Void found the commander radioing the next command to fire. He flew over to him and gently set down behind.
Pulling both arms back, shadows covered his fists.
He struck and a the commander fell, temporarily paralyzed by the strike.
The soldiers protecting him readied their rifles, but a darkness enhanced backhand knocked one away. Void ducked under the second's fire to come with an uppercut that broke the soldiers arm.
The other two made a run for it, but Void reached a hand out to one, and drained his energy. The next almost made it to warn the others about their leader's demise, but he was suddenly faced with etherreal demons.
Void had created a deep, irrational fear in him by tapping into the dark energies. The soldier ran screaming. Void called out a warning but was too late. He impaled himself on a spike of ice to escape the 'demons.'
The boy was shocked. He hadn't expected him to react so strongly to it. He never moved to kill, only to stop.
Shrinking back into the shadows, he hastily ran, the sight horrificly replaying in his mind again and again and again. -
Void decided to make sure he NEVER got her angry as he stealthed and dropped in the midst of the soldiers. He looked for the leader.
-
Void heard the first explosion into the ballroom.
He grabbed Alexis and pulled her away from the guard she had been draining into a hallway where the melted room could easily be seen.
Another tank shell came whizzing right for them.
Void pushed her head to the ground as he fell flat. It blew up the security room behind them.
Void rose into the air, and turned back to Alex. "C'mon, they're takin' the whole place down!" -
Void saw the soldiers coming and groaned. He leapt in their midst and became a flurry of shadowy fists, leaping off shoulders to knock out the guard across, then slamming him to the ground by flipping him into another.
As guards attempted to take aim, he simply moved in a way that made it nearly impossible to get a good shot for even a second. -
Void at first didn't realize what was the matter with Ryan as he made another punch at the guard. His cowl kept the gas from affecting him, and even then, his mother had taught him meditative techniques so he could stay awake in the stuff for at least six hours.
When he realized it was sleeping gas, he decided to use it to his advantage, and stepped behind the guard. He pressed two fingers into a point on the side of his neck to hurry along the sleeping. -

As the three moved for John, Void turned to Alex. "Give him the poison before he makes the call!"
His fists wrapped in nether energies. He ran forward to deliver a deadly uppercut of his own.
((Draining=Life Siphon, RP Version.)) -
The *poomf* of the net being launched was enough for Void to roll away, thanks to the energy he had stolen from Kevin. It made him hit harder and move faster, which could spell death for anyone, if he struck to kill at least.
The only people he wanted dead were the Buttkickers of the Fantastic, but these guys were just in his way.
He noted the flash grenades and quickly extended the shadows around the room, making them only good for lightning it up so the he could actually see where everyone was.
Void hoped he didn't plan on using the frag grenade. He could dodge most anything but not shrapnel.
Alex noted she could see, but the UN official and the guard by the wall could not. -
Comedically, when Void was knocked off his feet, the sap shot went way over.
He wasted no time rolling back next to the second guard and grabbing his wrists. He flipped him and began draining his strength. -
Void was blocked, but the dark energies and force of the strike were still sufficient damage. The shadows would slow his opponent's reflexes and make it harder for him to see where he was striking.
Part of Void's training in evasion made things seem to move more slowly when he was attacked.
That's why when the sap gun was pulled, Brawler quickly dropped the ground, the shot flying wide over his head.
He swept the guard's feet out from under him and moved in to knock him out. -
The 'Kickers went into a deep and uneventful sleep.
The next morning, Hyper-Man ran several checks through the computer. He was searching for news reports while simultaneously following leads he had gotten from Hellions and Outcasts.
It wasn't long before a news station showed a very disturbing report.
"Last night, the city saw a terrible tragedy that always strikes deep into our hearts. Heroes have fallen to villainous ways."
Hyper-Man was about to minimize the window when he saw himself blasting a police-man. His eyes widened and he turned up the volume. He pressed the siren once, an alert to get the 'Kickers running into the control room.
He paused the feed as everyone ran inside.
"What's the matter, Hyp?" asked Johnny.
"This." Hyp started the tape again, and Johnny was seen keeping three cops knocked up in the air with a whirlwind spin.
"What the-"
The camera feed switched to Jack and Chris busting down the bank door as Burning incinerated the cops rushing in to stop them.
All of the 'Kickers mouths went wide as they watched themselves. Violet and Phantom sent citizens running, screaming off their heads in terror from horrible illusions.
The nightime sky grew foggy as Super Shard froze the fleeing citizens in place and Otsob and Woot Wing ran in to shatter them.
The picture showed several different security camera feeds and every 'Kicker present saw themselves doing things they swear they never did.
"This is bad, really really bad," Hyper muttered as he typed a few commands.
"Just pull the security camera recording from our base, that'll prove us innocent," said Jack.
Hyper pulled up the first empty room, bed sheets thrown to the floor. The second was the same. Third, fourth, fifth, all of them were empty.
He rewound the tape to where Jack was lying down. It suddenly went black for a few seconds, then he was gone.
Hyper was about to type in a few more commands when the base power went down.
