  1. Sorry, I'm doing my best. Maybe you should organise a team and do the same thing on a night that suits you.

  4. Militia Update

Sorry for all of the confusion. If you're not confused then you're doing well. Here's what I've come up with to solve the problems we have:

    1. Militia membership is now at a maximum of 16. The idea being that we can run 2 full teams if everyone arrives and if they don't we can divide up equally-ish when we meet. The teams will function independently.

    2. No Alpha or Bravo teams, just a pool of 16 characters to form 2 teams out of every Thursday.

    3. All new Militia members to join here listing their AT.

After a session or two we'll probably get into something of a team up routine.

I know nothing about Monday night sessions but if someone wants to use the 2nd session thread I posted to join that's fine. i can't face organising it at the moment though

In nutshell: A maximum of 16 characters meet up on Thursday at 7pm and we split into two teams to start work. the session finishes at 9ish and but peole can go back to the statue to chat if they wish.

We now need 6 more characters from the following list:

    2 tankers or
    2 scrappers
    1 blaster
    1 controller
    1 defender

I'll see if I can keep an updated post of all members so I know when we're full. everyone please post a bio in The militia thread; it's a good way to keep track.

Thanks for sticking with this, it's harder than I thought.

Spot a prob let me know please.

I just wanted to clarify something: If we're aiming to make a full team, surely that means a maximum of eight members, not ten? Sorry, I've only just realised that and it's been bugging me...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh [censored], you're right! All I can sugest for the moment is that we run with the two team idea. Two people need to volunteer to join team B and we'll bring that up to 8 players. I'm glad you spotted that dante otherwise Thursday could have been very embarrasing for me. In short Stasis's line of thought is right so we are looking to have 16 Characetrs in all. that should leave enough for two medium teams or one full one and a small one no matter what.

Anyone willing to go on B Team list please say and i'll move the first two to volunteer. It looks as though flexibility on the night is going to be the key.

    Well spotted Dante!

Fine by me, and my lev 12 tanker, Battleflag would love to join.

  8. Thanks for all the feedback, especially about death penalties, it's binned.

The consecutive teaming idea is fine but I'm concerned about things getting confused; mainly me. After a few weeks maybe thing'll change but for now I'm sticking with the eight.

If you look on the board you'll see I've posted a second team advertisement. It'll be exactly the same as this but I won't be involved, at least I don't plan to at the moment. Anyone interested can sign up. you can pick the night between you.

Zortel, Stasis and Bliz, this should suit you.

    Death Penalties:

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh. No. Really wouldn't work. You'll get situations where half the team couldn't make it to a session, somebody makes a blunder or two and suddenly you're down to two players. Where's the fun in that?

Don't choke this thing down with rules. It's just two hours every week and we're all in this for the fun. If there's all kinds of rules and "thou must" people won't bother to play and the whole thing will fall apart.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's exactly the kind of response I was looking for Leif, I hadn't considered it from that angle.

    Thanks

    Anyone else?

  11. DEATH

I'm seriously thinking of including variations of the following rules concerning hospital and death. This is just a draft idea so please let me know what you think.

    Death Penalties:

    1. Any player who dies i.e. is in need of an awake or hospital visit is regarded as incapacitated and must quit the game until the following week's session.(This could stand for two deaths so you get one chance. What do you think?)

    2. Any player may be brought back from the dead by a healer only once in a session. What I mean is, this is a freebie that doesn't count with the above rule. The rez will be of much more value but not a cure all(sorry about the pun.) Views?

    Why?

    • I see too much: I'm just off to the hosp but will be straight back. No debt, no problem!
    • Roleplay will be easier if were a bit worried that a mistake could end the session—death is scary.
    • Character personalities will be easier to see. It takes a brave tanker to do the job when death means goodbye for a week.
    • Mutual respect should develop. Healers and buffers will be valued, as will the brave folks at the front.
    • The aggro everything guy will be very unpopular and may even be voted off. (Not that I would hold that against the player if he or she is simply in role. You know, who wants to be on a team with The Hulk? Should this happen the player would be welcome back with another character of appropriate level)

This would all be reviewed for lev 10.

    Responses please.

Oh, I wouldn't start the death rule until the second session at the earliest.

I'm glad to see you're all getting to know each other. I just need to clarify a point to avoid disciplinary action in the form of exclusion from the team. Please read and adhere to the following rule:

MILITIA MEMBERS ARE ONLY SANCTIONED TO OPERATE AS A TEAM AND ONLY DURING THE ALREADY SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD.

    You have been warned!

  13. Ashen and Universe, great bios. It's interesting to see how differently people's minds work. Ashen used a very detailed profile technique(understandable considering the nature of the character) and Universe narrates his own story. Brother looks as though he's going to be a bit of a strange one and Fist gives the impression of being a good bloke who's had some bad luck. Thanks for the efforts All!

  14. JUST A REMINDER:YOUR CHARACTER SHOULD ONLY EVER BE ACTIVE ON THE THURSDAY NIGHT SESSION. A QUICK VISIT TO ATLAS TO SEE HOW YOUR CHARACTER LOOKS, MOVES ETC IS FINE BUT NO EXP SHOULD BE GAINED.

