  1. Isis was a bit taken aback by this bit of news.
"Err, well... d'you have some paper an' I can write her a note... who's cookin if she's not?" she misses the irony of asking for paper for a note while she is carrying an armload, "Uh, When'll she be back?"
As she was given the paper and pen she wrote, "Gal, I have gotten in touch with the globetrotters. They look forward to playing us in a few days." she signed it, "Sistah in arms, Isis Jones." and added her cell number.

"D'ya think I could have a bit to eat while I'm here?" she peers in to see who's about.
  2. Isis, having finally sorted everything out got some more appropriate clothes and headed to Gal's. She had made up a sign up sheet, rules and advertising fliers to put up announcing the game. Thus, carrying a large stack of papers she entered the restoraunt, wriggling her way through the door. When the maitre'd stopped her she asked him if she could see Gal as she had some important news for her and she wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer, pushing past him to the cooking area if she had to.
  3. Isis smiles at the food, "You keep giving me food I'm never gonna leave." and she quickly does so.

Once home Isis decided to wait until tomorrow to make her call. She knew her 'friend' would probably be asleep right now and she was going to have a lot of work ahead of her. So she took a bath and went to bed herself.

Isis woke up early that morning and decided to bust a few Skulls. No matter how many she sent away there always seemed to be more to take their place. It made her sad to see these kids throwing away their lives and at the same time took no pitty on them, knowing that given half a chance they'd corrupt more youths.

Once that was done she went home sat infront ot the phone for a few moments, gathered her strength and made her call, *ring, ring, ring, click* "Hello? Armstrong residence."
Isis closed her eyes, "Hello my brother, how've you been?"
"Wow! Hey sis! Things are great! It's good to hear from you. I hope you haven't been getting into trouble."
She and her brother had been fairly close but they traveled in different circles and had their own intrests, "Well... actually that's what I do now."
"Say what? You get in trouble?"
Isis had tried to put off telling him this but now she had to, "You know about the trouble in Paragon city right?"
"Sure, who doesn't... wait, are you telling me you're in there? You're not doing anything wrong are you? Girl, if mama finds out what you're doing she will rearange..." She cut her brother off, "No, I'm helping. I'm 50 years old you think I'm going to start running with gangs now? Listen, I need a huge favour. Do you still talk to anyone from the globetrotters?"
    "Sure, why?"
"I got a game they couldn't refuse. Some friends and I want to bring them here to play against some heroes."
There was a long silence, "You're serious aren't you? What do you need me for?"
"Well, I hoped an old player might have more push and I thought you could hook me up with a good word. It's for a shelter for kids."
"I'll see what I can do but there's no one with super-powers on the team you know. Let me get your number." she game him her number and some ideas she had to make things even for the 'trotters.

After she hung up she went out to the grocery store and got herself some food and made herself a big lunch. As she finished the phone rang. It was the manager for the globetrotters. Isis told him Gal's idea for a charity basketball game and her own ideas to make it even for them.

It seemed though that he had already made his decision. Some of the players had already suggested the idea and this seemed the best moment to take up the offer. They had infact just been cancled out of one place. So now all she had to do was try and get a temporary pass for the Globetrotters. Maybe with a little bribing she could pull it off if all else failed.
  4. Isis perks up at Gal's eagerness at this idea. "Well, he doesn' play no more but I bet he knows the current marketin' guy an' it'd take a few days ta set up. Maybe we could rent some stuff from a gadgeteer to loan the globetrotters so they'd be on more even ground. If you don' mind sistah I'm gonna go an' see if I can bang somethin' out." she gives Gal a friendly hug, "Be safe girl." Isis heads out with an excited bounce in her step. She pauses at the door, "Could you ask Sweet what he thinks or should I? I don' even know his number or nothin."
  5. [ooc: this is a side story to Gal's place with Isis Jones, Sweet Thang and Gal. The first bit is a conversation but feel free to join in the game]
    [ QUOTE ]
"Thang, you don't come down here soon with the Missus and I'm gonna think you got somethin' on the side." She winked to show it was a joke, no more devoted husband did she know, and it wasn't because he was unpopular with the ladies.

"Isis, them kids would be tickled to see the likes of you there," she helped Thang collect the stacks of memorabilia. "I'd bet he's done shown them most of your movies. Compared to that crap they show today..."

She made a very displeased face. Sex, violence and obvious advertisement was what today's movies had, and she preferred anything before the eighties. Isis may have worn small skirts and had a mouth, but she was true and decent in her movies.

"Thang, I got an idea," mind working like crazy, she knew that Ms. Thang's temper was not to trifled with, and Gal had stood toe-to-toe with Dr. Vahz and not batted an eye. "If Isis would care to...how about a charity event? Show the kids that heroes can be fun, too?"

