Obviously I don't post often, but wanted to give voice to what I found last night (only time I had to try RV).
On the plus side, I got to see how my on-again-off-again fav toon (D3) would play if I ever get him to L40. (Too little play time and too many alts to actually count on that even though I've had him for 2 yrs.)
Also, it was fun to see GhostWidow in action. Scary that nobody seemed to be able to touch her while she almost casually slaughtered anyone that agro'ed her, but fun neverthelesss. Er, from a distance of course.
On the negative side, I found that my D3 is gonna suck at L40. Well, not for PvE perhaps, but certainly my experience with PvP (my first PvP in CoX ever, actually) was resoundingly bad.
The cycle was pretty much the same for the 3 hours I tried. Go out with Shadowfall and Tactics running. Look around to find the action. Suddenly either drop to 1 hp (AS, I assume) or get mez'ed/immobed/held and then killed within the next two secs. Go to hospital. Repeat until too tired and frustrated to play any longer.
There were a few times that I wasn't instakilled. As long as I was hiding in a large pack of heroes I could survive until someone noticed me and decided to casually destroy me. My debuffs and FS annoyed a few villians, I think and I did manage to actually kill a couple of people with a well-timed Blackstar. And I did manage to avoid death two or three times by TP'ing away the instant the first blow landed on me. (Although one of those "Whew! I just escaped with 1 hp! Aren't I lucky?!" teleports landed me in a bunch of spiders. You can imagine how that chapter ends, I'm sure. Heh, heh.)
On the whole, though, it seemed like not much point in playing unless I wanted to roll up a scrapper or a stalker.
I'm glad others had a good time, though. Mostly what I learned is what I'd always suspected: PvP isn't for me and my toons will suck at level 40 if I ever make it that far.
I wonder if others had more fun with their D3s. Maybe I'm just not built well for PvP. [shrug]