This may be my game ignorance coming out but how have you done the Icon thing before starting? You do know we are all starting at lev 1 zero exp?

Sorry, I imagine you can explain how you've done it all.

  16. Pious and Leif

I've just read your bios and I have to say I'm impressed. You've both managed to inject a real feel of your characters into your writing. When I meet you on Thursday it won't feel as though you're strangers.

I don't know about you but my only concern is managing to play the character I've created instead of battleflag with a different look. Moons of Zem , it'll be a struggle.

  17. Thanks for posting your bio Ashen, I'll go and have a look now. Higher than Minister! The very thought! No problem at all, it works for your character then it's fine with me. I'm pretty sure Minister's scowling though.

As for the Praetorian earth I've no idea what you're talking about. I've read The Vampire Earth by E E Knight and tht's superb.

    The Militia

    Devlin Saint

In a dimly lit room, complete with candle and flickering monitor, a young man sits reading a script written in a language that was dead before the continents split. Above his head, invisible and inaudible, two beings look on. One is red eyed and sharp toothed; the other is soft lipped and rosy of cheek.

"So is he mine or yours do you think, tk, tk."

"It is ever so hard to tell with his kind, Atlantean blood is so difficult to read. Must you clack your teeth like that?"

"Ha, best for us both that they left, damned meddlers."

"Indeed, they were a power unfathomable."

The young man stood up, an open can of Budweiser in his hand. The modern vessel clashed with a somewhat Victorian attire. He pressed a button and music filled the room, "Should I stay or should I go, If I go there will be trouble, If I stay it will be double..."
"I say he's mine, his soul is still untainted by modern standards."

"Tk, tk. Ah, but look at the way he moves, his eyes, that smile. There's a wolf in there and one day it'll come out, he's mine alright."

The young man lit a cigarette and semi danced around the room whilst reading the crumbling parchment.

"Dear me I see what you mean, he has no sense of reverence. That document could rock the religions of the world and he's treating it like a fly swat, no offence."

    "None taken."

"But then again, the glow of renewal is there, can't you see it?"

The young man stubbed his cigarette out and dropped the parchment as he looked upwards. "Would you two please shut up I'm trying to listen to this."

"...if you say that you are mine..."

    "What?!?"

    "Tk, What?!?"

"In my left hand I have death." The hand sparked dangerously. "In my right hand I have life." The hand glowed calmly.

Red eyes widened; soft lips gaped.

Sparking death and pulsing life blazed forth sending the two watchers racing back to their realms in shared surprise.

"One day is fine, next is black..."

"I'll decide who I am and who I'll be, by fair means or foul. And I'll do it in Paragon City."
  20. I will be the voice of The Ministry and Minister but you can certainly use them in your bio. If they're part of the world and your experience then you can't avoid including them in some way. I think it's important not to be too strict about anything, we can just rationalise everything to suit ourselves in the end.

I'm going to take a chance and assume I'm left with a defender character and post my bio. If necessary, I'll delete it and replace it with a different one. I just want to get things going so we're ready for Thursday. I'm wondering if a bit of drift from the original mix matters too much anyway.

  21. A bio would be great Pious, just make sure to post it on The Militia thread. I need to have anothe look at the team to see what we have; I got confused

If you or anyone else wants to help The Militia when they are short handed I am sure you would be welcome. As long as your security check is good that is. If there wasn't a space but there were other heroes there also waiting for a place you could form your own team to help or even rival The Militia. The Ministry likes natural selection.

I'd love to let you join now but team up numbers limit me. Once we're up and running I'll see about starting another group that may or may not involve me playing. If you want though, you could copy my original post and run your own version. I certainly wouldn't object if you wanted to copy any rp/ic stuff I post. All you'd need to do is change the team name and meet either somehwere else or at a different time. Have a think about it, it's just case of getting the people to sign up.

    The Militia

    To: The Militia

Sorry about all of the mystery but security is everything. You should each have received an information pack about what is required of you.

You should also be aware that you are very special in being formed at such an early security level. For the purposes of security you will not be on any official supergroup lists. The reason for this is that there are some serious problems in the city that many of our more experienced crime fighters see as being unworthy of their time. Just because the big players aren't involved, it doesn't mean the consequences aren't potentially dire. It is our belief that seemingly minor villains are being used for big things as they are likely to attract little attention.

In your early operations you can expect to encounter a variety of a criminal forces such as gangs, cultist and mechanical threats, although I am sure you will discover other dangers to the city as you progress. Paragon' police force is overstretched and frequently finds itself without anyone to call upon for support. You will fill that need.

You will meet each other for the first time at roughly 7pm UK time on Thursday 25th May in Atlas Park. The exact spot is beneath the statue of the female crime fighter who's reaching for the stars. If you can't find your way there then maybe you should think again about joining.

One of you will be told to take the lead initially but The Ministry believes a true leader will emerge over time. Everyone should take a turn at running things, unless of course it isn't really practical.

Please post any biographical information that you would like to share with the rest of The Militia here.

Ask any questions you want but we do not guarantee an answer.

    Paragon Expects!

    Good Luck!

    Minister
