  1. That's the plan, as far as I know, Bob. I may or may not be there, as I'll be attending Ash Wednesday services and may not get home in time. I'll check with my guildmates to see if they're going to be available, though, and will post here if we won't be able to lead it. Perhaps Serv would be willing to take the reins in that event.
  2. SG/VG Name: The Twilight Avengers

    Public relations: www.twilightavengers.com

Peak teaming hours: Anytime, although primary times are typically 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. eastern

Amount of PvP: Some, but optional for members

Amount of Powerleveling: Some, specifically for building raiding toons

Amount of Drama: None tolerated. If you want drama, go to the theatre.

Size of Base: Maximum with all amenities

Requirements: To apply, at least one toon at level 35 or above on either the Pinnacle or Guardian servers, with the ability to play that toon at a high level. You must also have a minimum of Reward Level 3 (for F2P or Premium accounts) for access to global channels. Should you be accepted into membership, there are guild events that are mandatory attendance (barring RL complications such as illness, work, etc.), as well as internal guild requirments for developing toons for raiding and Ventrilo usage.

Guild Description: The Twilight Avengers are the premiere raiding guild in the game. While this is primarily raiding the Hamidon, which we have done in as little as 8 minutes, it also encompasses the CoP and any other raid-level end-game content that is on the horizon. We have been in this game since beta, and have been a raiding guild in nearly every significant MMO for the last 9 years. We maintain primarily villains on the Pinnacle server (with heroes on the Guardian server) although we have recently crossed some toons over and have lead Hamidon raids on both red and blue sides. We are a close-knit group with a family feel, and we take our gaming seriously. The Twilight Avengers are NOT for everyone, and those who are not willing to commit to a guild-first mentality need not apply.

    Guild Leader: @Wulf 1

Deputy Guild Leaders: @Sausage Toes, @Maligne

Voice Chat: We have a private Ventrilo server for the use of our guild members. Use is mandatory for members, even if you can only listen.

If you want to raid at the highest level, be a part of a no-nonsense, guild-first family, and have the personality and game skills to match your desire, then come check us out!

I believe it IS possible, Doc...but it's not the damage that you really have to worry about. Aggro control is sufficient at public raids to be able to take it. The real problem comes in having enough damage and debuffs to overcome 18 green mitos worth of heals.

Our guild is going to be able to do it, despite lower numbers than the public has. But we have requirements on the kinds of toons to bring and which powers are chosen, and that's not something you're going to get at a public raid.

We'll see as we go forward. I MAY attempt a 75% takedown at some point in the future, but folks have to get comfortable and more fluid with the 50% takedown first.
  4. Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to set yet another record for the fastest public Hami raid. After a reasonable spawn time, we took Hami down from 50% and completed the raid in just 9 minutes! This is, again, the fastest public raid on any server that has been reported to date to my knowledge. Outstanding work...and shame on you who said that it couldn't be done at the outset when I announced our intentions. Don't doubt TA and the Wulf when it comes to the jell-o!

As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Kiddygrade, Magenta Graves, Madame Ex, Fire Addict, Celtic Apparition, and Grim Maligne. You folks make it all possible!

Hope to see you there next week!
  5. Thanks to everyone who came out for the raid tonight. We had a fairly quick spawn, and then blew Hami away in 13 minutes, tying the record for the fastest raid.

Special thanks, as always, to the support folks on my team, as well as to my team leaders: Street Stalker, Celtic Apparition, Grim Maligne, Kiddygrade, Fire Addict, and Baron Darque. Excellent work by everyone!

Hope to see you there next week!

Heh....I should have mentioned taking down the wall, if nothing else. It was a lot of fun, and I don't know that we had a single death during that fight.

As for the raise...consider it done. You now get twice what you were previously getting...

    So thanks! ....and thanks!
  7. Thanks to those who came out for the raid last night. Despite being a bit short on ranged damage, having more melee folks than we could shake a stick at, and my internet going out midway thru the raid, it was still successful thanks to some quick thinking on the part of my guildmates and the regulars. The time was around 18 minutes, I believe, although I didn't catch the exact end time (still rebooting my router at the time).

As always, special thanks to the support folks on my team, along with the team leaders: Grim Maligne, Celtic Apparition, Street Stalker, Fire Addict, Kiddygrade, and Lady Bellicose. And an extra special nod to Kiddygrade for jumping in to cover the Hami aggro when I lost connection to ensure the success of the raid.

Barring the unforeseen, TA will be leading next week, so we hope to see you there.

("Try" being the operative word - some have creative talent and others, um, don't.) I can imagine their surprise, dismay and disappointment when they found out that so many players would rather hit each other over the head or stick them up their... noses.