He hit his head on the keyboard. Burning paced back and forth, trying to figure out how none of the magical defenses didn't go off. He then thought about Danica and Pstorm. The police were coming and he had to tell them what was happening. As Longbow came in to take the 'Kickers in for questioning, they noticed one was missing on the head count.
Burning Brawler was gone.
---------------
Project Heat Seeker sat around a table with his lieutenants. Pyra, Torcher, Techno Flame, The Immolator, and Mystillumin.
They clanged wine glasses together in a toast as they watched the news report showing the 'Kickers being led away by Longbow.
"Techno, between your automatons and Mystillumin's illusions, the plan went perfectly," said Seeker. He turned back to the screen to watch the news report
"-but it seems one, Burning Brawler, has evaded the police."
Seeker spat out the wine he had been drinking. He turned to the screen where an image of the hero was behind the news anchors head. He angrily threw the glass to the ground, shattering it.
"It's one hero, boss. Chill out," said Torcher.
In the blink of an eye Seeker was gripping his throat, flames slowly, dangerously coming towards Torcher.
"This 'one hero' can cause us many problems. Don't forget that." He rubbed his eyes in frustration before releasing Torcher, the flames centimeters from his neck. Seeker placed his helmet back on. "He is likely seeking out his family. We will catch him and we shall destroy him."

Burning had cast a spell of invisibility on himself and felt relatively secure as he zipped between alleys and streets. He had to make it to his apartment first, where Danica would be waiting... no, they would definitely head there first.
Rachel! She could relay the message.
But how could he get there without being caught? He would just have to try getting through one of the public portals.
He flew between the buildings of Steel Canyon, watching the Longbow patrols nearby.
He saw the statue ahead. He was almost at the portal when he could here a Lonbow officer conversing with Positron.
"I'll keep an eye out for him," said the Phalanx hero. "But I don't understand how an entire group of heroes all turned rogue. It makes no logical sense."
"It is disturbing, but it seems a reality," said the officer before flying off in the direction of Burning's apartment building.
He sighed and entered the portal.
The 'Kickers Kids base was quiet, which was odd to Burning because most times he was there, everyone was running all over.
He found Pstorm's room and knocked.
She opened the door, then hurriedly pulled him inside.
"Longbow was already here. They told us to stay in our rooms." Pstorm waved her hands for a moment, and lightning crackled.
"What was that for?"
"Disabling the bugging devices around the building for a few minutes. But what happened?"
"Relay this to your mother." Pstorm nodded and placed both hands to her temples. "We didn't do it. It must be a plan of the Legion. The news report and security cameras somehow had recordings of us breaking into and robbing the bank, including killing police-men and terrorizing people. I'm going to find the 'Kickers and hopefully get them away before they are sent to the Zig, if they haven't gotten themselves away already."
Pstorm nodded, and Danica heard the message. She was being questioned by Longbow, and the second her eyebrows rose, she stopped paying attention.
"Ma'am?"
"Huh, oh. Sorry. What was that again?"
"I asked if you had seen or heard from your husband in the last twelve hours."
"No," she lied. The detector didn't register the fib, and her ability to cover her thoughts made it impossible for the psychic reader to detect the conversation and lie.
"Ok, that'll be all. Tell us if you see him."
She nodded and walked back to her room.
When they left, she hurried to put on her improved costume. -
Void crept behind John. He pulled both fists back, and the air rustled as shadows covered his fists.
He struck a fierce blow at his head.
((There we go. Rustle for a warning, and just saying I struck doesn' mean I hit.)) -
Void got the idea. "If yes, hug him in fear, if no, ask him for something to eat."
Those were the first ones that came to his mind that weren't too suspicious. -
Void lightly set himself down and whispered to Alex, too low for the other two to hear. "Should I take out the other guy?"
-
((Void is hiding in the room the UN guy took Alex to. He's holding himself up in the corner of the ceiling.))
-
Void silently held himself in the corner, using his own strength to hold himself with a bit of assistance from his ability to fly.
As soon as this went bad, like it likely would, he was ready to help Alex. -
Void Brawler held his watch close. It was his communicator for The Masters of Mayhem, but could probably work to send a message to Alex.
If everyone had a receiver in their ear, this was good. He whispered, "Alex, I'll be right behind you."
He quickly darted between the crowds before reaching her. He gave her a light tap on the shoulder so she'd know he was there. -
Void seemed to yawn as he put the tracker on a statue. He walked deep into a crowd and stealthed himself, unnoticed. If he was lucky, they'd assume he had teleported out.
-
Void had managed to remain undetected by cameras as he dropped down and into a corner where the cameras couldn't see him.
He became visible and walked as if he had been there all night, and pretended to be really bored. He walked by Alex and pretened to bump into her. "Sorry, hey, don't we go to school together?" He slipped the vial into her hand. He figured saying this would further the UN Official's assumption that she was underage.
Void pretended someone was calling him. "Oh, there's my friend. Cya." As he headed towards the 'voice', he took the tracker with him. -
Void looked over the railing at the party below.
He found a closet and quickly ran inside.
He felt like a secret agent as he slipped off his costume to reveal the Tux underneath. He straightened the bow tie before restealthing himself and walking back outside. He shut the door and looked around for who he was supposed to hand the vial off to.