Isis thought for a moment, "Super power b-ball? How do we d'side who can play or no? I'm normal 'sept I heal fast. That gives someone like Sweet an advantage since he can shoot a lot harder. But maybe... what if I could get a team that don't mind playin against us, an they do it fer charitty too. I just don' know if they can get in here. D'you think those kids know the Globe trotters? One 'a' my class mates was one 'a' them. They're real good, showmen an I bet they might like t'play against the likes of us."
Isis looked between her two friends to see if they had any ideas.
  6. What server do you play on? I've heard tell that Virtue is the unofficial rp server but I agree they need a more rp friendly environment.
  7. They're real good, showmans an I bet they might like t'play against the likes of us."
  8. Isis stood up and took his hand, "I will. It was great to meet you. I don't know that I have a lot of fans. I must still have some because money still trickles in but it's really nice to meet one in person. And even better to make a new friend. Be safe okay?" for a moment losing her accent. It isn't that she's lying or faking the accent but when she took up vigilantism she also took the role of Isis to protect her relatives and friends since they were the only ones who knew her real name and her stage name.

Now with an empty plate and an empty table she wondered where Gal went and who was manning the kitchen and what she was going to have to do to get more food.
  9. Isis blushes and looks away, "That fight scene... what they don' say, an' most don' know is that we had a bit of a rivalry. In a movie, you're not really supposed to hit the other person. The cameras are set up so you come close but miss but it -looks- like you hit. Well, she said a few things about my fightin an' I said a few things back, off camera, an' when it came time t'do that scene... well, let's just say none of that is make-up an' it only took one take when the director realised what was goin on." she shakes her head, "I can't believe how stupid I was back then. I also wish I had the healin I have now. As for a comeback... I don' know. I thought about it but I think the age of Sistahs fightin to clean the streets of crime are over. These days it's all special affects and what not. I don' think I could compete... or keep up.

I'd love to come an' talk to the kids, but you don' have t' pay me." she grins, "I might notta been payed as much as actors these days but I was smart an' put it all away. I really don' need money much. Except for food. I could probably eat twice as much as you and still look how I do now. Jus' tell me a place an' time an' I'll be there. Though, I don' know what you'd have me talk about."
  10. "What d'you mean the odds are against me?" was all she said before listening to Sweet's story. As he finished she smiled at him and patted his hand, "You mama musta been proud. I wish I coulda had a son like you." she pauses, "I donno how much you know 'bout me but let's just say my time's come an' gone. I might look alla that but I'm old enough to be your mama. It get's a lil' wierd at times.

So which is your favourite movie a mine? Mine would have to be the first Isis Jones. She was always cleanin up the 'hood where I grew up. It was always a special thing t'me that. They call it blacksploitation now 'cause they think we was bein' used, me, I saw it as bein' empowered. I was cleanin the streets of the gangs an violence if only for a lil' while. I was helpin make life worth livin. I was also makin bein in a gang look bad.

I heard a story from a mama of a boy who'd cover his mirror after seein' one 'a' my movies. You tell me who's bein' exploited there? I don' think it's me, sir."
  11. Isis couldn't help blushing at his eagerness. She put her hand in his and shook it, "Nah, call me Isis please. Miss Jones is... was for another decade. When I was famous I woulda insisted on Miss Jones t'keep distance. I admit, the fame got to my head some. After my accident... I'da prob'ly run away. Now, I'm a big girl and the fame's over. You might be a fan but that don' mean we can't be friends. I'd be more'n happy t'sign whacha got there. You know I got plenty 'a' posters at home. How'd you like if I gave you some?" She glances at the dvds, "Ehhh... D'you got a pen for me t'write with?

I come here for the same reason everyone else. T'give it to The Man." she grins and winks, "Nah, really I'm here cause the stuff here is leakin out. Yeah they got those force field walls but no one's perfect. Somehow some kids, gangers, got some 'a' that drug subradine an I tracked it here. I cleaned up my home, now I plan on doin the same here. How about you?"
  12. Isis smiled, impressed at how well Gal knew and controlled those under her. She fixed her hair again for the umpteenth time, it being the only thing about her that's phisically changed in the past thirty years. She smiled as they were introduced, "It's good t'meet a brothah who's out makin a dif'rence. Gal's tol' me some about you but glazed over details." She struggled a bit, unsure what to say.
  13. Isis poked and ate her desert, trying to make it last as long as possible, and made small talk with Vegas. until Gal returned.
"Sorry I worried you sistah, but your expresion." she grinned.
"Anyway, whacha mean by what he's been through? I been talkin to people an it seems t'me that everyone's got somethin. I ran with gangs, you beat up some guy who deserved it an' I'm sure that's jus' the surface.

Also I'm sure all of us have done good. Why else would they be callin us heroes? Though I'm jus' here cause I want to make a dif'rence." she pauses for a moment, "So when's he going to get here, t'be honest I never really talked to any of my fans so it's kind of exciting."
  14. ((Sweet, I've been racking my mind trying to think of a good movie name, thank you.))