Frankly, part of me wishes that they'd just take AE out of the game entirely and publicly state it's because of the farmers that abused it. "This is why we can't have nice things." Maybe get a nice backlash going against the players who ruined it for everyone else.
First, I'll ignore the snide comment about common sense, as I'm sure you weren't directing it specifically at me or suggesting that I don't have any.

Second, while your assumption of the reasoning may be the most logical, that does not make it so. After all, there was a whole lot of common sense that said the world was flat at one time. But again, the issue is that they don't have the guts to step out and say so, one way or the other. Instead, they depend on the "common sense police" to answer for them.

Lastly, taking AE out altogether was one of my options as well. However, if they were to do so simply because a small percentage of people aren't using the system the way they intended, then they might as well discontinue the game altogether because there have always been and will always be people who don't use the game mechanics as intended.

And quite frankly, saying the devs were using common sense when they designed AE AND that they didn't anticipate some small portion of the playerbase to misuse it is an oxymoron of epic proportions...with the emphasis on the moron part. ANYONE with a lick of common sense knew it was going to happen, and I'm sure you'd give the devs at least that much credit!

A raid can be done any time someone wants to step up and lead one. The basics of the strategy we use to lead public raids are posted on these forums for anyone to use. The problem is that most people that don't raid on a regular basis don't want the hastle of trying to organize one...they want to just go and participate.

Our guild, on the other hand, raids Hami on both sides several times each week, so when we host one, we bring the necessary toons to guarantee success. But if your question is when will the Twilight Avengers be leading another one, the answer is we don't have one scheduled at the moment. When we do offer another one, though, we will certainly announce it.

IF that is the reason AE is excluded, then they either shouldn't bother with double XP anywhere in the game (since those farming outside AE are getting the doubled rewards along with everyone not farming) or they should include AE in double rewards and deal with the fact that there is always going to be a small percentage of the playerbase that takes advantage of it.

My biggest issue, however, is that we don't KNOW for certain that this is the reason AE is excluded because no one with a red name will demonstrate the fortitude to step up and say so officially. They just let a bunch of people in the community assume that's the reason and never address it.

They need to either admit it, fix it, or get rid of it altogether if it's not going to really be an included part of the game in all areas.

Actually, they fixed that error about Rogues not being included in the original post as soon as it was pointed out, as it was an obvious mistake. Had Rogues NOT gotten double XP because they weren't included in the original announcement, however, then yes, I would have a problem with that. And I wouldn't be alone.

What they did NOT do in that edit, however, was add anything about the fact that AE missions were not going to be included in double XP, nor do they provide any concrete reason why it is so.

If it's because there's a technical problem, they need to either fix it or admit they can't. I can't really imagine they can't, but it is conceivable that doing so would take more effort or manpower than they're willing to assign to the task at this time.

If it's because they intentionally don't want player-created storyarcs to be eligible for the additional rewards, then state why that is so. People may not agree with their reasoning, but at least there would be an official notification of some kind.

If it's because they're afraid some small sub-group of players might try to use it to level faster than the desired rate, then be upfront enough with the playerbase to come out and own up to it, no matter how anal it makes them look given the fact that there are plenty of people who farmed before AE and will continue to do so despite having never crossed the threshold of any of those buildings.

Doing none of the above and leaving people to parrot "it hasn't worked in recent ones, so it's no surprise" is an insult to our collective intelligence. It shouldn't take an act of Congress to get a red name to give an official response on the issue. But the longer they refuse to do so, the worse it makes them look.

No, I expect them not to be so anal about the possibility that someone might actually get XP faster than they want and focus that energy on things like server stability, particularly when farms happen just as often outside of the AE building as they do inside.

But this wasn't about farms. It's about creating a system like AE that they want and encourage people to use, and then handicapping it during the times when the server population is often the highest. That kind of logic just doesn't work.

And for the record, I spend very little time on a regular basis in AE. But again, that's not the point. It is an inconsistent practice that they either need to admit is intentional to prevent anyone from hitting 50 a few hours earlier or fix. And considering there's nothing mentioned in this wonderful announcement about the fact that AE arcs are not included in the yummy double XP goodness, it leads us to believe that they either have a technical issue that they can't solve in that system--which suggests ineptitude on their parts that I doubt exists--or intentional stealth nerfing, which they swear doesn't exist, essentially hamstringing their own creation without admitting it just because they're afraid someone won't like it. Neither answer reflects well on the devs, which is a shame, because they've taken some wonderful strides in recent issues.

Double XP in AE will never happen under the current system. If there was a more strenuous system for vetting new arcs before they could be flagged to give rewards, then *maybe* AE would get double XP.
And if that's the only reason the devs are excluding normal mission arcs in AE, then I still say it's stupid, since people are ALWAYS going to farm if they choose, whether inside AE or elsewhere. But this excludes any legitimate AE missions from being included in double XP, so they are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

If the devs are foolish enough to think farming doesn't happen anyway, then they are not as smart as I give them credit for being.
  14. And if you'll note, I didn't say anything about farming...I said AE mission arcs. If they're supposed to be created and run like the rest of the game, then excluding them is just stupid, barring any technical reasons.
  15. Then why is there no double XP in AE mission arcs?!? Since the XP has been regulated in there, not including those missions in double XP is just dumb, and we should at least be informed about this little discrepancy in their "everything is doubled" routine!!!

