Preface...
Christian Tyler, known to the world as the legendary Emerald Gladiator, was one of the most respected and revered heroes of the 20th century. The only thing he valued more than the lives of the innocent people he protected daily was the life of his only son, Justin. Marie Carter-Tyler had died giving birth to Justin, and her one wish to Christian was for him to guide their son throughout his life to become as great and respected as he was.
Christian took his wifes words to heart and set out to instill in Justin the same values and ideals he made a life of defending as the Emerald Gladiator. He would also teach Justin the skills and discipline that made the Emerald Gladiator a feared opponent both in swordplay and hand-to-hand combat. Justin was a natural at learning his fathers trade and by the age of 16 it seemed he would be poised to join his father in the never-ending battle for justice. That is, until the unthinkable happened; the Emerald Gladiator, on a mission to help protect Montreal during a Trilune invasion, was mortally wounded.
The orphaned Justin would be adopted by his uncle Daniel (a respected lawyer of the Crown) who would teach him that his mind could be as effective a tool to fight injustice as his muscle. Justin, harboring new contempt for his fathers way of life, embraced his uncles philosophy. He would devote his time to studies and by the age of 25 would successfully complete the Bar exam. Two months later he would marry Sandra (a fellow law student he met and fell in love with at first sight) and barely a year later their daughter, Briana, was born. Working as a prosecutor in Montreal, Justin (as devoted to justice as his father was) made his living placing criminals behind bars. The Tyler family however, would suffer more tragedy before long
One year ago (Enter Blood Tears)
At 33 years old, Justin Tyler had it all; a successful career, a beautiful loving wife, and his reason for living Briana, his baby daughter. One fateful night however, Justins life would take a tragic turn. The familys peaceful slumber was interrupted buy a group of thugs that called themselves the Posse. Justin was taken by surprise by a chloroform gag and when he came to, he found he had been blind-folded and bound. He could hear his wife Sandra screaming in pain and calling out his name for help but he could not get free.
After what seemed to Justin like an eternity, Sandras screams suddenly stopped. Then he heard one of the assailants say, She is coming with us! and Brianas crying faded away along with the rushed footsteps of the thugs.
When the police finally arrived Justins blindfold was removed, revealing to him an image that would remain etched in his mind forever his wifes lifeless body, naked and battered on the bed, blood streaming down her face like tears.
Justin did not know why his life was spared that day, but one thing he did know
he would avenge his wife and find his daughter or he would die trying.
Today, wielding his fathers Khopesh, Justin Tyler prowls the streets of Montreal as the vigilante Blood Tears, dispensing brutal justice in his search.