Isis can't help but laugh at Gal's worried expresion, "I was putting you on girl" she chuckles again, "It'd be great to meet a fan an' maybe make a friend." suddenly thought that maybe making her hero costume look like one of the ones from her movies wasn't such a great idea, and felt a bit self consious about meeting a fan though she put on her best face.
  15. Isis looks surprised as Gal calls Sweet Thang. "You umm... didn' have to call him you know. I was just wonderin' who he was." as she regains her composure, "Anyway, I was an actress, I a'ready don' work. I tol' you I went to school. Well, I learnd to invest. Anyway, nice guy like that doesn' want an old biddy like me. I could probably be his mama." she chuckles a bit.
  16. Shakes her head, "Oh, it happend some twen'y years ago. We were goin' t'be married but... I don't really know what happen'. All I remember..." she shakes her head, "Who was that big fella you were talkin' to earlier?" she gives a lopsided grin, "Maybe you could introduce us sometime eh? Or is he taken?" Isis is pretty old fashioned and just figures Gal is being nice and complimenting or comforting her and accepts it as that. She also decides to try and change the subject since everything that's happend to her prior to becomeing a vigilante/super hero is kind of sensitive.
  17. Isis sighs and pauses a moment as she reminises, "'s like, a wonderful thing t'be famous. Like you can go anywhere you want and you don hafta show your ID, everyone knows you. You get into alla the sweetes' places.

But atta same time you gotta watch what you do an say. I got in trouble a coupl'a times that's kina when my c'reer started slippin. Then I had my... accident an' when I walk 'way an' my man didn' it hurt. I dunno if you got a special man in your life but to lose him when you're just fine. You start to question things." she sighs again, "I donno, maybe I'm too ol' fer movies now. I tol' myself I'd try an get back but... Prettending to be Isis an' actually bein' Isis... well, I feel I'm maken a difference this way.

Makin' movies is a lotta work. You gotta get up early an' go t'bed late. You gotta do an' say the same thing over 'n' over. It's kinda like the army I imagine. You gotta follow orders to the letter an' if you mess up the director's yellin' at you. He might not call ya names to your face but you know he's thinkin' 'em.

For now I'm solo but there's a group I might join if I wan'ed to."
  18. "I know what you mean? I did some time too, it turned me around. My mama and papa were so upset. I decided to do better, to make them proud. So I started tryin an' whent tah school an' in my free time I took some martial arts classes. I got into movies when someone saw me practicin at the dojo. He offered me a roll in a movie. Not a big role, but it got my name in lights and I got a big role after that.

Anyway, it's nice to not be famous. I don't gotta worry 'bout the press or nothin. Maybe one day I'll come back but I don't think I will any time soon. My only power is fast healing and eating lots. It's embaracin, ya know. Especially with everyone tryin to be fit, I can't help it."
  19. (It's supposed to be like 70's ghetto but I'm not very good at it. Hah)

Isis blushes a bit, "The movies I made aint popular now though I'm really surprised you never heard a me. I made it big but nothin last ferever." She nods, "I'd love more. I eat for an army too but don't gain nothin fer it. Your cookin is amazin though. So's it all you do is work here? You got your own powers or somethin?"
  20. "Hope you like the food, my mamaw taught me how to cook. Saint Louis, wrong side of the tracks, where I'm from. Where'd you say you're from?"

Isis began eating rather ravenously, speaking between bites, "I come from New York but I move tah hollywood for a while where I did a few movies. I then had my accident. My career was dyin anyway so I went home 'til I could a'scept my condition. Gangs started gettin bad so, I used what I learned in my movies and my new powers an' started cleanin' up the place, you know?"
She sighed as she finished eating she was still hungry but was hesitant to ask for more food incase she looked like a pig.
  21. Gal wipes a hand on her towel and holds it out, "Gal, Gal 'O War, owner and cook. I'm glad ta meet another Sistah, don't see many around this far north. See you found Fulton's Reserve, hope it's ok. Made by some relatives in Missourah," she winks and laughs.

Isis takes her hand in a triple handshake, "Isis Jones, actress an' heroine. Fulton's is awright but with my power it aint doin' much. I don' drink much really, I jus' needed to relax an' it seemed right at the moment. The good thing is if I'm hurt it don' bleed long but I hafta eat a lot."

Isis picks up her plate to follow Gal to the cooking area.
  22. "Pardon me, but here's your order, Nice to see another sistah, and the hair is fine!"

The voice behind Isis caused her to jump. She turned and smiled at Gal, "Hey Girl, thanks. It's nice t'see you too." she pauses a moment, "Got time for a break sistah?"
  23. "That will be a few minutes, and if you leave a decent tip, you can call me Gerry." Gertrude left, through the swinging doors to the kitchens, and returned a moment later with Isis' salad. "Would you care to sit at a table, ma'am?"

As Gertrude returned Isis gave her a rather confused look, "Gerry?" this being more a male name to her but decided not to go anyfarther with, "Yeah, I'll take a table." and follows the waitress to a table to sit and eat turning introspective on herself and thinking how things had been. She catches the small woman getting asked for ID thinking that as much of a pain it is atleast they're doing it right.
  24. Isis turns away to hide the smile at Vegas' tact since the stool was obviously not broken. She set down her empty glass and asked for another drink. She removed her red bandana for a moment and pulled back her long white hair and putting the bandana back on. Wearing a red spandex suit with white stripes down the side, she really wasn't in propper attire for the dining area so opted to remain in the bar as she waited for her food.
