They brought in help, The Masters of Mayhem I mean. They got two of my parents' and their friends', The Buttkickers of the Fantastic, bigger enemies. One is... well it's a long story but he's the reason I have shadow powers naturally. He did something in my mind that removed the rage. The other was an assassin, like I am now, and he trained me. At first I didn't want to help them, but I knew I couldn't go back. They made me attack my former teammates... my friends..."
Void's eyes began to water on the edges. The dream flashed through his mind again. "The 'Kickers thought my parents had helped the Masters kidnap me, and they killed them. All that the assassin, Ruby Blade, could find was this." He drew out the piece of green and black cape, what he had pulled out of his belt she realized.
"I want them dead for it... all of them. They took away everything... All of it!" The tears streaked down his cheeks. "The Masters said they would help me get my revenge. But I had one more test. They made me fight by best friend... I almost killed him. I tried to save him when he fell in the water and hit his head, but he was bleeding so badly... I haven't been able to see him in so long... We still failed to kill the 'Kickers..."
He got up and managed a weak laugh. "But hey, could be worse right?" -
"What?" Void quickly hid the torn piece of cloth. "Yeah... yeah I'm fine... nightmares... don't worry about it." He moved his hand like he was pulling a curtain and a dark globe formed over him.
-
Void was out like a light, despite his aversion to sleep. And as always, he fell into a dream.
His parents stood in front of three heroes. The main leader of the supergroup, The Buttkickers of the Fantastic, along with two who he normally talked with when making decisions.
"Guys, we wanted to talk to you about Void..." said one encased in full armor. Hyper-Man.
"Did you hear something new?" Danica asked.
"Did you guys play any part in the kidnapping?" asked Jack Power, a large man in yellow and blue armor, but no helmet like Hyper.
"What? He's our son!" said Burning. "Why would we-"
"No need to get angry, we're just asking," said Johnny, a hero in red and black spandex and goggles.
"There's been some evidence found that you guys may have helped Harlequin and the Masters-" started Hyper.
"We would never- how could you guys even think we would do that?" said Danica, nearly yelling.
"We're gonna have to take you in for questioning. They'll hold you at the Zig for a few months and-"
"A few months?!" said Burning. "By the time we're released the dampening drug will have nearly removed our powers. You guys aren't thinking straight. C'mon, we'll hit the streets and get information on where the Masters of Mayhem are hiding right now."
"Not this time, BB," said Johnny, extending his claws.
Fire shot down Burning's arms. He held a fireball in each hand. "You're making a mistake."
Danica seemed to glow with determination as she crouched into a fighter's stance. "Stop. Now, before something bad happens."
Hyper sighed. "Something already has. And it was your fault."
He snapped his fingers and heroes swarmed from every corner of the room.
Fire, ice, energy, the sound of fists whooshing through the air, clawing... Void tried to look away but he couldn't.
When the heroes walked away as if nothing had happened, all that was left was a piece of Burning's cape, shredded.
Void woke up, sobbing. He popped open the jewel on his belt and took out the piece. He huddled himself closer and waited for the darkness he conjured himself to take him away from everything, if only for a little while. -
Void considered removing the cowl and sunglasses for a second, but then just shrugged and sat back in his corner.
-
The uncomfortableness of her words and the spikes made the darkness fall. "Thanks?"

No.
9. Can I follow-up with you with more (brief) questions either in-game or via a forum PM?
Of course. -
Void blackened Ice Queen's vision by covering her eyes with shadows. "And I love doing that to people. Go figure."
-
"Re... place?" Void looked at the new member for a second before he was sure she was a vampire like Vallery. At least the breath spray still wasn't a waste.
He stuck out a hand. "My name is Void Brawler. Nice to meet you." -
Void couldn't sleep again. He sighed and walked over to see who else was awake when he saw the new arrival.
He was about to speak when he remembered the garlic spray from earlier. He grabbed an Icebreaker and popped it into his mouth before saying, "Hello." -
Void bulled out a bottle and sprayed some of its contents into his mouth.
"Garlic spray," he explained. "No offense, Val."
He went into a corner of the room and laid back against the wall, soon falling asleep. -
Void rolled his eyes. "I'll do my best to focus."
He picked up the laptop and began to leave the room when he remembered one last detail he'd need. "Do you have the building and security plans on the laptops? And where do I pick up the poison from?" -
Void was already thinking of the many ways he could slip into the building unnoticed and not even have to worry about Security.
"You could find the guy, take it from him, then kill him. Or you could disguise yourself. But what if he doesn't have it on him? Like if its in a lap top or he memorized it?" -
Void looked at the information. "Ok but what is the nuke gonna be used for? I won't assassinate anyone until I know."
-
"How do we make stab wounds and ribs puncturing lungs look like an accident?" asked Void. He felt a little uneasy about this job and had to ask his next question. "What is the bomb going to be used for?"
-
"What I meant was, do I have to get a thicker cowl so you can't bite my neck." He tried to wink as he said this to try and take any edge off it, but he still got nervous. When Val was hungry, anyone can be a snack.
-
"Same as always." By the look on his face, the others in the room could tell it wasn't good.
-
Void pushed off the door and picked up the lap top. He looked it over before opening it and starting it up. "These are nice. How've you been, Ryan?"
