Don't spend money or points purchasing a feature to fix a bug that's not your fault. This is a known issue per the conversation my kiddo had with the GM, and it was supposed to be fixed in the last patch per the email she got, but still seems to be happening.
It very well may have been fixed in the last patch. From what I have gleaned (which is everything I can find out about the cause/effect without seeing any mention of the bug other than this thread), the new costume slots all duplicate slot 2. I earned my 2nd costume long before the most recent patch, but I never did missions to earn further slots until yesterday.

It could very well be fixed, I just don't level fast enough, and I'm easily distracted by shinies.

Edit: It's fixed, in exactly the way you said. All is right with the world.

I put in a ticket. We'll see how this goes. In my experience, NCSoft has better customer service than most companies, albeit slightly slower than preferred.

I looked into that, but it only sounds like it changes your base gender, height, and such, then applies those changes to all costumes. I can't find out for sure if this would fix the gender change for all costumes after the first one. And, I'm not sure I wanna spend the cash to find out and have it fail.

I would agree, except the character's name is Boxylady. Emphasis on LADY. Having every additional costume slot negate the lady part is rather... compromising...

Can't find anything on the wiki about it, and my forum search-fu is not strong enough to see if this is a known issue.

    Sex change?

So, playing my Arachnos Soldier, level 10 hits and they tell me to go hang out with the Facemaker, so I can get my first real costume choices. I'm all excited (though I do love the costume I managed to wrangle up with just the defaults, particularly once I got the backpack), and I go do the mission for her.

The Facemaker's all "Stare into the void of my eyes and tell me what you wanna look like for this rather convenient disguise-based mission in which you will make your new costume," I stare into the void, and...

She gave me a sex change.

So, I deal with it, I make my disguise the opposite sex and figure that maybe the next costume will work better.

Long story short, it doesn't. It's the same as the last one, sex change and all. My question is: How in god's name do I fix this?
  6. I hit level 20 last night, and I must say, I am downright overwhelmed. I spent the first 19 levels feeling like I only had 1 or 2 things to do, just a bare handful of contacts, then I had literally 5 contacts go "Hey, Bags! Psssssssst. Remember how penned in you felt five minutes ago? Come do something awesome."

I feel hurt and offended that you all kept this from me. Now, I just need to hit 24 so I can have yet another set of intense decisions and overwhelming options.

Oh, gods. Don't remind me about EQ1.

Travel for two hours, camp for 30 minutes, walk for 30 more to the one mob that drops the item you need, get killed by said mob, do it all over again, six hours of your life gone, mob's finally dead...

didn't even drop what you wanted.

I have gone through great pains in my life to avoid that feeling ever again.

    Try typing in the following...

    /bind SHIFT+LCLICK powexec_name Teleport

You can now hold down shift and click places to more easily teleport about! You can of course change SHIFT to CTRL/ALT or LCLICK to RCLICK if you like.
    Holy sweet bejeezus. Cheat codes!

Seriously, I feel like a total bawss, now. Thank you, truly.

Also, the Yuki avatar is hypnotizing me into doing pretty much anything, so I'm not sure if it's that or the cheat codes that has me so woozy...

Pretty much my take on the matter. I've seen travel handled very well in games, and I've seen it handled very poorly. This one tends to linger toward the "well" end of that spectrum.

The key thing for me is that travel in CoH is fun, and it has a great sense of speed to it. I rarely find myself doing the anxious foot tap of not being where I want. In fact, I frequently find myself just wandering around to see where I end up. It's like Crackdown, but without the suck.

This is very handy for a tracking a variety of things. One I always monitor is "Last hit chance" (found under "Base" stats). When the Last Hit bottoms out, it usually means some power has debuffed my to-hit, or that the enemy has activated a good defense power. Then I can take action to fix the problem.
That... is the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Trying!

True story. I don't even know what "Paragon Reward" means, and I can teleport alllllll over the isles. And people's faces. It's a glorious feeling.

Go to King's Row at lvl 5 and talk to the detective in the police station to get a radio. Do 4-5 radio missions until you get the Safeguard mission. Complete it for a jetpack to help you travel around.

You don't need it if you do the sewer trial but it helps if you want to solo the first 14 levels.
Yeah, I snagged a jetpack and zero-G pack, 2 hours a pop from newspaper missions, and it has helped a ton. I'm doing the whole villain thing, getting lost in the story (Side note: it is EXTREMELY refreshing to actually read what NPCs say. I've done hundreds, if not thousands, of raids in other games, and I have never been clear on the motivation since the walls o' text were so poorly written).

At this moment, I'm level 18, pounding through the aftermath of Dr. Graves' tournament, and I haven't gotten bored, yet. This is a good sign.

The enhancement system is starting to make a little sense, and the first arc of the new signature story arc got me enough merit thingies to get a bunch of SO enhancements 3 levels above me, so I'm feeling a little god-like.

The invention stuff is piquing my interest, though. Is there any way to get more salvage inventory space? I'm feeling really.... cramped...

And in response to Aquila himself, I lurked a bit, but this is a ****ing huge game. It's been around for, what, 70-ish years? I mean, I'm a smart guy and all, but that's a rather intimidating learning curve. I don't even know enough to know what I don't know... know...

Also, not too concerned with character planners ATM, but I'll keep that in mind once I get up there in levels and have a better idea of what's what. Again, this is an instance of not knowing enough. I'm sure I'll use the planner when it come to that time (Lords know I spent enough time looking for Android apps of other character planners), but I'm just gonna play around a bit.

I'm glad there isn't one overbearing thing that everyone demands of all characters that have ever been/ever will be built. Other communities have been known to get rather... aggressive... about certain attributes.
  15. I was, until recently, heavily involved in another MMO (which shall remain unnamed), and, as such, I have been left with certain preconceptions. This other game was exceptionally action/customization focused, which are two things I love, so I won't be entirely leaving that one, but I have started playing CoH to supplement it. And, frankly, I'm playing alot more CoH than the other one.

My MMO background from my other game taught me a number of things, and I'm sure they will work against me, here. First, it taught me that DPS and HP are king. There was exactly zero effective damage mitigation at end-game, which makes for a whole lot of glass cannons running around. Second, it taught me that there is no better means for DPS than using tons of DoTs. AoE DoTs, if you can manage them.

ATM, I'm leveling up some kinda spider thing. I dunno. Just playing around with a bunch of different things. I'm not looking for build advice. I want your sage wisdom. I want that one thing you always find yourself screaming in your head at the noob in your party. I want you to tell me the things I definitely need to know in this community, be it build advice, gameplay tips, or community spirit.

    Lay it on me.
