If you've a desire to continue whatever in-game problem you have with me, there's the PM button. This is not the "Issues with Dominators in I6" thread, this is not the "attempt to call out people over things said in Siren's two days ago" thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You must have me confused with someone else. I don't have an in-game problem with you, I've barely even run into your characters in the game, and I have not had any discussions with you in Siren's Call. I'm going solely by what you've written here on the forums and in related rants by you on global channels.

Why don't you try following Fishw0rk's advice so that you can actually test the dominator changes and report on them? A few dominator players have reported useful information about the changes (e.g., that you only get bonus domination points from PVP hits, which is working as intended but maybe not as desired by players). Others have commented on the utility of reduced domination recharge and how it compares to our ability to fill the bar. I realize that you're having trouble getting to that point because of your PVP troubles, but griping about it isn't accomplishing anything either, plus is looks petty when you snap at people who are trying to help you get past that trouble and into the actual testing.

You don't know the secret to getting Dom up in PvP; NPCs .... The simple fact can be summed up in one simple sentence.
    Dominators have zero survivability period.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, this is bizarre. You're telling this to a guy who has had great success building domination against heroes and who has demonstrated great success in both PVP offense and defense with dominators. Elsewhere, you've complained that the plant primary and cold secondary are especially weak, even though they're widely considered among the best power sets for dominators. You've consistently expressed opinions at odds with the good advice I've seen, and you're getting wasted in PVP. Have you considered that maybe you're doing something wrong? That perhaps your firmly-held beliefs not only interfere with your play but prevent you from learning from mistakes?

Think about it. Fishw0rk is one of the most successful dominator players in PVP, while you complain that you're struggling to even survive. However, you're not only rejecting his advice, but telling him that your way is better. Huh?
  3. In large groups, I normally find either that the team is an unstoppable zerg, or it's a chaotic mess beyond my ability to help. Either way, I don't feel particularly important as an individual, but nor do I feel like I'm leeching or dragging the team down. Honest, I'm really happy with PVE so far, and my mistakes don't seem to hurt my dom any more than my mistakes hurt my MA/regen scrapper (which is very similar to my mind/psi in play style).

It's only in PVP that I feel hopeless sometimes, and even then I attribute much of the problem to poor teamwork. There have been lots of times where I have successfully isolated and locked down a hero, but I don't have the backup to finish them off before reinforcements can arrive. With the domination change, hopefully I won't need backup, although frankly, I believe that better teamwork would be a much better "buff" for my play style than any game tweak.

As we have stated many times over on the Dominator Forums: the general CoV crowd frowns upon teaming with a Dominator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In a recent thread, several people noted that this seems to be a server-specific or even forum-specific thing. I don't have problems finding teams on Virtue, and I actually turn away more team requests than I accept. And it's not just the inherent that gets "That was awesome!" compliments. I've gotten much praise simply from a well-timed TK, Mass Hypnosis, or Terrify. I also seem to get a fair amount of praise simply for playing a scraptroller, as people don't seem to expect a successful squishy on the front lines. About the only time I don't feel important is on huge teams, but I find that's true with most characters I play.

Anyway, while I certainly wouldn't mind PVE buffs -- more hit points would be nice -- I'd much rather see additional changes to make us less fragile in PVP, whether it's making our active defenses more viable (like the I7 change) or giving us some passive defenses.

But the reason why there isn't a unified front is because there isn't universal dissatisfaction. In some environments, both the doms and their teammates are happy. And I suspect that after the I7 change, many of the skilled PVP dommers may even be content with the AT for PVP, especially among mind/psi players.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
... doms really need to present a united front to the devs in saying that we need changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not going to happen when many players are content with their doms. I personally feel that my dom rocks in PVE, and when I fail, I can usually identify a specific mistake that caused the failure. It may be that mistakes are easier to make with a dom, or that the consequences are harsher than they are with other ATs. However, most of the time, I don't make those mistakes, and my dom performs well.

PVP is another story, but I can easily see why many PVE-only players are entirely happy with their doms. Heck, I rarely even use the inherent because I rarely feel a need for it except for end-boss spawns, and often not even then. So I'm not surprised that the I7 change emphasizes PVP rebalancing.

    [ QUOTE ]
As long as the dom board presents a happy world where everything is wonderful and naysayers get flamed ....

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Don't exaggerate.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I don't see a good way to deal with that, except to treat less-than-mag controls as debuffs.

    Immobile -> -SPD.
    Hold -> -SPD, -RCH ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be awesome. Although then you'd probably see complaints that dominators are better (debuff) defenders than defenders are.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
You have no control in PvP no matter your slotting. Too many heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This does not match my experience in I6, nor does it match the early I7 reports coming from Fishw0rk.
  8. Duh, I just noticed that I misspelled "Venomous," and it's too late to edit the post. At least I spelled it correctly when I made the group in-game.
  9. Supergroup Name: Venemous Vixens
    Website: none currently
    Leader: Love-Taker
    Preferred Contact: in-game e-mail to Love-Taker or /tell to @Bradd
    Group Description: Beautiful and Deadly

Have you hit a glass ceiling? Are you willing to use seductive and lethal means to shatter it? If so, the Venemous Vixens are the supergroup for you!

((Despite the supergroup's femme fatale theme, male applicants are welcome. Please note, however, that the vast majority of current members are female, and the group's rank titles reflect that. Applicants should have a generally positive attitude and sociable demeanor. In particular, the group is pro-female, not anti-male. RP and PVP play is welcome but not required. PVP players should avoid OOC trash talk, but IC banter is encouraged. Members need not wear team colors, but characters under 25th level should play in supergroup mode so that we can complete our PVE base ASAP. There is no set schedule for promotions, but we are looking for like-minded characters and players to help with recruiting.))
  10. Supergroup Name: The Victors
    Website: none currently
    Leader: Inkpot
Preferred Contact: in-game email to Inkpot or /tell to @Bradd
Group Description: Champions of Paragon City

This supergroup was founded by a group of University of Michigan alumni in honor of their alma mater. The original heroes have since moved on, but the current members wish to continue the group's legacy. The group is similar to a fraternal or sports organization, with goals of philantropy, scholarship, good sportsmanship, bonding through friendship, and (of course) having fun. All heroes with similar goals are welcome.

((The Victors are especially well-suited for alumni and fans -- IC or OOC -- of the University of Michigan, but any hero with a generally positive outlook is welcome. Reluctant heroes are OK, but anti-heroes should not apply. Despite the fraternity-like atmosphere, female characters are welcome, and hazing is inappropriate. RP and PVP play are welcome but not mandatory. Likewise, players are encouraged but not required to wear the team's traditional maize & blue colors. However, characters under 25th level should play in supergroup mode full-time so that we can complete our PVE base as soon as possible. We currently have no set promotion path, but we are interested in additional recruiters who will bring in new members in line with the group's goals.))

Note that there are three conditions where firing upon the target of a scrapper may be forgiven.
    A. If a target is nearly terminated and it would be a waste of both time and endurance to finish the target, it is permissible to finish the target of a scrapper.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Note for the care and feeding of martial artists: If your scrapper crane-kicks a foe away and does not immediately pursue it, the scrapper doesn't care what happens to it. If the foe gets up again -- most times, it won't -- put it back down immediately.