We advertised it in the PinnBadges channel after we got the team leadership in place, KemLi, and folks were actually fairly slow to get there, so the zone was open for some time. Sorry you missed out on it, but perhaps we'll lead another on Pinnacle at some point.

    Stay tuned!
  17. Congratulations on the run, folks. I knew Serv could handle it if folks would just follow his lead...even if he was on a fire tanker.

TA was over leading a double raid for the public on the Pinnacle server as a guild event last night, but I anticipate at this point that we'll be back on Guardian next week. See you then!

    Hamidon Raid

Thanks to everyone who came out to join the Twilight Avengers for the blueside raids tonight, with a special thanks to the folks from Jagged/Chaos Legion for their support and excellent work! We took Hami down the first time in 19 minutes, then spawned him again and took him down in 14 minutes.

Excellent work by everyone involved. If we decide to run another public raid on either side, we'll let you know!

Thanks! There are times when I wonder if folks really understand what goes into it, so I'm always glad to hear that there are some--particularly contributing regulars--that appreciate it.

    Cheers!

Heh...if you need jell-o that badly, you should apply to TA.
  21. Good luck with this, Serv!

I've tried to get somone else to lead these occasionally for some time now, and the few that have attempted it have been met with derision and disdain. I'm hoping you have more success, and if they go forward on a regular basis (on another night, at another time, etc.) I'm sure there are some TA folks that would want to participate. Of course, we raid multiple times each week on various servers within our guild, so this would just be icing on the cake for us.

If you want or need the macros I use, just let me know, bro!
  22. While I could not personally be in attendance for the raid tonight for work-related reasons, I'll go ahead and thank everyone who was able to make it, along with my guildmates who make it work in my absence.

With that said, no one from the Twilight Avengers will be available to lead the raid next week, January 26th, as we have a guild function. If someone else would like to step up and attempt a raid, I'll be glad to share my instruction macros with you (if you want them). Just find me in-game between now and then or send me a PM here and we'll set up a time for it.
  23. Thanks to all who came out for the raid tonight. As has become common since i19, the zone was full well before raid time, including a number of people who were afk when the set-up actually began. I understand that everyone wants to get in on these for the incarnate shards or merits, especially since they're so fast. But please--if you're not going to be there thru the set-up, DE takedown, and beginning of the raid, then don't bother logging a toon in. All you do is take away a spot from someone else who would like to participate.

We had a short spawn tonight, but had enough EoEs to go ahead and raid. We had a sub-20 minute raid, despite a number of people on toons that are not the best for the strategy used, and despite a number of people who insist on using powers that are not only not helpful, but create a significant amount of lag (steamy mist and hurricane, for example). Please watch the Request channel and turn those powers off, when asked. The request went out three times tonight, and it appeared that no one listened.

Thanks, as always, to the support folks, as well as to my team leaders: Street Stalker, Fire Addict, Kiddygrade, Madam Ex, and Grim Maligne, as well as the DE leader, Snausagez. Excellent work, all!

As of right now, TA is planning to be there to lead the raid next week.
  24. Glad you guys enjoyed it. Serv, it's about time you guys got the rewards without having to petition it. Maybe the devs finally decided to fix the problem. Only time will tell. And Bob, you didn't show much rust for someone who hadn't done it in awhile, and I appreciate you stepping in when our leader from the previous raid had to leave. Ravenwolf, it's about time you got in on another one...and what timing, to get a double-dip!

While we won't be doing double raids regularly, there is always the possibility--especially IF we decide to run one redside...
  25. Thanks to those who came out tonight for the raids. As it turned out, the Hive was full so early that some of the leadership couldn't even get into the zone. So we went to Hive 2 to get set up, spawned Hami, and took him down. Then we moved back to Hive 1, now with a few more EoEs under our belts, and took down the Hami that had already been spawned. I know that everyone wasn't able to get into the zone, or missed one raid or the other. Unfortunately, with the popularity and speed of these raids, it's only going to get worse in the future.

Both raids went fairly quickly with the no-reset strat, although I didn't time them tonight. But there seemed to be a significant number of satisfied people, and in the end, that's what matters.

Special thanks, as always, to my support folks, as well as to my team leaders (of a team on one or both raids): William Dark, Complex Electra, Fire Addict, Celtic Apparition, Diet Frission, and Grim Maligne. Outstanding work!

Hope to see you next week!
